Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1295 - 1294 - Headaches

Chapter 1295 - 1294 - Headaches

Lind had been right and wrong.

He was right that he was not the only one to detect the emergence of the new Inheritance. He had been sorely wrong in the response of the wider world.

The Icy Path was generally only considered a good source of ores or studying the Laws of the storms there. The beasts were useful too but ultimately, beasts could be found anywhere with any elemental alignment.

There were also far less dangerous hunting grounds too.

An Inheritance, however, made all risks seem like nothing in front of Immortals! The chance at special resources, pills, elixirs, artifacts, and all manner of treasure would await them.

The word tsunami did not quite cover the flood of Immortals making their way to the Icy Path.

The Frost Heart Sect could not stop them and the newly opened space seemed like a direct path until every artifact, ship, and individual slammed into some kind of barrier. They could not enter there!

It made teleportation arrays burn Qi stones like they were candy!

Many died thinking they could outlast the storms on their way to the Inheritance but then the Frey Clan made a surprise announcement!

There was a spirit running the Inheritance and it had offered 100 slots with a strict requirement. They had to either already be aligned with or comprehend the 3 Laws of Death, Nihility, and Oblivion.

Many, those jealous or greedy of the Frey Clan, ignored the warning and finally got to the barrier again. Only they learned the harsh danger from ignoring the Frey Clan's words.

Those that survived came back with severe Qi deviation from seeing people reduced to nothing right in front of them. The spirit said not a word until one person survived a little longer.

[Too weak.]

Those 2 words haunted them as the person was ripped apart into nothing! It was not painless, clearly, but the greater issue was the total lack of souls! Not a single Immortal soul survived!

Lind was listening to the reports and massaging his temples.

"Imbeciles! Fools! Do they think I am so power hungry I tried to scare them off with such a ridiculous sounding requirement?!" He made the poor young man jump but he sighed and waved him off.

Left alone in his office, he just wanted a moment of peace but Cyntilla came in looking like she was ready to carve up the next person to say the wrong word. She was gripping her sword hilts so hard he swore the metal deformed.

"Ungrateful bastards!" Her leg slammed into his low table in front of the fireplace. It was fairly sturdy but he definitely heard a crack when she did that. He quickly confirmed it was not her leg so that left only the table.

"I take it the Frost Heart Sect has given in?" She had been supposed to meet an envoy today and her virulent green eyes locked him in place for a moment before she sighed.

"They are unable to resist the supreme powers, plus even the Sovereign Tiers have sent orders to explore the Inheritance because it is a Divine Realm one. Everyone wants a piece of it and they just left us out to hang!" He had expected it but it was hardly surprising at all given the circumstances.

An Immortal Inheritance, depending on the determined tier, could be monopolized by the closest power or calmly negotiated with nearby powers to share access. Immortal Inheritances in the Celestial Fields were actually fairly common but the quality was vast.

So only Radiant or Sovereign Tier Inheritances could make most move, but unless there was a pressing reason, most Immortals waited until it was the end of their journey or death came for them in the Celestial Fields before making an Inheritance.

The one he made all the way back in the Heaven Realm lands seemed so limited to him now but that was simply a change in his perspective.

"So we have to deal with the flood of idiots?" She nodded but then a new set of footsteps drew their eyes. It was Qing who actually seemed ready to break someone in half!

Her blonde hair seemed to become fire as her stare made both Cyntilla and Lind flinch.

"Lind, is it all right if I kill some stubborn idiots just to make examples of them!" The pair stared at her in shock.

Qing? Killing people to make examples? What was going on?

"I thought you were helping those that survived–" She then kicked his table too and it split into pieces! Cyntilla had not used her full strength but Qing did!

"Useless idiots, the lot of them! They almost turned into nothing and think that we laid some kind of trap to monopolize the Inheritance!" That was a more serious accusation that could cause more issues but it was easily disprovable.

The quality of that barrier with no obvious flags or eyes made it clear they had not made it.

The fact it could overcome the storm when Lind had not been able to do that at all should speak volumes as well but people will believe what they want.

"I take it someone troublesome is supporting that idea?" She nodded before slamming a token on his desk. The desk was stronger but he worried the force she used might trigger the weavings.

The token was a hexagon with 2 symbols. One side was clearly a rank he would equate to inner or core disciple based on the quality. The other side was the problem. It was a crow.

"Damn." The Silver Crow Sect was a high power but it had connections to supreme powers. Further, they were known to be very arrogant bastards too.

The supreme powers in question were the more troubling aspect. They opposed his Clan.

They were not enemies but they generally disliked newcomers regardless of origin. One was the Bloodstone Guild. It was a pill and elixir based guild that only dealt with those it chose to.

Their work was excellent and thus highly sought out. It was rumored they disliked the non-intervention of the Sovereign Tiers. They wanted to exert their own Sovereign Tiers' influence over him but that avenue was closed off.

The other one was a name he had not known would return. The Swordbreaker Sect. It was a vastly different animal compared to the paltry sect established in his old home of the Floating Isles. It was also far older, obviously.

Its members were not as vindictive against the Divine Sword Sect like before too. They were more about exerting dominance through combat than anything else. If they could not fight it into submission, it just meant they had overpower it even more.

Between the 2, the latter would cause more headaches directly while the former would take a more bureaucratic route.

"It just had to be them. We will address it. I doubt it is the last we have heard from them." He placated both of his wives but truly, things were just getting worse rather than better.

The incident with Annabelle had actually calmed things down but now the Inheritance poured gasoline on it and a lit match to boot!

He looked up and tried to peer into the spirit world.

"You are all laughing at me, aren't you?" He would like to think so. One could not and it wiped the grin from his own face when he recalled that.

He pushed past that memory and was about to leave his office when a new set of footsteps reached him. His eyes narrowed as he did not recognize them.

There was also something odd. He could hear steps but there was no sense of aura nor any other indication of a cultivator.

There was no fluctuation to hide by stealth either. What was going on?

A man turned the corner but he was wrong. His eyes were blank with his head at a tilt. The robes were shredded to pieces but the flesh underneath was intact.

The figure moved onward into his office without pause but Lind was confused.

How did such a thing get inside in the first place? Why had no one alerted him or tried to stop it? Why were the weavings not work–

He shot upright as a thought came to him.

"Senior spirit?" The figure finally stopped and a lopsided grin crossed its face. It was damn spooky to look at.

[Surprised you can see me. You must have died at least once. No wonder your body felt weird to me. I have monitored the situation and am tired of watching potential inheritors waste their lives. Take this.] A cylinder was dropped onto the floor.

Before he could ask for more, the figure began to fade into nothing!

[Ah, barely made it. That damn storm put this doll through the wringer. Use that and most of the problems should stop.] He looked around before the weird smirk appeared on the fading face. [Folded space, huh? Not bad. A special realm is more stable but harder to hide. Get me candidates, soon.]

The figure then turned to nothing and vanished. It was only at the very end he felt the faint connection to the spirit.

"Just what kind of crazy bastard made a spirit like that?" Lind had more questions but he had not expected an answer.

[Dao Master Muerte is the most likely source of that Inheritance. The spirit is similar to him. He is a very old Divine Realm cultivator. If he has died, it was likely from natural causes.] Haro suddenly volunteered information he never had before!

Also, natural causes? What kills Divine Realm cultivators naturally? Haro gave no answer but it added to the mystery of the next realm. He filed it away as he began to study the cylinder left by the Inheritance spirit.
