Chapter 1306 - 1305 - No Alternative
Chapter 1306 - 1305 - No Alternative
Sects often took care of their own production in house but the 3rd layer had such limited space and resources that they took a portion of their pills, elixirs, and other products from guilds and Clans that devoted their time to selling those products in bulk.
Such deals had been established millions of years ago, billions in some cases. It allowed different peaks to be still held that were conducive to the various powers without causing unnecessary battle.
It was partially successful. Banditry was nearly impossible in the Endless Peaks. The resources needed to travel or hide from various powers did not help much when land was at such a premium. The Fiends also made short work of such beings that tried to set up as well as they were a ready made food supply no one cared about missing.
The Serenity Sect was always in need of fresh supplies. They made the most important pills and elixirs in the sect but common healing and recovery pills required massive fields to keep up with demand.
The many towers and pavilions welcomed the sick and the injured of varying levels. Their purpose of training expert healers had produced honored members that even wicked powers would not dare harm.
The tallest set of towers at the center of the verdant peaks was the core of the sect. It was the most important area where the elders, vice sect masters, and the sect master resided with their direct disciples.
In the widest tower a set of floors were set aside for meetings or cultivation of VIP guests. Special arrays allowed sunlight or moonlight to illuminate gardens and courtyards.
A pure white pavilion that housed 3 individuals was sitting at the heart of a small copse of trees. The twitter of birds was not synthetic, but natural. They allowed the regulation of the insects that helped the flowers and other plants pollinate over the centuries.
The 3 women were enjoying tea and snacks quietly as they took in the scenery. One was a crimson and gold aether child, another a demon, and the last human.
The demoness had cobalt blue streaked black hair and dark lavender skin but her dark crimson robes with a sinuous dragon emblazoned on them. The human woman next to her had similar robes but hers were lined in emerald.
It denoted a direct blood relation to the founder of their Clan. Her hair was streaked with silver and white but her face looked vibrant. It was said she had aged visibly long ago but recovered her youth when her son returned from the spirit world.
The crimson and gold aether child woman across from them was the sect master. The Rejuvenation Immortal was gorgeous as all aether children were but her vitality came off her like a physical aura. It was said the ill and injured would heal just in her presence.
"Fellow Daoist Mira, I am sorry we have not had more time to simply meet like this. I remember enjoying our discussions long ago." The Rejuvenation Immortal meant her words. The demoness was a friend but not a healer. Mira was a highly experienced healer that had faced adversity and had to help build organizations from the ground up multiple times.
Her pill making skills were at the Maester level but she had no brand outside of the Frey Clan. It was clear she raised their alchemists as the signs were clear in the techniques they used.
Mira smiled back but said nothing. Firella next to her also smiled. The Rejuvenation Immortal found their smiles almost predatory. Why?
"I wish we were here simply to visit, my friend. However, I am sure you have heard what happened at the Inheritance of Death?" The Rejuvenation Immortal had strong distaste for that Inheritance but Immortal and Divine Realm cultivators found their own paths.
No one could dictate it to them and if they left behind that legacy it was only fate if someone could inherit it.
"It is hard not to hear anything related to Divine Inheritances. Supposedly, the demons found one during the time of the soulless but that was never confirmed." The pair nodded but then Mira placed a jade slip on the table.
It was well made and stood out on the simple white cloth of the table between them. It was a deep crimson color. She picked it up and sunk her aura into it.
At first, it was just a report on the loss of life and how it occurred. It made her enraged as it broke the standard treaty between all powers. Even wicked powers would not do that!
Inheritances were often equipped with spirits that could act to deny any chance to obtain the treasures within if they were sabotaged! The loss of such benefits would bring down the wrath of all sects, clans, and powers!
"This is an unforgivabl–" She was about to continue when she realized there was more in the slip. She continued to absorb the information but shot to her feet in shock.
She looked at the pair and the smiles on their faces looked truly predatory at that moment.
