Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1310 - 1309 - Inheritance of Creation

Chapter 1310 - 1309 - Inheritance of Creation

Inheritances came in all shapes and sizes. Some were a series of trials to be overcome. Some were small worlds that allowed specific scenarios to be played out and judged. The most extreme was the most rare.

A living memory. It was not a simple projection or recording but a true recreation of a real time and place. Things could happen there that could not happen anywhere else. Lind Frey was one of the few that knew what miraculous things that could happen inside such an Inheritance.

The Inheritance of Death seemed to be a nested set of trials to push contenders to show how far they can go in terms of the Laws pertinent to it. Just getting inside was the first trial but then legacies pushed them to ever higher extremes.

It was a mountain they ascended and had to acquire either legacies or progress on the trials of Death, Oblivion, and Nihility. It was rumored that there were a handful of potential Inheritors but none knew their identities.

The Frey Clan even openly showed how they only saw the statistics with the cipher artifact. Nearly a decade passed before the Serenity Sect was granted jurisdiction over the Inheritance of Creation.

Considering the Laws of Growth, Restoration, and Life made up the Inheritance, they made the most sense.

The Rejuvenation Immortal allied with the Frey Clan to administer the 2 Inheritances as it also had a limitation of 100 slots.

As to any previous progress, none was revealed to the public.

Almost 4 centuries passed before a potential Inheritor finally showed up for the Inheritance of Creation. All the powers that knew the truth became excited but nothing happened after that.

Lind Frey affirmed he did not know if there were additional conditions but the Rejuvenation Immortal hinted that the extra cipher and hollow tube artifacts need to be claimed to unlock the last Inheritance.

The 2 known artifacts were not qualified for some reason even she did not know. Lind Frey did not offer any theories but many recalled the tool spirit rejecting joining with its counterpart.

Given the attack on its Inheritance, it could also be damaged and still in need of repair. Many cursed the dead young master of the destroyed Silver Crow Sect.

Lind was stirred from his memories at that point by the sound of laughter. He looked up to see Abby playing with children in the sunlight. The Rejuvenation Immortal was sitting next to him as an older man looked on from the shaded area that sat under.

The old man was a different spirit from the last Lind had met but he was forged into his body at the time of his making, so he was far older than anyone Lind had yet to meet.

Immortals measured their lives in millions of years but the spirit was billions of years old.

Both Immortals were in subdued robes compared to their usual choice for their offices. A simple gray for Lind and pale blue for the Rejuvenation Immortal. Her crimson and gold skin stood out sharply with it but both enjoyed the tea as they looked on at the impromptu game.

The children were laughing and it soothed the soul to watch.

"I have never seen them like that. They usually are disturbing with how mature they are." The Rejuvenation Immortal finally spoke but Lind smirked as he had an inkling of why that was.

The children in front of them were not actual flesh and blood but like the barrier by the Inheritance of Death. They were the entrance trial prospective cultivators had to overcome.

"The Law of Life is why. Life is a celebration of creation and Abby, despite being so much older now, is still just a child in the terms of the tool spirits." The shocked look only grew as the old man nodded. He smiled at Lind.

"Junior Lind is correct. Little Abby is from a Dao Grade artifact. To give a comparison, she is just now reaching the edge of maturity. To us, she is a little girl to be protected." His voice was deep but kind.

"Ok, but then why did they react to you like they did?" The children had hardly looked at him. It was like Lind was decoration to them!

Lind frowned before he conjured his harmonic flames. The instant they appeared, the old man and the children looked at him harshly.

He did not let them act that way long as the flames increased in intensity. The Rejuvenation Immortal felt uncomfortable but the children suddenly seemed to become ancient monsters.

Their aura increased but a voice suddenly broke the tension.

"Stop being mean to Master! I want to keep playing!" Abby innocently clapped her hands and only Lind smiled wide as the rest were confused.

"As I thought. Senior, do you understand what just happened?" He looked at the old man and saw shock cross his face.

"That is not possible! We were made by Divine Realm cultivators! How can a mere Radiant Tier change us?!" His words drew all eyes back to Lind but he merely dismissed his harmony before standing up.

"I could explain but you would reject that too. I was not sure but now I am happy to say Abby can never be used to unlock the last Inheritance. I thank you for the visit, Rejuvenation Immortal. It helped me clarify a few things about myself." She nodded in confusion but it was rude to pry.

Lind stepped out and looked up at the towering steps going up into clouds. There were no doors or structures but the children stood in front of him.

"You can't go!"

"You are not worthy!"

"You are–"

Lind held up his hand and then let all 18 elements dance as a weaving was crafted right there. He summoned a massive plate of purple platinum. It was a basic grade 7 metal but under his glowing fingers it became an intricate weaving plate.

The old man stumbled as Laws manifested with ease! The plants all began to grow! The broken branches returned to the trees they had fallen from! The dying beasts were restored to life and began to dance around the open sunlit forest!

The children that wore fine robes were unable to reject him any more.

"Master, why couldn't you do that for mine?" Abby was in awe but pouting slightly at him. He patted her head as he smiled.

"I started my path on elixirs to heal. I started Forging to help 6 elementals have their own tools and support. I began to weave because my Master was trapped by one. All my professions were born to help others and increase my strength. This Inheritance was already on my path." He then hugged her as she pouted more. "I fight and kill as I must, not any more or less. While I could comprehend Death Laws, the other 2 are much harder for me."

She nodded but looked upset. He laughed before kneeling down to the children.

"I know you are more than what is here. I am not looking to claim myself an Inheritor but I wish to continue my journey to the Sovereign Tier. May I see what I can find?" The small group looked at him with less reluctance before slowly nodding.

He smiled and then bowed to the Rejuvenation Immortal and her bound tool spirit.

"Please look after Abby. I doubt I can take her with me." The old man nodded but Abby now really got upset.

"Master! Why are you leaving me here?!" He became serious as he looked at her.

"These are your siblings and seniors. You are at a key point in your life and they can help you far more than I. Have faith that I will return." She became less reluctant but still seemed unhappy.

He turned away and looked up the pristine stone steps. Now that he was accepted, he felt no rejection to proceed but the aura of the stairs made the children seem easy.

He took a breath before he took his first step. The stone felt warm even through his boots. He also felt like his mind was feeling pressure from the 3 Laws even more than before. He was able to move up 100 steps before he came to a platform.

There were a few people there but they had a layer of dust on them to varying degrees.

How long would they have to be there for that to happen? He also noticed none of the stone had a speck of dust. The contrast made him wary but he also did not understand why they were cultivating.

The men and women were all in a lotus position and were clearly refining Laws and elemental Qi according to their techniques. His Eyes helped him confirm a few were actually close to waking up but then he saw something odd happen.

The Qi drained away into the stone! He checked his dantian but there was no issue at all. He was confused.

He finally was ready to focus on his cultivation. He had come because the Inheritance truly aligned with his path. What was going on that he could not grasp?

[You need not stop here, little dragon. These people barely passed the children but you are more than qualified after ascending as you did.] A voice boomed in his mind. He winced but then understood.

He was still only at the entrance! He moved across the platform and wished all there good luck in his heart.

He had his own journey to focus on!
