Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1248 - 1247 - Conservation of Matter and Energy

Chapter 1248 - 1247 - Conservation of Matter and Energy

Lind was surrounded by a complex structure. It shimmered with elemental light as traces with profound auras tightened around sigils in layers that would have shocked even peak Law Grade masters.

It was a work of art! It made several geometric shapes slowly merge into more complex shapes. He essentially created a model form of a world and held it steady within the weavings.

It was an accomplishment that was flat out impossible in the cultivation world but in the spirit world, it was like the Laws happily bent to his will!

He had never found it so easy but he was also supremely exhausted! Lind was faint and clearly at his limit as his arms weakly fell to his side. There was also a look of supreme frustration on his face.

"I can't violate basic physics." It was a simple truth but one he tended to forget as a cultivator.

Cultivation unlocked mystical abilities but they really weren't.

A scientist would be the first person to deny science had all the answers as not everything had been studied to the smallest detail possible yet. Minutiae to macro discoveries were always being made.

Science could leap forward at any time and change all the rules once thought immutable but a very basic theory had held even as he advanced to the Immortal Realm.

Energy and matter can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted. Cultivators seemed to break that rule but they didn't. Even Celestials and Fiends were unable to break that rule.

Qi existed in all things and thus conjuring, manifesting, or even transformation was possible at any time so long as density, quality, and comprehension allowed it. The spirit world seemed to be beyond such a rule but he had confirmed it was not at all.

His weavings did touch on aspects of reality his old world never fully proved but they did not let him bypass that most bedrock principle.

In other words, he was stuck.

He could use the matter in the spirit world but the instant he let it go or lost concentration, it reverted to its chaotic state. He could not impose order to the point of any permanence.

Further, he could not simply take away things either. He had to personally figure out what to make with what material and despite the various landscapes and energies constantly shifting around him, no biological bodies appeared save right before manifestation.

Even that, he had come to learn, was tiny bits of mass from the silver clouds so it did not break the rules. The constant ebb and flow of entering and leaving the spirit world meant there was no real loss there.

Yet, the instant he tried to convert and control things, he met immense resistance not only from the nature of the spirit world but the limits of physics!

Diamonds were not simply a direct conversion from other carbon materials. It was a high density material compared to many of the more fragile cousins. Thus, if he wanted a diamond, a massive amount of other carbon had to be consumed to make one.

It was an over simplistic comparison but it outlined his problem.

A cultivator did not simply gather Qi and fill their dantian to breakthrough. The body had to be refined by the process as well. The improved Qi would permeate all flesh and at times required a massive push.

Tribulations were not just Heaven and Earth's judgment but the way cultivators made massive leaps forward physically. Progress was never free but the risk brought great rewards.

Swords that could once slice so easily through flesh were useless unless of commensurate strength. Disease and other ailments fell away as the body was far too strong for them.

An Immortal body had faced many harsh and terrifying tribulations but was conversely that much more powerful than a mortal body. Based on his experiments in weaving, Lind was screwed.

His body had been refined in more ways than one. He had incorporated all 18 elements into it and pushed it to match his insane power on his dantian side of things.

It had been immensely difficult and dangerous, but ultimately worth it for the results. Further, he had a dragon body, not a human body. It had the strength and defense of a dragon even in human form.

His massive dragon body was nothing to scoff at but it was relatively normal for most dragons in the Radiant Tier.

Still, its strength was much higher than dragons of his size.

It all came back to quality. If the spirit world was the breadth of all materials possible in quantity, it sorely lacked in quality.

Lind had figured out that to make even 1/10th of his physical body would consume the entirety of the spirit world!

Just how absurd was his body?!

He had hoped he was wrong but he had progressed to even make a pseudo-Immortal creation that his body would be equal to at the Heaven Realm and it had exhausted nearly all his strength and nearly ¾ of the world!

The Yin and Yang core was able to be felt partially due to his experiment!

He released the weavings slowly and the chaotic matter returned to its origin.

"Failure." He had learned he could make an older version of his body but not one that could survive his current soul. It would just blow up!

