Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1606 - 1605 - No Future

Chapter 1606 - 1605 - No Future

Lind met Karu then quickly isolated them behind the strongest wards the Eternal Flame Guild had. He then told her what happened and to imprint a jade slip with all she could remember about places that had helped them in the other futures.

Her pale face shook.

She then did as told and it took a few days. In that time, Lind's grim words came true as reports all across the Divine Lands began to spread of random but brutal assaults by Fiend forces.

It was not wild nor chaotic but cold and methodical. Some places lost Ruins or Inheritances while suffering casualties while others were razed to the ground.

As the list of names came in, Lind confirmed his worst fears. They were all the places that held key knowledge, opportunities, or future allies that helped Lind grow and survive.

The 2 Master Tiers looked at him as he explained that he had angered the Great Bastard many times and now that his wives had arrived, it meant he had arrived. The Fiends were burning any hopes of him using the future knowledge to an advantage.

It would not stop him, but it confirmed the Bastard had been slowed down by Lind's changes. The coward was buying time by making Lind start over with no idea what to do and blinding Karu to boot.

All her future knowledge was seared to ash!

Billions, possibly trillions, were killed or consumed as many places were not strategically important to any war front.

A few would survive because they were for now but the Bastard would definitely focus more on them too.

He could not as neatly explain why those particular places were hit but he did reveal the Ore Heaven Pavilion was on his list of places to learn how to grow all 3 of his professions.

Masters Ze and Po understood partially then. If the point was to hinder his growth, then it seemed the Fiends found him particularly dangerous.

Lind confirmed it by pointing out how the Fiend thralls reacted to his harmonic Qi. It was deadly to them!

Master Ze remembered and Master Po also seemed to grasp the depth of the issue.

Rather than ask him to leave, they actually pressed him harder to improve! In the years that followed, the attacks lessened.

The chaos unleashed made many alliances form but also made the counterattack vicious. The cultists got the worst of it as such a random set of attacks made other powers that normally worked against each other unite to kill them.

Lind was glad the dead of Shadow Seal Cover were avenged but it changed nothing of how angry he was at the Fiends.

He was no longer in the superior position against them anymore. He had become too complacent.

The same attempt to refine his entire Celestial Fields allowed the other powers to finally dominate the Fiends as their numbers were too few to assert control again. The harmonic weapons he created gave the edge back to the other side.

If he advanced enough to make similar weapons at the Dao and Mystery Grade, the Fiends knew they would face a similar fate as their lower realm brethren.

There was one oddity in all of the Fiend attacks. The location on the East Continent most likely for his ascension was left alone.

The reason was obvious to Lind if not Karu. The Bastard knew his family was rising. If he destroyed that location, the Bastard would cause a shift in the ascension by tribulation.

In other words, he left a place Lind had to protect alone to draw him in once enough targets were there.

The 25 thousand year timeline was tossed out the window in one move!

It would take far less time for his family to ascend thanks to the many advantages he gave them!

He would be lucky to get to 10 thousand years!

If he failed to get strong enough, his family would die with no way to save them. Either way, the Bastard gets what he wants.

A strike at the enemy that had trapped him in a time loop for so long.

The pressure did wonders for his advancement in elixirs but he now worried about Forging far more than before. The 8th Circle was already long since crossed by him yet he had to transform it for Mystery Grade too if he was right.

What that would entail he had no idea but all of it had to advance for him to advance!

After 3 years, he was marked as a true Grand Maester of elixirs. It was a record time for any ascender as well as most natives.

Dao Grade elixirs had pushed him hard but it also helped him grasp something about Mysteries as well. He was trying to force it in his dantian too.

He was pondering the resonance of ideas when a vile voice suddenly boomed across the continents.

[I know you are here. I know you have somehow slipped through my nets but with that pet of yours, that was reasonable. I also know what you promised to help her with so I assume that will change as well.]

The Bastard was speaking and Lind did not like it. He quickly left his room and got to Karu. Master Po was with her and they were discussing possible routes for the future.

He did not speak as he grabbed her and bowed to the Master Tier before leaving. They had hardly anything to pack and he did not wait. Her own face was pale as she seemed to understand why he was moving.

They had already left the core parts of the guild when their fears came true.

[I debated many ways to end this and while I would normally enjoy doing it myself, I am not going to let you grow anymore. To all the Divine Lands, I am the Great One. I am the God of your world.]

Lind sneered but sped up as he finally felt the spatial restriction lift he tore through space. The guards were stunned but did not stop him. He was an honored guest afterall.

They appeared in the meadow outside the dark crimson walls of the guild. They began to run as fast as they could move towards the wilder forest not far away.

[I have a secret to tell you all about your grand savior, Lind Frey. He has failed over and over to kill me but cheated by resetting the life of a useless fox. Her talent is unique and it has kept this fight going longer than it has to.]

He was really doing it. Lind wished the Bastard was like all those villains George would go on about or the spoiled powerful scions he had thwarted most of his life but he was an ancient monster that held the memories of all his success and failures from who knew how many timelines.

[That is right, Lind Frey and his pet have fought me before and failed to save you all. Yet, I grow tired of it. It simply repeats over and over without end. We fight, you all die on my ascension to true Godhood and he resets it. I want it to end so I make an offer.]

Lind began to conjure more speed as he picked up Karu and they blurred deeper into the forest. They had to get past the safety line where even Master Tiers would not go!

[Whoever brings me Lind Frey alive, crippled if necessary, I will spare the final end. It cannot be stopped. I am already about to condense my second Mystery in the Master Tier. The entire Lost Mountains will vanish when that happens. You will see it soon.]

The damned bastard waited! He waited to have proof of what he could do!

"Lind, if he does this, we will have nowhere to go! We will have no way to survive!" He wanted to deny her but the future benefits were already gone so really it was more of the same. The Bastard was leaving them no future at all!

[Remember, he has to be alive. Bring him to me before the Eastern Continent is consumed or it will be too late for me to stop him growing.]

The final words were resonating in all their minds when the Heavens darkened. A scream unlike anything Lind had ever felt before tore through his mind.

Karu passed out and he saw all the life around him shimmer. Something fundamental had just been ripped away and Lind knew that wherever the Lost Mountains were, they were gone.

[I have done as I said. The truth will spread soon and you will all know I am serious. Bring him to me and you will live forever where all else joins inside me for eternity!]

Lind felt the pressure drastically increase as Master and Journeyman Tier auras flared towards him but he was long since beyond their reach.

The depths of the forest was the domain of beasts and while they also got the message, racial authority lay with him.

Lind also noted something about Karu after the event. She seemed the same but she was not. It was as if something was missing from her too!

He examined everything with his aura and found all life, even stone, was less than before. Horror filled him as he realized he had no such issue. The chains of fate were not the only thing he was free from.

He was also free from Heaven and Earth binding him to the world. He had also stepped beyond! If he had not, he would be weakened as well! He knew why they had lost and a smile spread over his face!

"You have cut off the future but not our battle, Bastard. I will come for you soon enough!" His words seemed to inspire Heaven and Earth as black clouds gathered and lighting streaked north and east.

He was unsure what happened but he hoped it hurt the Bastard like hell!
