Chapter 1239 - 1238 - Power of Heaven and Earth
Chapter 1239 - 1238 - Power of Heaven and Earth
Lind felt time slow down. The Fiend's hands were only an arm's length away from Lina. The fear on her face was so clear as the golden eyes understood what was about to happen.
His mother's dark green eyes looked fierce as she had a pill in her hand. It was not one he infused with his harmony but a dark violet with crimson veins along it.
It was a demonic poison pill! It looked vibrant so it was likely a grade 7 Dark Lotus Poison Pill. It would sear blood in the body until it made a pattern on the skin like a blooming lotus.
It was a horrific way to die and worse, it was not one that had to be swallowed to work. Skin absorption was enough! The crimson veins were like a binding that once infused with any Qi would burst like a cloud.
Lina and his Mother would die with the Fiend. Even a Sovereign Tier would not survive if exposed. It was still death but far preferred to the soul being turned into a cultivation resource.
It would only stymy the Fiend if he was caught off guard, however, so Lind doubted anyone but his mother would die by it. It was like them to be that perverse.
Tessa and Kexin were too far away to help but he also noted they could not. Everyone was locked down by a single being and the Void of Heaven prevented it from seeing what should not be there.
He pushed his mind to the limit but no answers came. He was totally depleted and had nothing left to give. He could only move–
Why could he move? His harmony was there true, but so were Kexin and Tessa's. So why was he able to move and they could not?
He had no Qi or Laws to explain it but then the words of the Fiend came back.
He had touched on Dao! Dao was superior to Laws! It was superior to the Fiend!
Hope bloomed but then died as he realized that only in his peak condition did he have any hope of winning let alone fighting. He had banished the Divine Wraith but that was using the rules of Heaven and Earth.
That would not work in the current situation. Time slowly marched forward and despair began to grip his heart.
[One more thing remains, but you cannot solve it here.] Words suddenly floated through his mind that reminded him of his confrontation with his past versions. He felt hope bloom again as he understood.
He had reintegrated his human and dragon selves. All that remained was the final piece that had been sacrificed to keep him alive during his last tribulation. It was Haro's choice but it also made him rethink why he could move.
It was not the Dao. He may have pushed his harmony to that level or close to it but it was not empowering him at the moment. It was as drained as the rest of him. There was one thing left.
He realized the Fiend did not know! It had no idea he still had a tenuous connection or it would have killed him immediately!
It had studied him for the last 1300 years and confirmed he had no more authority. The loss of his ring also revealed that. The Fiends knew what to look for! Their penchant for torturing their victims had given him a chance.
He closed his eyes to the rest of the world. He had no choice but to look within.
His crystal was dim but steady. His meridians were totally empty as no Qi flowed into him. Laws were still there but the power to use them was missing. He had not felt so powerless before in his life but he was looking at the flickering emerald flame at the heart of his dantian.
He stood before it and felt tiny. He felt like he was being somewhat foolish to assume this could work but he had no choice.
"The Fiend is there, in defiance of the order of Heaven and Earth. They are already vile creatures that have weakened the rules of the lower realms. I am unworthy, as has been clearly evident, but what I ask is not to be redeemed." It was arrogant to believe he could be restored. There was, however, something he thought to try.
"Use me. Use me to be your eyes. Use me to be your senses. Let me help you to disperse the fog he has pulled over your rules! I will pay the price as always." He would lose vitality, a lot of it to defy a Sovereign Tier, but he was very young as Immortals went, let alone dragons.
A few thousand years was nothing!
A rumble came from the flames as a pair of familiar eyes appeared.
[You will forfeit your right to reclaim your place. Are you certain of this action?] Lind smiled as he saw the danger he had just closed off with his eyes.
"I never sought it in the first place and I abused it as time went on. I then took it for granted at the end. I spurned it until it was finally removed and now I regret it. I regret my foolishness for not understanding what was asked of me and others. Thus, I must pay the price for my arrogance." He looked unflinchingly at the version of himself that was once the True Lord.
An approving nod came from the flames.
[Good that you know. This will be painful, to say the least. To overcome a superior Immortal Fiend and his Void of Heaven will tax you. At your peak there is no issue but now, you will likely be crippled. You could even die.]
Lind knew that. He knew it and accepted it. He also knew that for once, no last minute save was coming. The Void of Heaven prevented it.
