Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1296 - 1295 - Proof of Control

Chapter 1296 - 1295 - Proof of Control

The cylinder was far more complex than anything Lind had ever encountered. He had Forged artifacts capable of looking innocuous but able to level mountains, yet the cylinder in his hand put his work to shame.

It was refined but clearly by an expert far beyond him. The principles exceeded his capacity entirely!

It had arcane symbols on top of the inscriptions but he infused his Qi into it. He immediately felt knowledge come back to him and he understood what it was.

It was a master key. It had to be given by the Inheritance or earned by certain conditions. Since the Inheritance had watched potential candidates die due to stupidity, it had taken action to stop it.

The cylinder was essentially proof that he had the right to administer the Inheritance. It also excluded his entry at the same time. Clever.

The spirit knew he had the qualifications but he was not what the creator of it was looking for.

"Muerte, huh? Were you from Earth too?" He recognized the word but was uncertain since it sounded like a Dao title. It was entirely possible it was given to him rather than taken.

He pushed past it and looked at what he now had control over.

{Open slots - 100}

{Potential Inheritors - 0}

{Trial Progress - Locked}

{Legacy Claimed - Locked}

{Living - N/A}

{Dead - N/A}

Lind smirked at a familiar layout of information. Definitely someone from Earth once more.

Still, if what Haro said was true, it was someone from before the Great One arrived. Yet, it was clear this person too was from modern Earth.

[Master, reincarnation is not all at once. Souls have to be evaluated if they are qualified for rebirth.] Haro once more spoke up but Lind noticed it seemed like familiar information to him rather than new information.

Had he encountered it before? Where?

A flash of golden skies gave him the answer. The spirit world. One of the memories he had lost it seemed.

"Haro, you seem more talkative, why?" He wondered what was going on but Haro did not hold back that time.

[You have changed, Master. You have seen more than what most Immortals would and thus I am able to inform you of more. That Inheritance Key will let you silence your rivals for now as even they cannot deny what it means.] Lind nodded but then had to think how he would regulate the Inheritance.

Just 100 slots was a tiny amount no matter what level of existence he was thinking of.

Even the special realm he competed in allowed thousands to be whittled down.

Still, he understood why. The 3 Laws the Inheritance used were very complicated and dangerous. The number of people that could master them was not large at all. Unlike pure elemental Laws or common Laws regarding life, those 3 Laws of the Inheritance were a nightmare to comprehend.

He kept studying the cylinder for more functions when he found one end had a tiny spike on it. It was not easy to see at all but it was sharp. He could easily understand what it was for. Binding with his aura was not enough!

He pricked his thumb and his blood flowed but did not go farther than the base! The arcane symbols finally lit up and he felt the presence of a spirit!

Unlike the Inheritance, the one in front of him felt familiar! It was like Haro!

The glow of symbols extruded until a small child appeared. She was pale skinned with far too large eyes but it was due to her gaunt appearance. Her hair was pale and scraggly too. It was like she was a street urchin!

Why would their creator do this?

[She is malnourished, Master. The Inheritance may not have enough of whatever she needs to grow. As a storage treasure, I am naturally nourished by things like teleportation or even tearing through space. Qi can supplement me as well but Immortal Qi is far preferable to where we started together.]

Haro spoke up and Lind nodded as he understood.

The extrusion finally stopped and she blinked her eyes only to look around in wonder. She pattered unstably at first but then became steady very quickly. She tried to pick up a jade slip but her hand was not physical enough to hold anything.

He realized parts of her were literally see through!

"You will have time to look at your leisure later. May I know your name?" The girl jumped at his voice but then tilted her head at 45 degrees as she looked at him.

"Name? What is name?" Lind felt shocked and asked for Haro to appear. The dark skinned man instantly was at his side and knelt down. The child cowered from him at first but eventually got close.

Unlike the jade slip, she could touch his hand! Her smile made him sad. It was like the most basic things made her far too happy.

"I see. Master, I think this is a naturally born spirit, not intentional. She tool is profound enough and was around the Qi or conditions necessary to allow a spirit to be born. She has no name." Lind slowly nodded before smiling gently at her.

