Chapter 1312 - 1311 - Walking your own Path
Chapter 1312 - 1311 - Walking your own Path
"Pardon me, senior, but am I allowed to ask about the choices?" Lind bowed to the woman and she smiled at him with a nod.
[Of course.] She waved her hand and the open field vanished to be replaced by a courtyard with a fountain bubbling with water that shimmered in ways far beyond simple water. He found his Eyes hurt just from looking at it!
The golden wood table was low to the ground with padded mats around it. He sat down comfortably as the spirit sat across from him. He observed many of the plants were far more profound around them.
He recognized a few!
"Serrated Black Leaf Thorn, I have not seen that in a long time." He had not been able to take a lot from Skinwalker's Inheritance but he had learned a lot about higher realm plants.
The spirit looked surprised as she glanced to the left side and saw the bush he was looking at. The dark leaves glistened with moisture but the sharp edges were not just for show. The leaf could slice flesh like a metal blade!
It was a grade 8 herb!
[You have been through a Divine Inheritance before?] He nodded at her question and relayed about Lord Skinwalker. The spirit smiled wide but then said something surprising. [I am glad that child progressed enough to make an Inheritance.]
Child? Lord Skinwalker?
Lind suddenly had context for how old the current Inheritance had to be! He was reminded that Divine Realm cultivators lived extremely long lives. It was not impossible that Skinwalker had been only an Immortal when the owner of the current Inheritance was a Divine Realm!
They began to converse about the choices and it was more diverse than he had thought.
The Inheritor path was already a no from him but he was surprised it was not straightforward as a choice.
The Inheritor path required being immersed in several areas that would allow a cultivator to quickly strengthen their Laws, elements, and even their bodies! It was a rather intensive path and he had earned the right with how perfectly he solved the riddle of the Laws.
Apparently his solution was only 1 of the ways to progress but he was the first to truly grasp the complete riddle since the Inheritance was opened. He was sorry to the creator of it as he could not be the Inheritor.
He was a 6 elemental as well as too different from any other cultivator with all 18 elements at his command.
The legacies were more like he expected but the spirit actually matched up fairly compatible ones to him!
There was one for elixir masters, weaving, and even just related to several Laws he possessed outside of the 3 considered important to the Inheritance. Just like the Inheritance of Death had some legacies that seemed beyond its focus, the Inheritance of Creation was the same.
Still, Lind frowned as he explored some of the basics of those legacies. For a natural or demonic cultivator, they would be a good match but again, his own path made limited benefits for him.
Compared to the Inheritor path, it was better but still not of much interest to him.
The legacies were like smaller Inheritances and were likely to become Ruins when the Inheritance collapsed one day. He was fascinated as it was almost like both Inheritances were like nested trials layered on top of each other.
He made a note of it as he was also looking at making a true Immortal Inheritance after all he had learned. He would be a Sovereign Tier when he started as he wanted to have the full Immortal Realm under his wing so that he can completely understand everything he could before moving to the Divine Realm.
He had a rather unique perspective and compared to his first attempt, he would be creating an Inheritance for all 3 sets of elemental Qi.
The last option was the most diverse. It was similar to the Inheritor path but rather than focusing on shaping a cultivator to Inherit the full legacy of the Inheritance of Creation, they were more general.
It was similar to structures he had built to nurture elements in his Clan. Those were used to help herbs, crystals, and other treasures be refined for use over time, but the areas described by the spirit were like a dream for 6 elementals!
Hall of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth were the most common natural elements and could be honed to peak state with various Laws associated with them. There was a Hall of Light and a Hall of Darkness related to them as well.
There were also the same for demonic elements! He had not expected that! The 3 Laws were generally associated with natural Qi so the fact the spirit affirmed demonic legacies and foundation environments was surprising.
He was tempted to see what those Halls were about but that was not the only option under the foundation choice.
She also described a place to help Immortals have a much higher chance of improving their Law comprehension far beyond what they normally could. It was like the soul and mind were invigorated by a method that intrigued him.
It was the most tempting he had heard until the last one.
Due to how he had passed the riddle, he was able to unlock a rare area that none had yet touched on. The Inheritance of Creation was not just about the Immortal Realm but touching on the next major realm.
Lind was qualified to study the Dao based on the 3 Laws that were focused on the Inheritance of Creation. He was truly interested as he had barely scratched the surface of Dao. His harmony was moving in that direction and a comparison would be appreciated!
He was a bit frustrated that he could only choose 1 before facing the next step! Even with the other choices, he would simply have the chance to use them before having to face a new trial to access another step.
If not for how he cleared the riddle, the Dao foundation path would not be open to him yet. He also learned he could only face 2 more trials after that for 2 more opportunities.
"Why so limited options?" He knew the Inheritance of Death almost refused to let people leave so he was curious about the difference.
[My creator is focused on the goal. By limiting the chances, the contenders will try their hardest to get the best result, don't you think?] She smiled at him and he slowly nodded.
Given the purpose of the 2 contrary Inheritances, it made sense to approach it both ways. Still, he wished he could fully explore all he had been told about but there was even more!
They were different in that sense. In reality, Lord Skinwalker's was the only true Inheritance he had entered. All other Divine Inheritances were made with a purpose aside from passing on a legacy specifically.
Then again, it could be said that was true of them all. All Inheritances were left behind for the following generations to carry on or maybe improve what the original started.
Lind wondered if he should seek out more if he could in the future for his own curiosity. Ruins were far more common but random so he could explore those too.
He sighed as he had a decision to make but then he narrowed his eyes.
"If I have access to a Dao foundational area, is there a place for spiritual improvement?" HIs question seemed to catch the spirit off guard but she tilted her head for a few moments. The Law foundation was likely close but he wanted to know if that aspect of neutral Qi was addressed.
The woman seemed to frown slightly before opening her eyes.
[There is such a place but it is not accessible to you yet. I can say no more on it.] That answer made Lind smile! So there were more foundation paths!
"I will go to the Dao foundational path." She smiled and the world shifted once more. He looked around and saw 3 massive structures that reached easily 200 meters into the sky. He saw elemental Qi storming around one of all 12 elements from natural and demonic Qi.
The other one felt like his mind was calm just looking at the golden doorway framed by white pillars. He quickly understood the elemental and Law Halls were clear.
He was about to turn to the last one when he noticed what was beyond the 2 buildings. Another set of golden stone steps! Just looking at them gave him a chill!
[Ignore that for now. Here.] The spirit pointed to the last building and Lind felt pressure on his entire being just trying to look at it. The dark stone was covered in vines that felt even more real than before.
The doors were cracked but solid as they slowly opened.
Lind slowly walked up and took a deep breath before walking inside. The darkened hallway entrance lit up and he was shocked once more at what awaited him.
