Chapter 1591 - 1590 - Shadow Seal Cove
Chapter 1591 - 1590 - Shadow Seal Cove
Lind vividly recalled his first teleportation as a Soul Realm. He had felt the world distort around him and his senses went haywire. He just barely kept the bile in and had been talked down by his companions until he was settled.
It had always been nauseating until he was a late Sky Realm and Heaven Realm.
It had been a very long time since he had such a feeling but riding on the back of the leviathan to the mainland brought it all back!
While they were protected from the Void Ocean forces directly, they were not protected by the swirling star forms around them!
The old sci-fi shows and movies that showed movement through space causing a nice uniform streak of lights was completely a crock!
The Void Ocean distorted certainly but the profound forces at work also compressed their swift movement by causing nauseating twists to the flickering lights to keep a solid shape!
It made for a hypnotic effect that put him on edge at first and then twisted his stomach later. The speed of the leviathan was no joke!
What took centuries for artifacts to achieve was done in a mere few days by her!
She suddenly slowed down and the sun finally greeted him after a decade in a preserve. While the preserves had day and night, the cycles were artificial.
The weavings allowed it to happen and the actual sun and moons of the respective worlds were long gone.
Now, greeting the real sun gave him some relief as well as the slower motion of his ride.
[Senior Frey, we have arrived at the Shadow Seal Cove.] Her voice was stilting but she spoke clearly. She was only an Immortal Realm at the Radiant Tier but she had done well.
"Thank you for the ride. What procedure should I do from here?" While he had been told about the cove, the krakens and leviathans treated it as a matter of course that he could arrive. He suspected they would not be happy to see him.
[Lord Envoy knows we are here. He is coming.] Indeed, a sturdy vessel was riding the waves to them. He found that fascinating.
He could not cup a single bit of the Void Ocean but here was a boat that could float in it. How?!
His emerald eyes sparkled but Karu seemed to hide behind him suddenly. He glanced back and saw real fear in her posture. Why?
He extended his senses and frowned. The ship approaching had robust figures manning it but he did not find a kraken or leviathan. In fact, he did not sense any other nearby.
"Leave, now. It is a trap." The leviathan was surprised but did not disobey. Lind picked up Karu and flew into the air as the leviathan quickly left the area. Shouts came from the ship but Lind did not care.
"We are going to have a long talk about how much of the future you know, but first tell me what happened to the envoy." Karu flinched but she did not deny his accusation.
"If–if things have gone as I remember, they have been taken prisoner in the mountains just outside the cove. If they died, it would alert the krakens and leviathans. They don't know who you are, just that the cultists and the Unbending Fate Faction want you badly." Bounty hunters.
Great, he did not have to hold back then.
"The ship?" She shook her head.
"Their families are with the envoy." It was all he needed to know. He shot like an arrow to the shore, bypassing the boat. His shape began to distort until a massive dragon filled the air.
He saw more robust figures as well as massive seals on the shore looking up at him. The dark sand was much more like a beach but he ignored it all as he locked onto the human figures in the town.
Emerald beams of light shot out and no defense could stop them! Their defenses were natural arrays and thus his harmonic Qi bypassed them with ease. Cries of surprise were followed by several Immortals and a Divine Realm Apprentice Tier being snatched into the air.
Some of the humans were bound and he quickly set them free before setting them down. The others were dressed in good leather armor combined with a few interesting artifacts.
[I will make this brief. You will tell me where the hostages are or I will start taking you apart one limb at a time. Then, if you still refuse, I will introduce you to a level of soul pain I do not think you can imagine.] Lind was deadly serious.
He was running out of time. It might seem like he had a lot with how long he spent on the island but now that he was on the mainland, it was a race. Would he be found first and cornered, or could he gain enough power to chase his target?
Several of the figures tried to commit suicide but were horrified to learn nothing happened. The Apprentice Tier man was able to crush a jade stone artifact but the Qi was consumed by his harmony.
Lind's cold eyes glared down at them.
"G–g–great Lord of Dragons! Mercy! I am just paid for the job–" One of the men tried to speak but then his face twisted in pain before his body was turned into paste! His soul was then shattered.
An Oath, eh?
[In that case, let us try this.] His emerald light changed. His Art of Defiance touched each person in his grasp and something shattered on them. Not an Oath then, but an artifact.
The Divine Realm panicked as the others clearly realized what was going on.
[There were artifacts you were given as protection or weapons, but they just shattered because they were harmful to you. There is still risk if you took an Oath, but if not, speak freely.] His words made many eyes go wide before many glared at the Apprentice Tier.
"Don't any of you dare to–" His voice was cut off by a woman he had freed.
"Lord Dragon, they took my companion with them and he has a brand I can feel! It is to the north and west. I can take you there." Her hair was tightly bound into braids and wound into a ponytail as well. He also noted her disheveled state and puffy face.
His anger flared at the men he took up from the same space. They seemed to grasp the danger but too late.
They turned into mist before he shattered their souls.
He then crippled the rest before turning back into a man.
"They are crippled, bind them and you will take me there." The woman looked up at where the 2 men had been before she bowed to him and he gathered her with his aura.
Karu was staring at him in a strange way. She had not said a word but his actions shocked her, he knew that much.
She guided him past the town into an area of small mountains. They were easily a place one could take a hike or find many beasts happily living in harmony. The green trees were a mix of oak, spruce, and other common kinds but the auras were far from that.
The lowest aura was in the Sky realm while the highest was beyond him! A Master Tier plant!
The fact it did not react to them told him it was uncaring what they did so long as the forest was left in peace.
No wonder the Shadow Seal Cove could enjoy relative safety. Anyone foolish enough to tick off a Master Tier would not live to tell the tale!
He flew through the air and began to feel fatigue. Carrying 2 people drained him!
Still, the woman brought them to an area that stood out now that he was close.
"I see it." He set them down before bowing low to the forest. "Senior, I am here to rescue hostages but may cause damage. I request some indulgence." His actions baffled the woman but Karu seemed to know something that time.
A breeze without wind came from the trees around them and Lind smiled.
He bowed once more before turning to them.
"Stay here. Wait for my signal. Karu, you know what I mean?" His gaze was sharp and she swallowed before nodding. Of course she knew.
He moved quickly but filed away what was real and what was feigned. His sense of urgency only increased with the confirmation she knew the future. Her ability to see was one thing but she acted as if she had done some things many times before.
It disturbed him and the final words of his other future self left him haunted. He was the final attempt and he had wondered how his future self knew that.
None of his abilities or Daos accounted for it but if there was an external factor, someone that could show those possibilities, then many questions would be answered.
He shook the thoughts aside as he came to what seemed to be an unassailable mountain. The grade was steep and there were no handholds nor any sign of a trail but whoever set up the array was an idiot.
A game trail went right up to the image in front of him!
Honestly, a child could have discovered it.
A simple wave of his hand shattered the array eyes. They were flag nodes but not good ones. The image wavered and a very simple trail appeared with a cavern exposed.
The 2 humans guarding it were already facing him but they were only Immortals. Greed led them to the current state of affairs but he had no time to be kind.
He vanished as their dantians were destroyed at the same time and their souls shattered. They did not even know how they died.
Lind looked coldly at the cavern and then descended into the darkness. He smelled blood and it did not make him happy.