He truly would end his cultivation path but it did not matter.
"Let's shatter the chains forever!" The phrase could have applied to several things but the eyes glowed.
[It has been an honor, Lind Frey.] The flames suddenly increased massively and pain spread like lightning through his body. Every cell in his body felt like it was dying at the same time!
Blood poured from his orifices until he slowly realized a sound he was hearing was his own scream. The Fiend whipped its head at him in horror.
"NO! That is not poss–" Power suddenly ripped the sky open to deep blue. Heaven and Earth flooded into the Void of Heaven and it was angry!
It connected to Lind instantly and his eyes suddenly held all 18 elements. He felt like he knew how to truly use their power compared to his limited reach before. He had incorporated and fused them but he saw it as child's play compared to what it could do.
{You have violated the rules, vile creature. Even you cannot be spared!} The Fiend sneered as it understood Lind was burning his life to do what he was.
"Your champion was already depleted. You will kill him if this keeps up and your grand design will crumble. Are you sure you have time to fight little old me?" His words shocked those nearby but Lind smiled.
{Accepted.} The Fiend was confused until Lind vanished and his fist slammed into his stomach! A physical hit should hardly bother him but pain radiated outward as 3 different sets of elements fused into the emerald harmony.
Even just physical contact was enough to hurt the Fiend!
Before he had to conjure, infuse, or in some way apply it externally but that was no longer needed.
"You da–" Another punch knocked the teeth right out of his face! Lind Frey could not be traced or stopped! He was a God!
Kicks, punches, and very simple attacks were destroying the Fiend like he was just a child facing an adult! Was that the same Lind Frey?
The Fiend had his left arm twisted right off followed by the shattering of right leg. His ribs were atomized by just a handful of punches. Vile black blood sizzled as the Void of Heaven was dispersed.
The cultivators recovered quickly and slowly gathered to watch in awe as Lind decimated the Fiend.
The once impossibly gorgeous being was a pile of bloody flesh. His healing was not working! Why?
{You talk too much. This ends now.} Lind finally stopped but his condition was almost worse than the Fiend. His body was pale as he was covered in his own blood. His features looked more mature which for a dragon took millions of years!
The price he was paying was clear!
Lind then extended his hand upward but a voice called out.
"LIND STOP! THAT IS ENOUGH, PLEASE STOP!" Mira was crying as Tessa held her back. Kexin looked on with a fist to her heart as tears fell from her smoky eyes. Kal in his full transformation was kneeling in deep respect.
The other demons and cultivators suddenly grasped what was happening. At the cost of his vitality, the Emerald Immortal was saving them all!
{The choice was made and freely given, Mother of Lind Frey. Respect his choice and know always, he loves you for all time. Convey his apologies to the others. There was no other way to save you all.} Regret filled the voice but Lind did not stop.
Further shock filled them as they understood even more. It was not just Lind before them. He had become an avatar of Heaven and Earth.
Pressure built above as the sky was rent asunder. The 4th layer was exposed!
"Y–you c–coward. Y–y–you won't even kill me yourself?" The Fiend stumbled over speaking but Lind paid him no head as a rumble came. It was terrifying as black clouds gathered inside the tear only.
Lind looked down as horror came across the Fiend.
{There are fates worse than death, vile one.} Pure white lightning smashed into the Fiend and into something in the island that finally dispersed the Void of Heaven entirely. It was not just the Fiend though, that was struck.
Lind also bathed in the lightning. Where the Fiend screamed his last as he was vaporized, Lind smiled upwards before he looked at his mother.
The strange pressure vanished from his gaze as he collapsed and smiled.
"Sor–" He could not even finish his words as his body seemed to fall apart before their eyes. A scream so full of despair shook the world as Mira collapsed in Tessa's arms. The 3 demons and Lina were weeping but they were not alone.
The entire crowd suddenly knelt in deep respect to where he had been. The bright azure sky should have been a welcome celebration but only the mournful aura filled the Sanctuary Sect.
No one would ever forget the Emerald Immortal, Lind Frey. He had defeated the Fiends and freed the Celestial Fields! Many swore vengeance in his name that day. Many would be inspired by him.
The new age was born that day not just in the 3rd layer but the Celestial Fields as a whole. It was aptly named Emerald Dragon Age.
