Chapter 1334 - 1333 - Sisters
Chapter 1334 - 1333 - Sisters
Abby was struggling with incorporating Light Laws into her skills as she saw her Master cradling the newborn spirit. She felt it when it took its first 'breath,' as her Master called it.
The spirit had not fully formed when so many changes happened at once but she felt her Master had changed. He felt stronger but also more profound than before.
He did not seem to realize that there were lights dancing around him. She recognized them for what they were but was restricted from telling him.
He was close to breaking through but seemed to lack a catalyst for the final step. It was not about a bottleneck but like Heaven and Earth were holding him back for some reason.
She wondered if the new spirit was the cause.
A thwack to the top of her head brought her back to her training.
"Stop being distracted, you let the Law comprehension collapse. Focus." The bald dark skinned man was immensely more powerful than her. He was tied to their Master but even she could tell he had far more power than Lind.
"Sorry, Senior Haro." He smiled as she began again. She was trying to focus but a part of her was hearing a tiny voice. It did not have words but a desire to know and connect.
It was not scared but it was looking for a bond. Her Master was gentle and aware but for some reason he did not act to reciprocate the call.
Finally, her attempt to grasp the Light Laws failed and she had to act.
"Master, why are you not answering the call?" Both Haro and Lind looked at her.
Haro was confused clearly but her Master instead carried the curled up child in his arms to her and then sat in front of her. The room was sparse to lessen distractions but it still had seats for people to relax in.
"They are not asking for me. They are asking for you, Abby." She scrunched up her narrow face but then looked at the small form and gently brushed the small head with her delicate hands.
A smile grew on her face without her knowing but she felt warmth as she was so close to the new spirit.
The connection between them was odd in that she felt both close and distant to them. She felt like they were always connected and yet the Laws inherent in the spirit were none she could ever touch on.
While she had expanded her abilities, it had been arduous and had shown limits as well. The spirit in front of her was so vulnerable and she felt the need to protect them.
She gently took the spirit in her arms and both men backed off. Abby was humming a song she had heard the seniors use for the small children they were consoling.
She followed her instinct and connected to the feeling in her mind.
Instantly, the spirit in her arms opened their eyes sleepily before smiling up at her. A glow came over their body as changes took effect.
Before, the child was completely androgynous but now they had a head full of blond hair and feminine features while still just a small child. She snuggled up to Abby and she felt like a part of her that had been missing was complete.
[Sister–warm.] Words appeared in her head and Abby felt warmth in her chest spread around as tears formed. She hugged the child and nodded.
"I am your sister! We are sisters!" She never wanted to let go! She had seniors and her Master but now she had family! It felt so different from her other bonds.
A warm hand gently patted her head and she looked up at the smiling face of her Master. She smiled as she continued to hum at the now sleeping spirit.

Lind looked on as the toddler played with Abby. After bonding in a way he did not quite grasp, the child spirit had become far more energetic. She was very attached to Abby but played with him too.
Haro was hurt that she hid from him! It amused both Abby and Lind when Haro tried to play with the child but she ran to one of them to hide! She would even return to his arm until Haro stopped pestering her.
The familial bond between the 2 spirits made him happy but he wondered if he had influenced it at all. There was no real way to test that theory without fusing more artifacts but that was far beyond him.
Haro assured him artifacts created by the same person would act like siblings sometimes if they were taken by the same cultivator but there was no precedence for the current situation.
The visceral rejection Abby had when he revealed the 3rd Inheritance before made him think she was revolting against her purpose but seeing the pair playfully doing hide and seek made him realize there was more to the key artifacts than he realized.
The Inheritors were essential in the original plan but he could bypass the requirement if he so wished.
Still, he was not in any rush. He wanted to give the younger spirit time to assert themselves but he also felt like he was at the threshold of the next Tier.
He could become a Sovereign Tier anytime soon. He did not feel the restriction of a bottleneck but it was like he was missing some piece of the puzzle instead.
It felt odd.
He felt a tug on his robes and looked down at the precocious face of the child. Her blond hair framed a chubby face. Her eyes were vibrantly gold but full of innocence and curiosity.
"Masta' come play with us!" Her childish voice was definitely an affectation but it was adorable. He picked her up and moved over to Abby who looked guilty as she had clearly lost track of her.
He noticed the small spirit was not simply acting like a child but truly lacked the maturity many spirits showed him before. Haro did affirm nascent spirits usually were dormant for centuries before awakening.
Abby was normal in that regard but the toddler was an unusual but not unheard of case. Some cultivators had such divine gifts that the spirits could awaken early.
As the 2 spirits became closer and played, the younger spirit became more mature at an accelerated rate in some regards. His right arm became more responsive and he could activate more of its functions.
{Fused Lock Tube}
{Inheritor: 1}
{Legacies claimed: Severance Legacy, Iron Leaf Legacy, Solaris Legacy…}
{Current Slots: 87}
{Open Slots: 12}
He narrowed his eyes at the fact only 99 slots total were available and realized he had taken up a slot permanently!
He checked Abby's interface and confirmed that was not true for the Inheritance of Death. It seemed his unusual interactions had locked out a slot.
He was curious about the fact the Inheritance of Creation showed an Inheritor but the Inheritance of Death had not shown one earlier yet now it did.
They were not potential but true Inheritors. Why hadn't Abby reacted to such news? What was going on?
It was definitely not him but then who were the Inheritors?
He tried to check with his Clan but they had no idea any more than he did. Nothing was seriously wrong but he let it go.
Instead he focused on the sister spirits and helped Abby guide the newly born spirit. He learned a great deal from them and noticed that as they became closer, his arms increased in power.
He also felt a pull to go to the 3rd Inheritance even more. He realized there would come a time that he would be forced to go even if he did not want to.
It made him frown.
"Master?" His emotions had leaked out it seemed and both women looked at him in concern but Haro looked knowingly from across the room.
"Don't worry, just thinking about the future." He glanced at the sigils on his arm and wondered how he could free the sisters from their fate. He refused to abandon them.
He simply played with the toddler and let her enjoy her life.

Haro looked at his Master and the strange sibling spirits. He had told the truth to his Master that such a young spirit tool usually stayed dormant but he had held back his observations.
Lind was having an unforeseen effect on the 2 spirit girls. It was not just being fused with their artifact bodies. He was changing them in ways he had never seen any cultivator achieve in his long life.
He dared not express his concerns as he knew his Master's goals. He did not see spirits as disposable tools. He refused to let them become obsolete.
He had been held by several True Lords over his existence but Lind was an outlier by any measure. The thing that endeared him, however, was the aspect that drove him.
Life was not a tool. It had many forms and none of them were tools.
He did not create spirit tools to be used and abandoned, but to be allowed to become their own being in the future. He wondered if the very few that were able to claim those tools knew that.
He was about to return to his ring when he saw a spark randomly appear around Lind's body. He felt shocked as that indicated he was ready to ascend but it was suppressed!
Heaven and Earth were keeping him the Radiant Tier?! Why?!
He returned to his ring but contemplated that the Inheritance ahead of them held the answer. He looked forward to what Lind would become in the future.
