Chapter 1220 - 1219 - Confrontation
Chapter 1220 - 1219 - Confrontation
Winged monsters were diving at the demons. They were bleeding and exhausted. Their formations had run out of Qi stones a long time ago but death was not claiming them that day.
The blue sky was transformed to an emerald sea of flames!
A massive dragon slashed with his tail and fine filaments of his mane launched in a myriad of directions to cover the demons as they retreated.
[The north side is safe, head there!] The Emerald Immortal's command was happily accepted as the raging ice storm beneath suddenly bulged. A massive roar combined with the howling wind as the storm was clearly controlled by the dragon!
None of them even knew that was possible!
Lind strained as his body felt like lead. He had been fighting for days as a horde had finally come to the Icy Path. The remote peaks were not considered a necessary investment since its natural barrier repelled the horde.
The soulless were ripped apart or dropped in pieces. The instant that happened, the surviving members dove after them. The numbers had reached the threshold it seemed.
His emerald eyes glinted in malice.
[NOW!] Radiant Tier demons suddenly appeared as they tore through space. As expected, the base instinct of the horde overrode their new commands!
They swiveled to attack only to be met with more emerald flames and fresh Immortal demons.
The lavender skinned demons roared in joy as they decimated the surviving creatures. A horde was entirely wiped out!
Lind transformed back and barely hid how exhausted he was. His pale face was missed as the demons got to work hunting down the falling pieces or bodies. He quickly wanted to head back.
He could tell he only had half a day left at best before he collapsed.
About 6 months ago he had his worst attack yet and barely got back to the cave before he froze his body to death. His soul might have survived but his instincts screamed at him that was not the case.
Whatever ailed him would claim his soul as well. He thought that would finally lead him to the source but all his senses said his soul was fine. What was wrong with him?
[Lord Emerald Immortal, thank you for your efforts.] A slim demon waved at him and Lind merely nodded. He turned to go but then the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.
He quickly scanned the area but no soulless were left. He wondered if a Fiend had finally come but his harmony did not even flicker once.
Yet, the feeling of danger was clear as day to him. He knew danger was coming right at him. He closed his eyes and let his hands transform back into claws.
The wind was now gentle and he had released his surface hold of the storm. He had to borrow that power since his own was nearly depleted before.
Silence was all around him aside from the sounds of disposal. Even that was fading but he then blurred before appearing a meter to the right of his original position. It was as far as he could go in his current state but it was enough.
A set of daggers sliced where he had just been! He also found the figure damned familiar!
"Kexin?!" A name felt foreign to him after so long. Evie was the only person he had called by name for over 1300 years. Even when he saw Oz, they merely talked about old times and never used their names.
Even his title was ignored as Oz just said he was glad to see him at the end. They spoke of his child who was of course a handful and still in the 2nd layer.
They ruled an empire, it seemed.
Lind pushed aside his thoughts as the lithe figure glared at him with her smoky obsidian eyes. The normal spark of joy was not there. He felt danger!
Lind whipped his left hand up to catch a glaive as it nearly took his head off from behind. Virulent green eyes and hair greeted him of the first being he made into a 6 elemental, Tessa!
Words were not spoken as the pair pushed him and he knew he would lose! Despite being at the peak of low Radiant Tier himself, they were overpowering him with ease while they were still clearly at the beginning of the Radiant Tier as a whole.
His mind raced to try and figure out why they were attacking him. Did they think he was possessed? Easy enough to resolve.
"Both of you, calm down, I am not–" A sudden premonition made him cease flying. Gravity took over as a barbed tail struck at where his head had been. Kal was there too?!
His normal smile and calm attitude was nowhere to be seen. He was also at the same level as Lind!
The Akashic Bloodline Physique was terrifying!
The demons finally noticed the battle but with a wave of Kal's hands they all were made to kneel in mid-air!
[None of you will interfere. This is our business alone.] Kal's voice was cold. Lind knew they were seriously fighting him but why? His aura was stable at the moment and his eyes should seem quite clear. His confusion had to be evident as well.
"What are–" Tessa suddenly vanished and Lind felt space shift. She had gotten better but not good enough to fool him. His tail appeared in time to slap her away. Surprise was finally on her face as he expected.
Kexin, however, struck just as he was distracted by the confirmation they too were in their right minds.
The daggers closed in and he simply stood there. He had time to analyze them and they were low grade 7. His scales would not give a damn.
The screech of metal was followed by her right hand dagger shattering. Anger scrunched up her beautiful face but she simply punched out at him. He caught it easily and was about to ask questions when a familiar tail ensnared his neck!
He was sent fumbling as Kal followed after. Tessa and Kexin tore through space to pincer him.
They had improved! A flare of pride flashed in his eyes but he pushed it down. It was not the time!
He was burning Qi and stamina he could not spare.
Only 1 alternative remained. He had to go where they could not follow. Lind let go all of his flying skills aside from a push down.
He fell like a meteor towards the Icy Path.
The 3 demons quickly followed after but he only smirked at them.
"Not bad, you 3, but you still have a lot to learn." Lind then carved out a massive spatial rip above his head. The 3 were tossed out into the air with no control at all! Shock covered all 3 as he dove into the clouds.
The icy wind actually helped clear his mind but he did not stop. Of the 3, Kal could still follow him! His bloodline would give him more leeway until the storm reached its peak where only Lind could stand.
His body slammed into a peak at speed and shattered the snow pak. An avalanche was unleashed but thankfully it was near the edge. It tumbled down into the abyss before likely reaching the lower barrier.
He was never sure if it would stop things like that but he assumed so as mysterious natural events were never recorded in the 2nd layer.
He quickly pushed off the peak only to have another body slam into the same peak right behind him. Kal's frost lined wings were shaking but his main body was hardly slowed down.
[You are not escaping me!] Dragon and demon raced into the Icy Path but Lind sneered at Kal. He severely underestimated the power of the peaks.
[You would be wise to give up in 3 breaths or you will never leave this place alive, Kal. I swear it is the truth.] There was no rumble of the Heavens as it was not an Oath but his voice was steady and he was really telling the truth.
The storm strength was increasing rapidly. Kal did not have much time. In the same vein, Lind was running on fumes too. He had to get to a cave or he would be in just as much trouble.
Kal seemed to understand as his wings flapped harshly, shattering the ice on them as he shot upward. His speed was more than enough to escape to the warmth of the open skies.
Lind did not slow down as he leapt along the narrow paths until his back up cavern came into his aura range. It was dark and the defenses were working thankfully.
He dashed inside as sheets of ice came down. He nearly collapsed before activating the flame weaving and defenses.
The sigils glowed with power as he finally had time to rest. Kal might have placed a marker on him but he was too tapped out to check. Further, the storm was going to rage at its peak for a month at least.
It would give him the time–
He felt it before it was visible but the space was torn open in front of his shocked eyes! It was impossible! No one could enter his defenses, not even the fox woman that followed him currently without his express permission.
His own children could not get in so how had someone bypassed his defenses?!
A step was heard and his soul shivered. A Fiend?! Had the Sovereign Tier actually found him already?! They certainly could bypass his defenses but wouldn't Heaven and Earth send them packing to the 4th layer?!
A crimson robed figure emerged from the tear. The spatial rip snapped shut but the figure before him was impossible. She was not supposed to be able to become a Radiant Tier but he felt it coming from her aura!
Her dark eyes, normally full of love, were looking at him coldly and her dark hair seemed to frame her face like a deity came to punish a criminal.
"Hello, Lind. You better explain yourself when you wake up." Wake up, but he was?!
A fist slammed into his cheek and darkness closed in. The last thought he had was his mother had just full on hit him!
