Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1443 - 1442 - You Have Chosen Death

Chapter 1443 - 1442 - You Have Chosen Death

Fey had been one of the few to register early for the tournament. She was the Goddess of Life and Death. It would be shocking if she was not in the tournament but no one had ever expected she would also be in the alchemy contest!

She breezed through creating a pill that had 2 opposing effects at the Law Grade level. She was not as good as Lind in achieving such a thing but her Daos allowed her to make something unexpected.

A pill that could save someone on the brink of death or absolutely kill someone at the peak of the Sovereign Tier.

It had been sealed the moment it was understood and even she could not argue. Such a pill was too dangerous to allow normal security.

It did broaden her horizons though on making pills. She knew it was the limit to have 2 effects to a pill and it was considered the height of alchemy to make them.

Compared to elixirs that could do so even at grade 1, pills still held far more potent effects overall.

They were also more consistent which made them more appealing.

She now stood in the fighting area for Sovereign Tiers. The registration and slot assignment were done, but unlike other areas, only 3 battles at a time were held.

The weavings could not contain the power otherwise.

Her first opponent was a demon with a hulking frame. His cobalt eyes looked at her like a predator finding prey. He sneered as his knuckles cracked and his bulging muscles actually creaked!

His upper body was bare but the pants were of a high quality leather she identified as dragon scale.

His feet were bare on the stone as well but she felt like they were as dangerous as any weapon. The same with his fists.

"I never killed a Goddess before. Maybe you should become my woman before I wring your pretty neck?" She knew he was trying to enrage her but she did not underestimate him any more than he did her.

Despite his foolish words, his guard was up and he was ready to dodge any attack.

Mind games were not useless but she stayed silent.

"A reminder, the battles between Sovereign Tiers include possible death. We cannot stop it if you go that far but if you try to kill an opponent that has surrendered, you will be disqualified and possibly crippled." The judge was a low Sovereign Tier Harmonic Dragon but there was a peak pair of Sovereign Tiers looking on.

They were an aged man and woman from one of the production guilds. They had no chance to advance but had happily volunteered to restrain contestants in exchange for resources for themselves or their chosen disciples.

Fey nodded as did the demon. They both knew the chances of death were not low in the coming fight.

"Begin!" The dragon dropped their hand and leapt back. The demon vanished instantly but Fey calmly took a single step back. A fist broke the sound barrier as it reappeared where she had been standing.

She ducked quickly as a foot appeared at an impossible angle to the fist. A Space Law?

The demon then appeared whole in front of her but only for a moment. The stone cracked as he vanished again. It was not speed, but space itself being distorted.

Fey calmly dodged more attacks but her opponent hardly seemed winded. He suddenly stopped and looked at her with respect.

"Goddess, you sense my intent to kill and thus dodge. Yet, you do not strike back, why?" His question made those watching pause. They had been cheering the skill of the Goddess but now understood she held back.

"You have not committed. You do strike to kill but there is no malice in it. I dislike killing honorable people." Her words made the demon smile.

"My apologies. It was my mistake." The tension in the platform changed. What had been a friendly bout now became deadly. Fey nodded at him as she pulled out her swords.

One exuded a disturbing aura of death but the other strangely felt like it could soothe the soul. The demon actually gulped before he vanished again.

Fey quickly brandished her blades as all four limbs attacked her from impossible angles.

The sound of metal on metal stunned the audience but then it was clear the demon had a primary element of metal at play. The demon had not only control of Space Laws but had made his body a weapon!

Fey frowned as she fought. The intent to kill was clear but malice remained absent. He was simply intent on destroying her to win. She disliked that.

"If you do not fight seriously, you will die." The attacks intensified and gravity shifted against her but she simply touched her belt. Gravity returned to normal instantly.

She had long guarded against such attacks.

The demon appeared again but now his body shimmered with streaks of metal. His lavender skin actually took on the color of metal ore. His fingers became as sharp as any weapon as he suddenly began to engrave!

A weaver!

Fey actually narrowed her abyss and green eyes as her feeling of danger shot upward. She went to dodge and found the air like mud!

"You asked for this, Goddess." The demon connected the sigils and Fey felt her body was like lead. It no longer answered her commands.

The demon vanished again and that time his fists and feet struck her true. Blood flew as her body was carved deeply.

She could not stop him but her face remained calm. She then raised her swords and the barriers around them strained.

The demon suddenly appeared on his hands and knees in shock. His weaving was shattered!

The bloody Fey stared at him coldly as she stood up slowly.

"You tried, but now you must decide. Will you live or die?" Her weapons were held at the ready but she did not move. She had promised her Father to give her opponents a choice.

Her Daos were so powerful that if invoked, few could stop them. She had to give them the choice.

She agreed. The demon was enraged.

"I gave you my answer already! We fight with our lives on the line! I will have no regrets!" Fey looked at him and the crowd felt a chill pass over them.

"You do not understand. If I kill you, you will die completely. No soul will survive. You will end here and now." The demon's aura shot upward as he broke free of her restrictions and blood flowed from his orifices.

"I will not run from my fate! I will face you with all I have!" His aura increased and now his body seemed sharp like a sword. Fey finally smiled as she held up her sword of life.

"Then we fight." He did not vanish as his limbs were what disappeared. His main body remained yet his limbs seemed like phantoms. They appeared instantly and incessantly.

Fey was actually struggling at first but many noticed she quickly seemed to be adapting. Despite the injuries she was enduring, she did not falter.

In fact, she seemed only to grow stronger!

The demon finally stopped attacking as exhaustion filled his features. His broad face was covered in sweat but fear was clear.

"You–you are a monster!" Fey stood before him, covered in blood, but strong and terrifyingly disturbing as she smiled at him.

"I gave you the choice. You chose–death." Her aura shifted and finally the audience all felt their souls shiver. The woman before them was a legend and they now understood why.

The demon actually smiled at her. His face was relaxed as he simply let go of his defenses.

"I did not choose death. I embrace it. You are an idol among us, Goddess. I am glad to die by your blades." Fey frowned but then her aura shifted and all felt a phantom of their own death passed over their eyes.

She seemed to move slowly but the demon felt the blade of death slice his head, heart, and soul all in one go. His body fell apart as his soul dispersed and the duel came to an end.

Fey looked back as the demon's body disintegrated and his soul followed. She had not benefited from the fight at all. It was a waste of time.

Her body healed quickly without the aid of pills or elixirs. The judge called the duel in her favor but she felt no satisfaction.

"Useless." She stepped off the stage but felt a pair of eyes focus on her. She looked to the side and saw a slim man covered in blades.

She had heard of him but only now saw him. The Immortal Berserker. Despite his Dao title she actually felt a threat from him. A Goddess was endangered by an Immortal.

He only bowed to her and she moved to the recovery area. She was the first to kill in the tournament but she doubted she was far from the last. Sovereign Tiers would not give up until the end.

Many Sovereign Tiers were going to die in the tournament. She knew it not because of her Daos but because of instinct. She would not surrender until the very end and others would be the same.

She sighed as many would choose death rather than life. They were that desperate. Her Father was not a fool. He was moving the world forward one way or the other.
