Chapter 1256 - 1255 - Soul Scars
Chapter 1256 - 1255 - Soul Scars
Lind flew very far up into the golden sky. There was no end to it and the physical world would move in front of him at times but he stayed focused on his goal.
He would have been disorientated before with the ever shifting clouds and world never staying put but the wrinkle his Eyes could see stayed put. It meant the damage was fixed.
The fact he could only see it now meant it was not a physical thing but a spiritual thing. His Law Eyes were very near the limit. He knew they were touching on the next realm but even he dared not cross it yet.
The wraiths had been a harsh lesson that Dao was a massive step forward he was not yet ready for.
Finally, after what seemed for longer than it should be, he closed in on something that was both there and not there at the same time. The damage was across all spectrums of existence he could perceive and likely a few he could not.
"That bastard." Lind had never seen anything like it, not even close. Damaged souls were unique but it was more like a piece was missing than a scar like a body would have. The damage in front of him was definitely a scar.
He could float around it but he also felt like it was stronger than the rest of the spirit world. Based on his understanding, only 1 thing could feel stronger than the spirit world.
"Divine Realm." The damage was so fundamental it crossed into the Divine Realm. Heaven and Earth still ruled in the Divine Realm lands, and the cultivators could do as they pleased, but they could bend the rules far more than before.
It showed that Divine Realm cultivators were the true powerhouses of the cultivation world.
Just how terrifying was their power at full strength? He really wanted to know.
The scar was at least 5 kilometers tall and another 2 wide all around. It was not a singular shape but jagged and could sway far out in any direction. Unlike anything else in the spirit world, it was a solid shape.
It never moved or even seemed to acknowledge the Qi and Law flowing around it. He cast his Eyes around now that he knew what to look for.
It did not take long to find more such scars in the sky. Some were farther out but generally smaller while others were in a similar range and just as big. There was, however, 2 that stood out.
One was directly above the world and another below it. He used his own discretion to give them up and down but the only reason he saw the 2 massive scars was due to their aura, not the Qi interaction.
The elements and Laws could not seem to get close to them!
He flew up decisively to the upper scar but as he got closer, he felt the bone crushing aura he associated with Divine Realm cultivators!
It was far more oppressive than even the wraith he had fought!
He now knew how much Heaven and Earth protected lower realm cultivators from those monsters! They could conquer the Celestial Fields with a breath!
Lind focused on his harmony and the pressure lifted slightly. It showed his harmony was also touching on Dao but he knew that was not enough by itself. There was some other aspect to Divine Realm cultivators he knew nothing about.
Still, he could get closer and realized he could see actual wrinkling in the sky itself. The once smooth gold had a physical presence that was warped by the scar. Unlike the smaller ones that existed like a void of Qi and Laws, the larger ones were physical as well.
He also recognized the largest part of the aura but it made no sense to him. He quickly realized he was pushing himself to the limit so he let himself fall down only to realize he was not moving!
Gravity did not exist as a constant force but generally the world would pull him back as a place to rest. Yet now, he was stuck just floating in the air!
He quickly tried to understand what was happening but felt something shocking inside his soul. His harmony was getting stronger! He felt like something was resonating with it but he had no control of it!
His harmony was what kept him near the scar! Pain began to spread but he had no idea how that was possible. There was no body to feel pain and his soul had never once felt pain even as he had nearly consumed so early on in his stint in the spirit world.
It was only when he looked down that he was shocked to see something growing on his soul. It was physical! It was an emerald scale!
How?! How was that possible?!
Panic filled him as he realized the pain was his body! Or rather, pieces of his body forming uncontrollably! He strained his harmony and broke away.
The instant he fell away, the pain began to fade as his physical vestiges evaporated as if they never existed. He was then falling as he had gone beyond his limits.
A strong pair of arms caught him before he was halfway to the surface. The old woman was joined by the children as he slowly looked around.
"Wh–what was that?" He felt so tired but his soul was intact. Just what had happened to him?
For once, the spirits seemed as clueless as him. Even the core stayed silent which meant something unprecedented had occurred.
They took him down and he recovered as the elemental Qi flowed into him. His soul became stronger and he noticed he was halfway through the mid-Radiant Tier. He had exhausted all that progress in his previous experiments yet now he had leapt back to his peak.
He also felt like it was very solid in his foundation. It was like even the tiny shards of his crystal were more profound!
"How did you get so close to it?" The old woman had been watching over him but he noticed her fine white robes were actually shifting faster than normal. Did it indicate she was nervous?
A small emerald flame appeared but it was far more profound than anytime before. He felt a massive drain just to use it but shock flashed over her face. He dismissed it.
"I can't maintain it in that concentrated form but facing the Divine Wraith taught me a lot. It pushed my Talents and harmony to the limit of the Immortal Realm." She understood what he meant immediately but he was curious.
Why didn't she know already? They read his soul so why would they not know?
"Is Dao beyond you all?" She shook her head but then nodded too.
"Dao, itself, is a part of us, but the Dao forged by cultivators is new. New Dao has to be acknowledged by Heaven and Earth before it becomes a part of us." Lind was confused at those words.
Dao forged by cultivators? Didn't they just follow the previous–
He sat upright in shock as he understood! Laws did not exist in a vacuum. They were the foundation of reality and grasping them led to enlightenment and more power as they were incorporated into the crystal of an Immortal.
Yet, the Dao of Gravity was a broad field! It had no single answer but the one a cultivator applied to their own existence.
It meant that Dao was more personal than he had realized! The 6 elementals are not as unique as he thought! His thoughts came to a screeching halt as a storm of Qi washed towards him.
Celestial, demonic, and natural elements became visible as streams flowed into him and he saw something on his soul he had not realized were there.
Scars. Scars that had been resisting his recovery and healing for who knew how long. He also felt shocked as the sensation of Qi flowing over them was just as he had felt in the golden sky.
Soul scars did exist! They were the scars in the sky!
The resonance was with the scar itself! He understood what was happening because he had seen it before!
A flash of 2 tubes from which emerged Kora and Tal just as he had remembered them. Their memories were intact and it was all possible because the Divine Realm mind was able to recreate reality so perfectly that an era of the dead could be resurrected in an Inheritance!
It was an answer to something he had wondered. Was it just a skill of Divine Realms or something more fundamental to their lands? Now, he had the answer.
Just exposure to the Divine Realm aura had allowed parts of his body to randomly appear! He had not been able to check but he highly suspected the quality was not consistent at all.
Yet, hope bloomed! He had a way to get his body back! He did not have the power to control the process but he could study the scars and see if they could be controlled. He began to laugh as he had been about to give up but an unexpected answer came to him.
Now he just had to understand but he froze as his foundation suddenly skyrocketed. His soul sailed past the peak of mid Radiant Tier and reached high Radiant Tier before it finally slowed down halfway to the peak.
He suddenly realized a serious issue with his plan. If he used the scars to recreate his body, it was entirely possible he would be pushed into the storm of tribulations and the final Immortal tribulation as well!
How would he deal with that?! He was not ready! He grasped his head but began to make a list of all the weavings he would need. He had to experiment and learn what he could before making an attempt.
A smile crossed his face as he realized his enemy had left a way out for him. The Great One had created his own doom! He would be sure to pass it along when the time came!
