Chapter 1388 - 1387 - Missed Time
Chapter 1388 - 1387 - Missed Time
Lind slowly blinked open his eyes as he heard the normal chirps and rustles of the forest around him. He felt lethargy all throughout his body. It was like he had just woken up after an extensive workout.
He was actually thirsty and hungry too.
He looked around and noted he was on a bed he did not recognize but it was clearly his living area. The cultivation mat had been folded neatly next to his shelf of study materials.
He found no note or jade slip but he could guess Barbatos had him placed on the bed. How long had he been out? What happened to him?
He felt like he got lost in his Forging but then he felt shocked to see his cultivation. Peak of low Sovereign Tier?! How?!
He could not have possibly absorbed enough Qi or progressed his Laws that much! He had barely put a dent in his control and now he had to start over!
The main issue with the Sovereign Tier was that each advancement was too massive. It was part advancement and part learning to control the explosive step in power.
He feared even trying anything aside from weaving.
He sighed and went to engrave a sigil but pain lanced through him and he felt foolish to boot.
"I advanced so much, of course I am running on empty." If he was forcibly pulled ahead, it made sense that he was so lethargic and sore. Anyone else would likely be dead.
He checked his vitality and sure enough, it was lower than it should be but not by a massive amount thankfully. He was still deep in the prime of his life, even youth for an Immortal.
He summoned some elixirs and was stunned at how few were left. Where had they gone?
[Master, you need to focus on recovering and I will fill you in.] Haro spoke up and he became grim. It was not good if Haro was involved.
"Are Abby and her sister ok?" He felt a tenuous connection suddenly to all 3 spirits. He was literally starved of Qi!
He downed the elixirs and began to cultivate but kept an ear out.
[Sigh, you need not worry. You protected us but Heaven and Earth would not have caused us harm. The moment was for you alone but far too soon for you. If you were not a Divine Progenitor Dragon and a True Lord on top of it, you would have suffered severe depletion of your life force at the best.] Lind nearly stopped but he continued.
He listened and felt shock fill his heart.
He had been unconscious for almost 2 years! The Demonic Soul Sextant recreation had put him in greater danger than he had realized!
Yet, the next part made him completely stop.
"What do you mean a Dao descended? I have touched on Dao like my harmony and nothing like you describe ever happened." Lind felt better but just a bit. Haro's words mystified him.
He had touched on Dao in his latest tribulation but that had been nothing compared to his recent experience.
[Your Dao of Defiance has long been nurtured and built up over your entire cultivation journey, Master. I suspect the very slow transformation and progress of your harmony over the last 43,000 years give or take the time spent as a living soul, let you absorb it safely.] Lind nodded but then frowned.
"I am not that old, am I?" He had to admit he had lost track of time but that number felt wrong before he recalled the problem. Long stretches of time in places where the flow of time was not the same as the outer world.
How did Immortals measure their lives really? Birthdays became kind of useless since they lived so long. Strictly speaking, Lind was a child in the Immortal Realm.
In personal time, he might be closer to 60,000 years with all the variances in time and other issues. A few thousand lost in Inheritances, special realms, study, and just running his various powers.
Time really did fly? Mortals felt like decades had slipped away as they age but Immortals lost track of millennia so quickly.
Lind pushed the deviation of thoughts aside as he focused on what happened.
"So what did I do?" He realized he could not trigger such a thing again or he could face dangerous issues in the future.
[Given you have experienced it, I am no longer restricted but understand it does not normally happen for an Immortal at all. An aged expert, as a final act of their craft or Arts might try to invoke it for the benefit of their sect or power but they would die in the attempt.] Haro's voice was dead serious as he spoke in Lind's mind.
He focused on cultivation as he learned something shocking.
Dao can descend under the right conditions. The related Laws had to be fully developed and a deep understanding of an entire focus that bound those Laws together. The Dao of Fire, for instance, would incorporate Laws of Burn, Conduction, Transfer, and so forth.
Divine Realm cultivators had to consolidate as many Laws into Dao to truly be on par with higher Tier cultivators. Dao was the foundation of their power but only that, the foundation.
That very foundation was lethal to Immortals with ease, thus it was damn near impossible for Immortals to reach the point Lind had.
[Given your various unique circumstances and the revelations in the Divine Inheritances, your mind and dantian are vastly different even compared to your fellow 6 elementals. Your half-step elemental nodes, you were receptive when you pushed yourself so far.] Haro summed it up and Lind could only agree.
He understood he was in a precarious but possibly beneficial circumstance.
The Dao of Forging had pushed him far beyond his limits but in exchange for surviving the ordeal, he had advanced at a rapid pace!
It was no wonder he was at the peak of the low Sovereign Tier. Dao was like supercharged fuel! Still, it had drastic downsides. Being vulnerable for years at a time after was no good, plus only his other 2 professions gave him such danger.
Weaving especially could be an issue but elixir mastery was likely the farthest from achieving Dao. He had only just learned of a whole new field so there were likely more Laws he had yet to even touch on.
Weaving was much closer to Forging but it was possible that there was far more to it as well. Weaving was accepted in the Immortal Realm far more than in the mortal realms. Yet, he had always kept finding each Clan, sect, or other power had various uses and sigils.
He had much farther to go in that profession but he could now tell he was far closer when comparing it to his Forging.
His Forging had also gone through a ridiculous change. He used the smelting pot and it was like he was just breathing to achieve his goals!
He made a very simple storage treasure but it was like he could see the gaps to Forge more effects or intent into the dark bracelet! Further, he could now alternate all 3 elemental sets with but a thought.
In less than a few moments, he was done. He held a peak Law Grade storage bracelet that he made with such ease it shocked him. Previously, it would have taken careful planning, days to prepare the materials, and finally 3 days to Forge to completion.
Unlike the repairs or improvements from before, making something from raw materials was much more intensive.
He suddenly jumped up and examined his ring. They were gone!
"Haro, where are the artifacts and weapons?!" He had made a bunch while waiting for Barbatos to arrive but they were now all gone.
[Per your plans, I dispensed them to Barbatos. He gave them to whomever you tagged while the others were bound to other owners.] Lind sighed in relief but that brought a new issue to his forefront.
"Do you know of anything that is going on?" No words came but Haro conveyed a complete lack of knowledge on that front.
[I believe there is always someone outside waiting for you to wake. Once Barbatos took the weapons, I was barely able to activate the wards to keep people out.] Lind nodded and confirmed the wards were working quite well. He was even surprised to see no sign of degradation.
The restoration of Qi had improved dramatically, it seemed, in 2 short years.
He deactivated the wards and a familiar scent arrived but he sighed at it. Of all people, why that boy?
He swung his door inward and found a sleeping human boy on his stoop. No one would dare harm him as he was a dragon in human form.
The youngest child of the bronze earth dragon was there. Lind was about to kick him when his emerald eyes narrowed.
His left arm snapped out and clasped something firmly in mid-air just by his body. The same hiding technique as the boy but far more profound application of it nearly got by his distracted mind.
"I take it you are the elder sister then?" He caught nothing but a light laugh preceded the air shimmering to reveal a young girl with her left wrist in his grasp. He did not let go as a familiar chill flowed down his spine.
He was wrong. The young dragon boy had been right. He just might steal his sister away.
She was a spirit's cursed battle maniac!
