Chapter 1627 - 1626 - Revitalized
Chapter 1627 - 1626 - Revitalized
Lind had expected to find devastated areas but oddly, almost everywhere was quite fine. Better, in fact, than when he had observed the cities previously. It was as if the monkeys and apes had awakened to greater wisdom with Sun's ascension.
He knew True Lords could invigorate a race but the stark difference was more exaggerated with them.
Karu and Gaia were happily learning new things from many of them but Lind was more interested in the Fiend's former centers of power. He wanted to check some things while he could safely.
Sun had looked awkward and that was when he saw a few buildings that were razed to the ground. The traces left behind gave Lind the shivers. What mystified him the most was that they were in the middle of some of the cities and villages but the buildings on either side were totally intact.
He looked at Sun who seemed to want to crawl into a hole.
"I was a bit angry. I can be careful! See, no one else got hurt!" Lind stared at the once prideful True Lord and was not sure whether to be impressed or strike him up side the head!
He sighed and let it go. There may have been traps set to find him before he could stop them.
What few scraps remained were just slag. He did note that Sun essentially used brute force to overcome the vile nature of Fiend Qi. It was one way but he had never seen both brutality and precision applied so well together.
"We will have a long discussion about that later. For now, I need to know if you can help me." Lind began to outline his issues and Sun began to smile wide!
"Elixirs are our speciality! You should try our brews!" Lind stared long and hard at Sun. Why would elixirs lead to alcohol? He sighed but let the monkey True Lord take him to a place that stunk to the Heavens.
Yet, beneath the pungent odor of brewing, he detected the medicinal scents he was familiar with.
He had made considerable advancements in the last few centuries but he still had to restrain himself. He really needed a place to let loose and elixirs were where he began.
"Oi! Stupid golden fool, why bring a skinny man here?!" An older woman seemed to appear and swung a staff at Sun. Despite knowing his current prowess, Sun desperately dodged and hid behind Lind!
The staff struck him in the ribs but Lind felt nothing. He looked at the old woman and saw her eyes were milky. She could not see with her physical eyes but her aura was so refined he barely detected it.
She was a peak Journeyman Tier. He cupped his hands and bowed low.
"This junior has studied under Younger Twin and blazed my own path. May I know the esteemed senior's name?" Sun froze and the older woman did as well.
"You should know better than to claim such a thing. The Divine Twins are long gone from the world. Only–" Lind produced an emblem that shimmered. He obtained it from the Floating Isles but it made the old woman tremble.
She carefully sensed it before clasping her hands together as she dropped her staff. Sun stared at Lind but he could only go along with the headstrong woman.
She took him to an alchemical lab. He saw several alchemists hard at work with pills but also a vast majority were elixir masters!
"Go on! Show me!" Lind sighed as he was practically shoved into an alcove. He had only meant respect but had not meant to be put to work!
He then let loose. Divine water was heated by Divine fire. His emerald flames made the old woman scrunch up her face but then she became slack jawed as he used herbs, Qi stones, and beast cores.
They crumbled to dust as he extracted the essence and then broke down the essence into aspects, then Laws, and fused Daos until peak Dao Grade elixirs came together. Lind made generic versions until he had a smile cross his face.
Specific Daos were selected and infused to make elixirs tailored to Sun and Karu. The old woman clapped her hands in joy!
"He really is from Younger Twin!" She cackled. Lind wondered why she was so fixated on that when he looked up at the mantle over the hearth and froze.
The same symbol his medallion had was the same!
He quickly checked for any chains of fate but none were on him. The odds against it were immense. Yet, he had always suspected his original Master had made it to the Divine Realm.
The old woman, Old Yana as Sun called her, told him that the Western Lament was home to many pockets of Younger Twin enclaves. It was a great loss when they fell but he had traversed the entire Divine Lands with his brother.
Their names were obscured in history for reasons unknown. Lind suspected they had Dao names or other titles that would lead enemies or unwelcome interest. Many experts of incredible ability existed in the Divine Realm cultivators so it was not so difficult to fade into the background.
Lind's highly distinctive features were one issue but his weaving was forever tied to his harmony so hiding was very difficult for him.
His other professions had some issues when he pushed his limits.
Old Yana began to teach him about delving a customer or approaching his goal from a different angle for Dao Grade elixirs.
The former was tailoring to the needs of a client but the latter was where he had been struggling. His understanding was he had to do the former always but Old Yana affirmed that was not the case.
A true Grand Maester would be able to create elixirs anyone could use.
The trick was not worrying so much about Dao interaction and simply creating an elixir that could adapt to the Dao of the user. It sounded simple but unlike Laws, Daos were far more potent.
They were the accumulation of multiple Laws into a single foundational aspect of reality. It was not like they were all easily compatible!
"HA HA HA! You are so rigid! You treat Dao as absolute but it is a far more subtle thing. Otherwise, how could any of this exist?" Old Yana waved her arm to indicate all existence. He grasped a bit of what she was saying but it could not be easy.
He had been studying how to advance for so long and realized he had let his assumptions become rigid. He saw Dao as the ultimate power but he now understood that was too shallow long ago.
Mysteries were far more powerful but while he had condensed no few as an Apprentice Tier, he was still far from understanding them in regards to his profession or anything outside of his Art of Defiance.
His Dao Weapon was of the same vein but even that had been more of a test as it had exhausted him far beyond his expectations.
He was fumbling in the dark so much at present and time was against him. His best bet was to master the 3 professions he had such a firm foundation in and deduce resonance from there.
If he could touch on Mystery Grade level, it would possibly answer many questions about his issues condensing Mysteries.
Years passed before Lind began to understand what Old Yana was talking about. He saw her make several low Dao Grade elixirs but it was the brewing that was the far superior skill for the monkey tribes.
The quality of resources put into their wine and ale would make any Grand Maester weep but Lind observed and learned. He began to brew as well.
He started at the very lowest grade possible, 2nd grade, and master each grade as he had once before. He found it fun but the goal was never changed.
He was trying to understand how to create true Dao Grade items that did not need to be tailored.
The island was revitalized as it was free of Fiends and since there was no teleportation array, they would be considered truly free for billions of years to come.
Sun had continued to scour the surface and underground for any signs of secret bases and purged all the Fiends as well as bringing the entire island under his control.
His battle prowess put all his abilities to shame. Lind had used tricks, ambushes, and anything he could think of to kill his foes before they could harness their full power against him, but Sun was like a force of nature.
On top of brewing, he began to train with Sun. It was not sparring. They drew blood and shattered bones with real combat. Sun was so happy to have someone on his level to fight while Lind used his Dao Weapon more and more to master its new abilities.
Life and Death Mysteries gave it both a lethality and sheer precision to make even Sun afraid despite being a full tier above him. The Samsara layer was incomplete but the abilities were more complex.
Lind realized why he has such trouble as in comparison both Life and Death were straightforward but Samsara was meant to encompass not only aspects of both but the bottomless well of rebirth!
Nearly 50 years passed before Lind was heard laughing maniacally in the concoction furnace area. A shimmering violet and crimson set of vials sat before him. He had succeeded to become a true elixir Grand Maester!