He also had studied the various techniques he knew of to make an artificial body but the incompatibility with his harmony made them all garbage. He felt a deep regret for not investigating an issue many Immortals faced.

Some did not die of old age and endure beyond as a soul. Some were like him and died in battle but the soul survived. Other 6 elementals would face this issue!

It had been a long time since he encountered the age-old stigma of a total lack of support for his variation of cultivator.

It brought back some nostalgia but reminded him had become complacent since becoming a Heaven Realm. Since they needed all 6 elements, he had simply adapted their Arts to his own needs. It was clear that was an oversight that needed correcting.

Their own Storm Arts series were technically usable by other Heaven Realms and above but the lack of a harmony lost a lot of the potency 6 elementals could produce. It meant there was something still overlooked by him and others.

Now, he was confronted with the likely issue.

The body tolerance limit. All Arts and conjurings pushed not just the meridians and dantian, but the body as well. If the body could not withstand the strain, the Art was not usable. Equally, the power that an Art could put out was partially resonated with the body as well.

The 6 elementals' harmonies made their bodies different on a fundamental level. A warlike red harmony could produce martial power in excess of what a healing orientated blue harmony was capable of.

It was not direct, but a trend he had noted. If a harmony was inclined to battle, like Kexin, their combat power in the Storm Arts was second to none. Those focused in other areas could still use those Arts to devastating effects but not as efficiently as the former.

Now, the creation of a new body for an Immortal loomed over him and he wondered if any of the other 6 elementals had faced this trial.

They likely had given the wars and battles but it was also possible the lower requirements compared to him allowed them to adapt the techniques he knew. It would make a body out of sync and thus their ability to advance would end, but they would still have a physical existence.

Lind pushed it all aside as he faced the fundamental problem he had to deal with. Even if he had a perfect, tailor made method to create a body, he did not have enough material to work with!

Bedrock physics was his impassable wall and he had no way to overcome it in the spirit world! Further, it would not work in the cultivation world as his weaving would be insanely less efficient there. Even if he got help, he somehow doubted rival powers would be happy with his return.

A living Lind Frey was a potential rival, Fiend defense, or ally, but a soul was vulnerable. His wealth of knowledge could be far more easily extracted in his current state. Further, the Fiends would come after him in a frenzy!

The chance to refine such an enemy when he had no strength to fight back would make the Great One extremely pleased.

He half wondered if the 2 women from the Divine Realm could help him but he doubted Heaven and Earth was that lenient. Despite the spirit world having access to all realms at once, Lind was restricted to the Immortal Realm.

He had no proof, but life was not that kind to him to make him think he could have his cake and eat it too just because he was stuck!

"Is there no way to make a body for me ever?" A forlorn though escaped him but a tug near his leg made him look down. The little girl smiled up as she held up cards. He sighed as he smiled.

He patted her head and they began to play. She distracted him and likely knew of his frustration. He did not forget that the being in front of him was far older than anything he could conceive of.

Trillions of years were nothing to the spirits.

"You are not focusing on the game!" Her voice pulled him out of his thoughts as he indeed noticed he was not doing well. She was wiping the floor with him!

"Sorry. Just had a large setback. I guess I am not able to get my body back by any method I know." It was humbling to learn but he would have to think of a new way to make a body.

The girl tilted her head and he thought she was about to simply say "Make a body." like it was nothing.

"Why would you make something that has to be born?" Instead she asked a question that thundered in his head. It was like all his thoughts refused to advance until that question could be soaked in.

Born? No technique birthed a body unless it involved reincarnation. That was not a direct intention of the cultivator, simply a fact of life. The soul was sent through the cycle of Samsara but with its memories intact. It was more of a spiritual technique than a creation one, but that was not available to Lind either.

He had no time to live another life! There was no point if he could not rejoin his loved ones in the shortest time possible but that was not what froze his mind. All things were possible in the spirit world but he had made one mistake.

Manifestation was the term cultivators gave to aether children and the beasts that appeared like them. It was, however, not the truth. They were being born!
