Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1566 - 1565 - A Single Attack

Chapter 1566 - 1565 - A Single Attack

Lind was sent flying as a solid bar of white energy slammed into him. He barely stayed conscious when screams filled the air.

A single massive white tentacle shot out of the water and shattered whatever defenses the group had erected.

The 2 Divine Realm cultivators tried to escape but it was like their abilities were paper! Blood flew and the souls of the Immortals were shattered before the various artifacts were swept clean from the beach!

A single strike! All it took was a single strike and they were gone in an instant. Lind was bleeding but alive.

He wondered if he would be next but the tentacle dragged the remnants back into the Void Ocean where it all vanished. He saw nothing break the surface again and exhaled a breath he had not known he was holding!

The sheer power was insane!

"What–what in blazes was that?!" He was not sure what to expect but it was not that!

Haro was silent for a time but he finally answered in a bit of awe.

[Master, I did not tell them. They heard you! They felt your intent to warn and a Master Tier answered!] Lind was shocked on many levels.

Not least was a clear demonstration at the difference in the tiers of the Divine Realm were clearly demonstrated.

The Journeyman Tier could do nothing! Not a single chance to live was given in that single attack!

Lind focused on healing but he kept an eye out for any sign of a return of that tentacle.

"Was that a kraken, I take it?" Haro gave an affirmative sensation in his mind.

[There is more, Master. The one that attacked wants you to leave as soon as possible. I explained you are newly ascended and he knows. They appreciate you have not violated the island but I do not understand what that means.]

Lind felt a certainty settle in his heart. There was something on the island the beasts were protecting that needed to be on the surface for some reason.

"Are you saying they will let me leave safely?" If he had safe passage, he would happily head out given a proper direction to go! Haro disappointed him.

[No, Master. You can leave the island but your life or death will then be up to you outside the immediate area. I can tell you I was given 2 directions to take. However, we are very far from any other land. You need to be a Journeyman Tier at least to make it.]

Lind actually felt a crushing feeling at that moment. It took him 3 centuries to get 2 Mysteries added to his dantian! At that pace, assuming the following layers were not too big of a jump to adjust to, he could still take thousands of years at his current rate!

He tried to think of a solution when he realized what he could do.

"Haro, ask them if they wish for me to safeguard the island from any other invaders we detect?" The confusion from his spirit was only momentary before he came back with a response.

[They find this acceptable and will escort you to land if you can stay for another 750 years.]

That seemed oddly specific for a time frame. He did not think about it at all and accepted.

Before he could react, another white tentacle rose out of the water and touched his forehead. A searing pain lanced through his body before it slowly faded away.

He awoke in the forest but it was night time. The various moons in the sky told him it was the night after the attack.

"Haro?" Lind felt his ring spirit stir instantly.

[MASTER! Are you all right?!] Lind winced at the loud voice in his head but before could answer, he felt something odd. He focused his senses and a very faint sound could be heard.

He got up and found his body was healed if a little stiff from being left in an odd position. He began to walk slowly after the sound.

"I am ok but do you hear that sound?" Haro appeared outside and cocked his head to listen but then shook his head to show he did not.

"I checked your body afterward but there is no chance I can discern with my limited abilities. In the Divine Realm, your skills will far exceed mine in that regard." Lind nodded and the pair moved in the dark.

Haro was a spirit so his eyes were not like a human's at all but Lind found his night vision was not needed. He felt like he could now walk the island as if he knew it like the back of his hand!

Had the kraken imprinted knowledge into his mind? He did not think so but he did follow the sound until they reached the base of the strange mountain at the center.

While he had explored the island to an extent, he had been more focused on his progress than anything else. Still, why had he never looked at the mountain?

It shot sharply into the sky with almost no slope at all. Now that he was closer to it, he also felt like the texture of the surface was not stone yet it was as hard as that material.

Flying was not a good idea but he could lighten his frame as he climbed up as the sound was above them.

Haro returned to the ring and he began the ascent. There was little difficulty but an instinct warned him against using his claws for purchase. The sound grew somewhat louder but was never painful nor irritating.

It was a regular rhythm that seemed familiar but he could not place it. That facet of it was annoying but he moved on.

Just as the sun crested on the horizon, he found an opening just big enough for a person to fit through.

There were 2 more such openings at equidistant positions at the same level but no others. The interior was hollow!

Lind gently stood inside as the sunlight began to illuminate the strange cavern. It was too smooth and perfect to be natural. Was it a tower made by a cultivator? Why would the leviathans or krakens care about such a thing?

Regardless, he found a spherical object at the center of it. It was also the source of the noise. It was a dark red stone and his instincts were now screaming at him. He felt danger from the stone!

He inspected the area but found little else. He then looked at the base of the stone and saw it was attached directly to the mountain but by some kind of plant he did not recognize. It was a dark brown leafy growth yet he could not grasp how it existed.

There were no roots nor any sign of water to sustain the plant, yet it lived. He knew that instinctively as well. Lind backed up and sat down in contemplation.

He was unsure why he could hear the sound but Haro appeared once more and shocked him more as he looked around in confusion.

"Master, why did you come up here? I do not hear the noise but an empty room is not that interesting." Lind only glanced at the red stone once more and immediately chose to omit revealing it was there.

"Maybe it is just a side effect of what the kraken did to me. I will cultivate and figure it out." He continued to think on the last facet of his life layer when a shocking revelation came to him.

He was gathering far more elemental Qi inside the cavern unlike outside of it!

He immediately stepped up to one of the openings and narrowed his Eyes as he used his Talent to see. His eyesight burned a bit but he could see fine lines glowing under the surface of the mountain!

He had never seen anything like it at all! Even his best weaving to gather Qi looked like child's play compared to it! He followed the lines until they flowed towards the red stone at the center.

The stone was like a sun! Just what was the mountain!

He also confirmed what that team was after now. There was nothing else he knew of on the island worth a damn but that stone was worth everything if it could be harvested!

The odd thing was Haro being blind and deaf to it. It was not hidden by any means yet his ring spirit remained unaware. There was no way those visitors would have been touched by a kraken like he was so it had to be visible to them too.

A thought occurred to him.

"Haro, share your senses with me for a moment please." It was not something they normally would do but now that he was an actual Divine Realm, there was no harm in it. His mind was full of visions rather than words but the double vision was still a bit nauseating.

Lind closed his eyes and saw the cavern as Haro did. It was empty!

There was nothing in it at all, not even the brown plant!

A smile crept over his face as he stood up and simply cast some light sand particles into the air.

Sure enough, they bounced off the stone but Haro had no idea something was there!

[What?!] Lind smirked but did not elaborate.

"They accepted my proposal. I will cultivate and protect. Let's see what the future holds." Lind resumed his cultivation and pondering the Mysteries to add them to his dantian.
