Chapter 1607 - 1606 - Mei and An
Chapter 1607 - 1606 - Mei and An
The Soul Faction was a powerful alliance in the Eastern Continent. It had come together when the war against the Fiends had caused powerful figures to die far too much and a change was needed.
Divine Realm cultivators had some sway in areas no other realm did. Karma was far more vital to them to advance in many instances so a group of powers already trying to increase karma found a certain thing many missed.
Fiends were very weak to karmic results.
A soul bathed in restitution could actually break free from refinement or other dangerous techniques.
After that was found, some factions on the verge of breaking apart also chose to consolidate a new faction.
They would actively choose young Journeyman Tiers to attach to souls in Samsara and protect their memories to be reborn and invigorate their karma good or bad as the chosen lived their lives.
Many suffered but just as many succeeded. The golden karmic energy was then fused into special artifacts or formations to contain the main Fiend forces.
Everyone saw success that had not been known in billions of years but then an extreme case came along.
Lind Frey was an unprecedented success. Not only had he followed a relatively excellent karmic life, but he had actively thwarted the Fiends in the lower realms!
His actions had also revealed a new weakness in the enemy! The information was desperately absorbed and replicated as best they could.
Sadly, he was too weak. It would be millions of years before he could help them, or so many thought.
His 2 karmic bonds, Mei and An, were seeing explosive progress but An had suffered some punishment for going too far to protect Lind. Then the Great One was revealed to be interfering far more in the lower realms and she was absolved.
Lind was sailing through the Immortal Realm and all were prepared to fight tooth and nail to secure him on his ascension. Yet, things did not go as planned.
He faced a Judgement Tribulation that sent him far from their continent. No one knew where he was even to the present day but eventually his research and results was finally at a level they could use effectively!
His wives recently ascended when the Great One pulled a horrifying move and revelation.
While many would normally not take the enemy at his word, the Lost Mountains did vanish! It was not just all that lived there, the actual mountain range was gone!
While many powers were united against the Fiends, the offer of amnesty fractured the once secure treaties.
A slim limbed dark gold skinned figure walked through a castle on a small hill in the Azure Plains. It was literally bright blue grasslands that were aligned with water Daos but with no body of water.
Special herbs that were hard to find on land grew freely there but none remembered how such a thing came to be.
Lakes and other normal bodies of water did exist in the Divine Lands but each continent was surrounded by the Void Ocean. No water could exist near the coasts.
Soranthan had been struck by karmic retribution but had not been crippled thanks to the same Lind Frey. His request to save Ethry lessened the Heavenly punishment he should have faced for sponsoring the vile human that harvested his souls to stay alive inside a false Inheritance.
He was from a realm of low gravity and very few life forms. Cultivation was nearly impossible there but he had achieved the dream of the Divine Realm. He was the only one thus far even after a billion years.
He walked down the stone corridors with simple decorations until he came to a dark steel door. The formations on it shimmered with powerful restrictions but he simply put his hand on the plate and it pulled aside.
As soon as he was inside, it slammed shut behind him but he was not concerned. He could leave anytime.
The cells below were not bad considering the occupants were prisoners. Cultivation was not hindered at all but they could not leave. It was a prison for those kept due to special circumstances but were not guilty of any crime.
He saw a pair of women in white dresses with golden cords at their waist. They still wore the clothes of trial takers despite their unrivaled success. They waited for a promised day to change to the robes of true masters.
"Mei. An. It is not good." His race was not one for small talk. The pair had blue eyes that locked on to him but glanced at their company in the next cell.
A woman with prismatic hair and eyes glared at him. The gorgeous aether child with sapphire and gold coloring sighed and patted her hair.
"What did those idiots decide?" Soranthan sighed as he held up his long limbed arms briefly before he had to put them down to keep his balance.
"An, you need to let go of the past." Mei, with her shimmering blonde hair admonished her partner but he saw no issue with An's words.
"Actually, they have no decision. The Arbiter Council is not just split but chaos. It is clear the Fiends fear Lind Frey but the offer is tempting to those that want to live. They think the Great One would not make the offer without knowing he could win in the end no matter what but others argue and it goes nowhere." Shortly after the broadcast and vanishing of the Lost Mountains, Lind Frey's closest members were secured before they knew what happened.
Ethry and Annabelle were one thing, but Mei and An were their own people!
"Senior, I know you only met him once but Lind will not take kindly to this." Annabelle cupped her hands and bowed to him but he sighed and waved it off.
"Actually, you 2 are safer in here than out there. You may feel powerful but Apprentice Tiers are not much better than Sovereign Tiers until their Mysteries are condensed. There are no restrictions on your cultivation and I am happy to speak with you about Mysteries anytime." Soranthan knew despite the chaos, no one would dare imprison the wives of such a promising person.
On top of that, the Oaths all swore meant innocents could not be put in the harsher dungeons for criminals without cause.
"Idiots! All those places that were attacked were clearly places Lind had benefits! Yet, this area is left untouched! Do they not consider that?" The prismatic dragon glared at him but he bowed to her.
"They did but as I said, it is all falling–" An slammed the cage doors with her fist. She glared at him as she swept her brunette hair behind her shoulder.
"Just admit it! Those bastards that made horrific choices are looking for a way out!" Soranthan flinched but could not deny her accusation.
Those that suffered from karmic retribution were facing no chance of advancement in the future and a way to avoid death or refinement by Fiends was tempting.
They could still live for billions of years after all.
"What about our Sisters?" Annabelle broke the tension and the trio looked conflicted.
"The barrier Lind erected prevents even communication so we cannot warn them. I suspect when they arrive or anyone connected to him, they will be brought to these cells." Mei answered and Soranthan could not deny her analysis.
"What about us?! We have acted within the rules and they still put us here!" An's anger was understandable. Apprentice Tiers were one thing, but Journeyman Tiers were considered the powerhouses of the Divine Lands.
Master Tiers were largely uninvolved or simply reclusive trying to breakthrough or condense their Mysteries unless necessary.
Grand Elders would act as protectors or those that knew nothing could be done would pass on their legacy via lessons or making an Inheritance.
So Mei and An being locked away was highly unusual. It was compounded by the fact the Fiends had suddenly pulled back from the front lines.
After the broadcast, all Fiend activities had ceased!
"Do you think what he said was true?" Mei asked the question they all wanted answers about desperately but Ethry huffed and nodded.
"Of course it is true! If Lind could get a do over, he would absolutely do it! People are not things and if the Great Bastard was about to consume all of reality, he would choose to try again every time!" Her words made the trio blink.
They had experience with guiding souls from barren or worse realms but the idea that there was a Divine Realm being that could reset the timeline frightened them.
Divine Realms were powerful figures and the idea that someone had reset their lives multiple times was hard to swallow.
"Why don't we remember the alternate timelines?" An asked the obvious question but Annabelle smirked.
"If it is a Talent from Heaven and Earth, then its effects are beyond us. We may even think of it as Heaven and Earth giving us a chance. Without it, it seems we all would be long dead or worse, in the dantian of the Great Bastard." Soranthan could not deny her words.
He would make the same choice!
"What will happen then?! Can we get out of here?!" An was focused on their current situation but he shrugged.
"I came to tell you it is chaos. What you do with it, is not my concern." He then dropped a jade slip and left. The fact it had the unlock code was not his problem. It was just an unfortunate coincidence as he left the cells.
[Thank you senior.] A male voice made Soranthan pause but he moved on and smiled. The future would be crazy but he was clear on who he owed a favor to. His dantian suddenly felt lighter and he just smiled as he left the cells behind.
