Chapter 1385 - 1384 - Demonic Soul Sextant
Chapter 1385 - 1384 - Demonic Soul Sextant
The artifact was made up of dark metal and had fine inscription lines along each piece. The 6 lenses were crystals and glass mixed for each demonic element. It seemed like the arms could be adjusted to various points from each other for some reason.
He tried to decipher the arrays but it was unlike anything he had ever seen. Even sigils seemed simple compared to what he was seeing. Sigils were an entire idea or intent given form and element power connected by traces to make complex effects in far more efficient space than inscription could achieve.
Yet, the arrays in front of him seemed like an entirely different branch he had never touched on. It intrigued him but for the moment he looked at if he could even repair the base materials.
The demonic witch laid out some ores for him to examine but his eyes widened slightly as he saw they were rather special.
One was dark violet but had an almost spiritual vibe to it. The ore was more stone than metal but he had only heard legend of it.
"Demonic Spirit Ore." He spoke its name but had only ever read about it. It was a Law Grade ore after all and no one was quite sure of the conditions to nurture it. He had tried to create demonic Seeds to produce materials but the more esoteric never appeared.
It was not as simple as demonic elements flooding a vein of ore.
"I am unsure of the truth, but it is said a place underground where many demons died and were never recovered can be the key to the birth of this treasure. I only know it was found in a deep mine where many bodies were found. No one knows what happened but the ore had been taken by me long ago as tribute. I never let it go until today." He looked up in surprise and she read his face.
"I may be cursed but I am not forced to be destitute. My possessions are useful to actually facilitate my actions like now. I will feel a compulsion sometimes but unlike many items I have had to give up, this one is solely my decision." He nodded and looked at the rest of what she had laid out on the casting table.
He saw a set of 6 demonic elemental crystals at the peak of grade 7. Law Crystals were impossible to expect but Lind smiled as he could improve them when they fused with the glass. The last 2 ores were odd.
One was silver with cobalt veins in it. He had not seen it before nor did he know of it. He felt like it was similar to the Demonic Spirit Ore. He let his senses sink into it and was shocked to feel a beastial reaction from it!
"That was originally simple Dream Silver but has been soaked in the lifeblood of a demonic Blue Fire Salamander. They are rare but the process is straightforward. The Dream Silver can absorb mental images when properly refined but as a raw ore it takes it all." He felt revulsion at such a practice but there was no feeling of a soul.
It was more like the last thoughts of a dying beast as she described.
"What is it called now, then?" It was still Dream Silver but had been made into an alloy essentially.
She shrugged her shoulders at his question.
"Generally the kind of beast dictates the name but demonic beasts with such pure elemental power are so rare that I know of no official name for this one." He nodded as normally beasts were a mixture of elements even at the mortal realm.
Stone drals were the closest to the personification of earth Qi but even they had variations of purity.
There was a dominant element usually in most beast bloodlines but if it is Divine, they will be a mix of all 6 in specific ways.
He checked and blue fire Qi reacted strongly but that was not all. The cobalt veins lit up and he felt a shift in the ore.
Its characteristics became clear to him and his emerald eyes lit up as a name came to him.
"Blue Fire Death Silver." The room felt a slight pressure from the Heavens and both cultivators realized it was not Lind naming it but just grasping what it truly was.
The final ore was a more standard metal used to balance other metals. It was so black it absorbed light to blur the edges. He smiled at the familiar weight that was greater than its size.
"Shadow steel. Such a versatile demonic metal." He prepared the smelting pot for the ores and resumed examining the artifact.
He asked no questions of her as he did not want any bias yet. He could not interpret the arrays but he fiddled with the arrangements and a sudden impulse faintly pulled his attention to her.
The artifact detected her!
He examined the effect and realized what he was holding.
"A Demonic Soul Sextant?" She could not widen her eyes but the spike of her scent told him she was surprised.
"You know of this artifact?" He nodded. It was only old records but there was a place he had heard of them.
"A very long time ago, a demonic power called the Blood Empire had extensive records of various legends and items. Some were impossible to confirm but the details at least hinted some were real." He recalled the nearly crumbling jade slip that had been transcribed with exhaustive records from somewhere.
She nodded at his words.
"If they were founded from higher realm demons, it is possible such records were kept for future use when they rose up again." He agreed but the vile secrets at the heart of the empire meant they were doomed to fall or become Fiend resources.
He began to understand what it was for but none of the records had formations like what he saw.
"Where is this from?" She shrugged her shoulders.
"It has been in my family, a genuine possession, since long before my elders were born. It is tied to our blood and souls. If you arrange the elements according to primary and secondary nodes, it will be able to find anyone connected to the registered users." It was like a reverse Soul Slate!
It was not about having the specific imprint but just a familial one and you could locate someone so long as you were in the same layer as them!
"What happened to it?" She finally got up and pointed at the broken inscriptions.
"No one could maintain or fix the formations. They eventually broke, not helped by the fact it was sped up by my use of it to exterminate my rivals in the family." She was so nonchalant about it that he understood she really did not shy away from her past.
"No one?" She nodded and became grim.
"I had it assessed once and the formations were so exquisite and profound it made them bleed from their eyes to delve it." Only 1 kind of item matched the description but it was a level beyond him entirely.
A Divine artifact! Not grade 8 but true Dao Grade! The fact Immortals could use it was by design. How could he even try to fix that?!
He was troubled as unlike the flying circular swords from before, the Demonic Soul Sextant was truly beyond him. He would have to start from scratch but it might lose its function.
The artifacts he read about needed an imprint of the target to work, not just a family member. He pondered what to do but realized he truly was dealing with a level of production beyond his ability.
"I may fail, do you still wish for me to try?" She nodded and he realized there was likely no one else that could even attempt to fix it.
Even if they waited till he was farther along, it would not change the fact the basic foundation was beyond him.
The function, however, of the artifact was not. In fact, he was uniquely suited to it.
His harmony had always been powerful when it came to soul related weapons or artifacts.
The metals were now molten but he had to make some other preparations as the alloy had to be fused first. He understood what he had to make and the smelting pot would do its work while he prepared.
He crushed the crystals and Forged the lenses. He understood he was imitating part of his Eyes and Touch Talents into them. Even the existing sextant lenses were now perfectly clear to him.
He even dislodged them and incorporated the fresh material with the old. It made the lenses not only repaired but far stronger as sigils flared until they were ready.
He tested them against each demonic element and they worked perfectly but he frowned as a thought came to him.
If he was going to make it, he wanted to make it right.
A dark and smokey crystal appeared with a bright green one. Demonic harmonies were not so well understood but there were 2 he did understand and he tried something out.
He reinserted the lenses as that was simple for him. He then placed each harmonic crystal and the arrays actually responded!
He smiled as he felt a much stronger reaction to the witch.
"What are those?" He looked up at her and he only smiled before crushing both harmonic crystals into a glass fusion.
"I think I have a way." He then began to draft up a new schematic based on the original. Only that one had a 7th lens. A harmonic lens.
Whole new ideas were born but he focused on his current goal. He would have to go to his absolute limits for what was to come.