He then lit up his hand with all 18 elements and saw her focus became hungry. It took only a moment to see she pulled on shadow, darkness, earth, and metal Qi. He focused on those and she quickly ran up to his hand.

She glanced up at him in fear but he smiled and she quickly grasped it. Power flowed from him and he was stunned to feel the Laws related to each element resonate with her.

Time seemed to flow quickly and a day later she was now a teenager. She was far more solid and emotive.

"Master! I am full!" She was rubbing her belly with a massive smile as her lithe form looked far more healthy compared to before. Haro smiled as he looked over. Lind knew nascent spirits were closer to being like Elementals in mentality rather than anything else.

"I am glad. Do you know what you are?" She nodded and pointed at the cylinder.

"Me! That is me!" He nodded but learned she knew little else. He then showed her the display that appeared in his mind by projecting it with weaving. She looked amazed before a glint of understanding passed.

"You hold the Primary Control Key of the Inheritance of Death." The words were almost robotic but he waited as she seemed to digest them. She then looked confused. "What am I for, Master?"

He patted her head which made her smile wide.

"Let's find out." Now that his aura and blood were part of the cylinder, he could examine more functions. He found an interesting one that made him smile wide.

He showed her what he could do and that she could help him. She was happy and he realized that while she looked like a teenager, she was very much still a child.

"Haro, is there anything I should be careful of?" He had created spirit tools, weapons, and armor but he had intended to do so. Those spirits, while his children in a way, were happy to grow with their users.

Haro shrugged his shoulders.

"Much like people, naturally born spirits will mature in their own time. Unlike you, however, they are defined by their form. In a way, Master, you will form what she will become." No pressure then! He was glad he was an experienced father!

"Is it safe for me to name her or should she find one on her own?" Haro smiled and pointed at himself.

"I was named by my first Master. He let me take a similar form to him. He was a powerful True Lord and none could compare to him in his generation." Lind smiled as he was glad to learn of that and curious about that predecessor.

"Do you have a name you want?" He wanted to respect her wishes as much as possible as she had a long life ahead of her. She sat down and seemed to be distracted by the feel of the leather before she looked a little lost.

"I don't know. I want a name! I want Master to name me!" He looked at Haro and he just shrugged. He thought he might give her a name related to the Inheritance or her function but that felt wrong.

She was a newborn spirit. She simply deserved a name.

"Abby. Are you ok with Abby?" She tilted her head before a smile crossed her face. She seemed to mature slightly and then jumped into his arms.

"Abby greets Master!" He hugged her back. The cylinder also lit up briefly but he accepted it was simply part of her accepting a name.

"Will you help me with the next part, Abby?" She nodded enthusiastically before certain symbols glowed on the cylinder. Once that was done, he pushed each one she indicated in sequence.

A pillar of pure Divine Qi reached across the entirety of the Endless Peaks. All powers trembled until a familiar figure appeared in that terrifying storm of Qi.

[This is Lind Frey. The Inheritance of Death control spirit has given me proof of control. I now am in possession of a key to reveal the conditions for entry of the 100 slots open.] A projection was then sent in all directions multiple times and the DIvine Qi made it impossible to ignore.

With that, some schemes shattered but new ones were born. Lind Frey was now in possession of an artifact many would covet. The conditions of the Inheritance were nice to confirm but controlling those slots would bring benefits beyond imagining!

As if he could read their mind, his voice continued.

[A place shall be created to test candidates. Those that pass will then be allowed to face the barrier to improve their Laws. There will be no charge for this. The Inheritance is not mine to dictate. I am simply its neighbor. No more needless deaths. Come to find your opportunity and the Frey Clan will welcome you to our markets while you wait to test yourselves!]

The Qi vanished but shocked expressions abounded from foe and ally alike! The Frey Clan would prevent no one from attempting but those that went would need to stay somewhere and need resources to survive the storms.

The Frost Heart Sect would also benefit since they were no longer under pressure from those that suspected them of being in a conspiracy with the Frey Clan.

Some schemes fell apart but others saw an opportunity. A chance to freely enter the Frey Clan at last and gather crucial intelligence! The greed was in their eyes as new plans were made!
