Chapter 1211 - 1210 - Spiritwalker
Chapter 1211 - 1210 - Spiritwalker
Lina shivered as she felt the pressure of Lind. She wanted to cry but held it in as she slowly looked up.
"W–when the Ancestor touched my soul and mind, it awoke a Talent in me. I am a Spiritwalker." He looked confused at her but she struggled to explain it. She barely understood it as she woke up with the knowledge in her mind.
"There is no such Talent in any record I have ever seen." She nodded as she pointed at how she now had 2 tails.
"It is not something we share with humans or other races but the ancestor told me to tell you. She said it was important you understand I can't control it. I–I can see the truth." A look flashed over his face before he frowned.
The room grew warmer again as he began to work on the weapons. She watched quietly as she understood he was thinking.
As time passed, demons arrived with storage bracelets with items she knew were a grade higher than her own artifacts.
She watched as they became fluid under his control. It was awe inspiring and she slowly forgot her fear. In that moment, the pain and suffering coming off Lind in waves was gone.
In his current state, he was like a God of Creation. There was no pain in his heart but she could see it far more clearly than before. There were black lines on his soul.
They were not like the Fiend Qi she had seen in the thralls. She had spoken with others of her race and while all foxes were sensitive to spiritual distortions, she knew long ago she could see far more than others.
She also saw faint lines trying to connect to him that scared her. They were terrifying to even catch for a moment, yet so many of them were around him!
She had never seen them before she woke up today, yet instinctively she knew what they were.
Threads of Fate.
Fate was trying to do something to Lind Frey and he was severing them as soon as they tried to connect. She also saw faint images if she squeezed her eyes closed.
A gorgeous woman with azure hair smiled at him but Lina knew she was dead. She also saw men and women that shared features with Lind. It told her they were family but she was unsure if they were older or younger.
She also saw 3 faces that were all older than him in her heart. He cherished them and they were special but great sadness was attached to them. She saw so much death but also so much joy.
Why was a man that survived so much and helped so many hurt to his very soul?
"Stop looking at whatever you are seeing. I can feel it." His voice snapped her out of it. She saw he was looking down at her but not in anger. His voice was calm and he seemed troubled.
"I am sorry!" She bowed low again but he picked her up and set her on a wooden stool in the corner. He then knelt down to look at her at eye level.
"You can see the truth, but are you forced to speak it?" She shook her head. A look of relief passed over him. "I will not ask you to lie if it will save your life. I would ask you to tell no one my name unless absolutely necessary." She swiftly nodded as she understood but then slowly screwed up her courage to ask the question that plagued her.
"What happened?" Lind looked at her sternly before his hands lit up with emerald light. Golden sigils quickly appeared and she felt the outside world fall away.
"I answer this question because we have karma due to what has happened to you. After this, there is nothing between us." Pain. More pain came off of him at those words. He was hurting himself!
She whimpered and slowly nodded as she knew not to push her luck.
She then listened. He shortened it as it only took a day but it made sense out of all she saw. She then pondered as he spoke of how he became a Radiant Tier and his recent revelation from his spirit tool.
She was happy the tool was still alive but sad they were separated.
She narrowed her eyes and saw a very faint thread she recognized as the spirit from the ring.
"He is still part of you." He smirked at that as he touched his right hand. A single tear fell from his eyes before he became distant again.
"Thank you for that. Now, you should go." He was about to separate the ward when she grasped his robes. He looked more stern but she swallowed before she spoke.
"I want to help. I am not able to be tied by Fate! Spirtiwalkers have to be outside of it to see what we do." He became less stern but looked doubtful. She was about to swear an Oath but he stopped her.
"Why?" She looked up at him confused. Did he not understand?
"You are hurting. I want to help." A flash of an emotion she did not understand went through his eyes. He shook his head.
"No. I need no one that cannot make me stronger." She frowned. How could healing him not make him stronger? She knew he had no heart demon. She instinctively knew it.
It was all him so why was he ignoring the damage to his soul?
"But–" The ward was shattered and the door slammed open. She jumped but knew she had no reason to stay. She practically ran away but tears trailed down her face.
Why did he not understand the danger an Immortal would face if they kept acting in defiance of their soul?

Lind stood silently for a time after the girl left. He was not stupid. He could read her face easily since she was so young. She earnestly wanted to help him but despite her truthful words being free of Fate, that did not mean she was free from Heaven and Earth.
Still, her teary eyed face stuck with him.
"Clever bastard." His curse was towards above but a gentle heart cannot be held in suspicion just because he was leery of his enemies.
He was about to go back to work when it became very hard to breathe. The room tilted but quickly righted itself. He felt only a few moments had passed but why did it happen? His dantian was only half full and his body was in peak condition.
Nothing was wrong so why was his health getting worse?! He pushed it aside as he had too much to do.
He would need to take a break if they survived.
The resources brought to him not only allowed repairs but he created 50 more weapons. He also improved their endurance but the issue was what damaged them.
Even with the Celestial Qi, the wraith ability to absorb vital energies worked on inanimate objects as much as living ones. He suspected the towers attacked by them collapsed afterward.
It was very different from Fiends in that aspect. Fiends ideally ripped souls from bodies to refine like Qi for other cultivators but the wraiths took it all. They consumed to grow.
Why such life existed was not a mystery. The more profound existence became, the more varied it became. Lizards were but one of millions of normal descendants of dragons so if they ascended, they could awaken more of their bloodline.
The brothers Bori and Lan revealed the possibilities. While both still had white features, Bori now glowed with the spiritual power of a Soul Flame Phoenix. Lan was pure White Tiger.
In human form, the differences were minor but he had seen their full beast forms. Lan was a massive White Tiger that could feel like pure power and agility ready to destroy with his claws.
Bori became a massive four limbed phoenix with ethereal wings that seemed fragile as glass yet a single touch could shatter a soul.
The true Divine bloodlines were in the higher realm of the Divine Lands so anything below that was impure. Despite thinking they are lesser, Lind knew they were just simpler. The lower the realm, the less power they could wield.
Now, he found a fox that was directly from the Nine-tailed Fox. A Divine Aether Beast. A Talent he had never heard of was awakened in that little girl due to both their interference too. He realized he would be encountering even more of such beings going forward.
The wraiths were an extreme example. They still integrated Qi like normal cultivators but they did it by consumption. It was a basic force and unlike the Fiends, they were normal predators.
The issue was they were meant to be faced in a realm higher than the 3rd layer. It would be like if those soulless flying the skies got to the 2nd layer and below. They would be like wolves among the sheep.
Radiants were limited by the lower layers in their power but the soulless had no such limitations! They were death on 2 legs just by touch!
He sighed as he pushed the contemplations aside. He had no time to delve into it even if it could actually increase his strength to comprehend such knowledge for the future. It was time to prepare for the next attack.
