Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1454 - 1453 - Fey vs Berserker

Chapter 1454 - 1453 - Fey vs Berserker

The battles at the higher Immortal tiers were getting longer as time went on. The elimination rounds were relatively fast but as the more experienced advanced, the more enduring the combatants became.

Knowing how to mitigate damage or waiting for a key strike could make for a drawn out fight but there were also those that were too compatible.

Constant exchanges may seem exciting at first but when no resolution came in days leading to weeks, it became just as boring as the slow ones.

Still, that was why the various screens could be swapped to something else to fill the time.

Even with all that, the bracket for the Sovereign Tiers came up with a pair that almost the entire arena tuned into.

The Goddess of Life and Death, Fey Frey, was now facing an old legend, the Berserker. The man carried far too many weapons to be possibly of use, but the legends of the man made it clear only a fool would think so.

His slim body was also not one to lend credence to great strength, but again, only a single glance at his aura would dispel that particular notion.

His face was hidden by his long hair. His robes and swords were in rough shape but the aura on them was clearly grade 7 or above.

Fey, on the other hand, was power incarnate. No one had been able to handle her at all. She had not even suffered so much as a scratch.

She stood across from the rail thin man yet no one doubted she could face him. The Harmonic Dragon that had not flinched at any of the previous battles was clearly uncomfortable.

If previous patterns held, the Berserker would push to start the fight and seem bored but he was far from that. He was smiling!

"I must say, I sought out only your Father, but you are a promising foe as well. I will enjoy killing you." He was not speaking from malice. She could feel it. Fey also felt the danger just flowing off his aura.

It was like a storm barely contained and the man had no intention of holding back once he began.

"I walk with death as much as life. Do not mistake the fact that you may be the one to die." A laugh came from the man. It was pure joy!

"You truly believe that! Excellent! I truly will engrave your life into my swords! You will live forever in their memory!" Fey frowned at his words. For all the bloodlust coming from him, there was still no malice at all.

It was joy, serenity, and even respect. It was very odd but seemed to match him well.

"I am ready any time." She snapped the judge out of his stupor as he slowly nodded. His shimmering golden hair had dulled in their presence.

[I wish to reiterate that death is not required to win but is understood as an unfortunate byproduct. If, however–] A blood aura exploded as the Berserker sent the judge flying. The sound of swords whistling were heard but Fey was calm.

She vanished from her spot and the stone exploded as 3 rough blades tore into the surface. The Berserker was now moving faster to the point even the weavings could not keep up.

Fey calmly pulled out her swords as the Dao of Life and Death appeared. Some expected an even fight but all were shocked as the Dao of Bloodlust snapped through the 2 powerful Daos like a hot knife through butter!

She finally looked disturbed but only just. Her stance shifted and sword aura slashed out with far more condensed power.

The very stone tile beneath them ceased to exist before the strikes even met!

Once the 2 attacks met between the pair, they were both sent sailing backwards yet they were both able to stop themselves. Ring out was not going to be an option anyway as it was clear the platform was breaking down.

Concern flared in the judge's eyes until emerald light flared in all the weavings. A presence also appeared next to him.

The combatants did not notice that their judge had been reinforced but neither had the bandwidth to spare.

"YES! YES! MORE!" A distorted voice came ripping out of the Berserker as his aura skyrocketed. It could go even higher?!

Fey was clearly struggling now. She was uninjured but was not able to overcome her opponent's strength. Some wondered if she was truly going to die as they glanced at the new helper for the judge.

Yet, the man never moved. He was grim, but he did not show any sign of interfering.

Fey finally pushed herself farther than ever before. Her disparate eyes lit up with death and life respectively but her hair also glowed! The Daos of Life and Death finally drove back the Berserker.

Rather than get angry, he was thrilled! He was tossing out his swords like they were toys but the deadly aura was wrapped around them. The weavings were glowing even stronger now to contain the fight.

The audience and other battles were not affected but those able to spare a glance were getting concerned if not for their host acting to contain them personally. Lind Frey stood like a pillar that would not bend.

The battle became a back and forth at that point. The swords once left carved into the stone of the platform flew back to the Berserker as an even thicker aura covered them. He was also gaining muscles which no one had ever heard of before.

"FINALLY! I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGHT LIKE THIS IN SO LONG!" The once too long hair now became relatively normal as bright red eyes were revealed on a rather plain face if not for the sinister aura flowing from it.

The Berserker's smile was nearly splitting his face in half as he laughed. He finally vanished entirely and Fey lost her arm covered in the Dao of Life. It simply vanished!

The blood exploded from her shoulder but she calmly swung out with her remaining blade to elicit a scream at last from the Berserker. He appeared with a massive gash along his back festering with the Dao of Death.

Normally, that would be his end, but it healed before their very eyes! Fey was shocked at last but she noticed her arm in his free hand. Her vivid green eye flared and the arm was pulled from his grasp.

It smoothly reattached once more but her sword was destroyed. The blade was gone and only part of the hilt remained.

The now hulking form of the Berserker finally turned and any trace of sanity was gone. He was now just a killing machine.

His free hand chopped down and the feeling of destruction came with it!

Fey was tossed like a puppet with its strings cut into the barrier far above. Her robes were shredded with her body. It was recovering, but far too slowly to matter.

Twisted laughter came from the Berserker as he launched himself upward with the clear intent to kill.

His blades were a centimeter from slicing her into pieces when the weaving reacted. Bars of emerald light latched his limbs and torso. The Dao was also bled away quickly as sanity returned with his shrinking frame.

Rage crossed his face until he truly took in Fey. She was completely unconscious and barely alive.

The fight was over.

His last attack had nearly killed her but her Dao of Life had saved her. Without it, she would have died.

He forcibly pushed down his Dao and the aura dispersed to reveal that while he came through unscathed, his robes and swords did not. Over ⅔ of them were shattered or beyond any hope of repair while his robes were essentially gone.

In comparison, Fey had come out much better as she only lost 1 sword and her robes were repairing as he looked on.

"Are you in control?" A voice surprised him as he had not felt anyone come up behind him. He looked back to see 2 cold emerald orbs staring down at him. The sheer power excited him but he would be disqualified if he did not hold back now.

"I am. I would restrain me until she is safely gone to be safe." Lind Frey nodded but he only glanced at the judge.

[Immortal Berserker is the winner by knockout!] It had been so sudden that few noticed over 3 days had passed in the interplay between them! The crowd roared while some breathed a sigh of relief.

If not for the rule that an unconscious opponent was defeated, Fey would have been killed without mercy!

"When we face each other, I will address this." The tone was ice cold but the Berserker was only happy to hear it.

"I welcome all you can give. Bring me death or become the next step on my path of blood! I am so happy you are here!" Lind looked down at him but there was no disgust, just the coldness.

"Look forward to facing death then." He vanished and the restraints also disappeared. The Berserker was practically dancing as he then felt a draft. Battle crazy as he was, there was some decorum even he adhered to.

He marched off to get some robes. He did not care for decorations, they just had to cover him.

The brackets were such that he would not see Lind Frey until the finals but that was fine. He had few obstacles left!