"You cannot be serious! This will cause a war!" Firella laughed. She looked at the demoness who seemed to be amused.
"Deadly serious. The Royal Pill Pavilion has 2 branches involved. One supplies you and the other supplies the Divine Sword Sect. The latter one has already been resolved by them. Yours is being done by us." The Rejuvenation Immortal felt they were being impossible.
They had proof, yes, of how the various guilds smuggled the artifact to a person that could enter the Inheritance but they were asking her to break a contract they had held for billions of years!
The Frey Clan was demanding the Serenity Sect break all ties with the branch supplying them! The Frey Clan would take over in the interim until the sect found a replacement or made formal contracts with the Clan.
If they did that, the upper branch of their sect could face serious repercussions!
"The Royal Pill Pavilion has been implicated by their branch masters on this layer. The Sovereign Tiers made it clear we were to be left alone so the upper branches will not act. The violation of how Inheritances are to be treated is an even worse transgression. Where will that leave the Pavilion Guild Masters?" Mira sipped at her tea after she spoke.
The Rejuvenation Immortal narrowed her eyes as it was a serious concern but not to the extent of burning the bridge between her sect and the guild. It would be a serious issue she could not decide on her own.
"You seem to think we are asking you about what will happen. As we speak, the Royal Pill Pavilion is being raided. Fey is not someone I would ever bet against. We are not destroying the Pavilion branch but the leader is ours." The Rejuvenation Immortal felt the strength go out of her legs.
The recent conflict between the founding members of the Frey Clan and the former Illusion Immortal made it clear that the power of the Frey Clan was terrifying.
Even a sliver of the Clan had wiped the floor with powerful Radiant Tiers that could level entire kingdoms inside of day!
That event had made many of its enemies rethink their plans while others abandoned them. She had even made attempts to strengthen ties even more but then her eyes narrowed.
"They disrupted our plans to get closer to you." Her words were mumbled but she remembered the elders informing her that the Royal Pill Pavilion had put pressure on them to honor their sworn contracts.
It included not using alternate trading partners without negotiating a new contract at the highest levels.
"We know. It has been a common headache with the older guilds blocking our connections at every turn. They have now exposed how corrupt their pursuit of profits was. Worse than that, is this." Mira produced a new jade slip of pure white.
The Rejuvenation Immortal quickly studied and now anger spread on her face.
"HOW DARE THEY?!" The jade slip shattered under her aura flaring. Blood appeared where the shards cut her hand. She looked at the pair but now both were nodding grimly.
"We had tainted product smuggled into our stores. We thought it was just sabotage but it seems to be a general practice to distribute tainted items to loose cultivators and low powers." Several vials of the same Stamina and Recovery Pills.
The Rejuvenation Immortal recognized instantly the pills her sect bought in mass quantities but her aura quickly picked apart that the pills were impure! They were intentionally impure!
She summoned a vial of pills she kept if she took on a new disciple and compared them. They were made by the same process! The elemental balance, quality, and brand were identical!
The only difference were the dangerous impurities in the ones Mira had shown her!
She looked up at them and the denial was long gone. In its place was rage. Pure, unadulterated rage.
"We will sever all ties with them. The upper branch will be given all of this. The Royal Pill Pavilion will need to answer for this!" Firella nodded but Mira did not move. She instead sighed.
"I am afraid this issue is wider than you imagine. It is not just the Pavilion. We have traced similar products to many of the guild shops. We have evidence for the ones that have crossed us but they could not cover all we have found in the markets. The Frey Clan has decided to drag it all into the light of day." Mira finished her tea before standing up.
The pair bowed low to her.
"We have to go. There is much to do soon." The Rejuvenation Immortal suddenly understood. The fools had pushed the Frey Clan into a position of no alternative. Instead of crippling the Clan, they had triggered an unstoppable assault on the practices they had hidden away.
She felt like the storm was only starting and they had no one to blame but themselves for annoying a Divine Dragon. Spirits help them all.
