Chapter 1161 - 1160 - Hidden Daggers
Chapter 1161 - 1160 - Hidden Daggers
Chu watched her husband go off with the Fionan Imperials but knew it was his personal wish. She knew he still felt pain about Delenn's death. She knew he had faced it insofar as a heart demon can be dealt with.
Still, she knew his heart bled for her death like that. Better to die in battle or with one's own conviction in their heart than like that.
"Lady Chu, you are a demonic beast?" The couple of demons approached her first. Indeed, her instincts screamed at her to fight them! A playful smile was on the man's face as he towered over the woman but both were shorter than her.
Yet, she felt power in them. Despite the slim frames and lack of weapons, she felt these 2 demons were dangerous. Their robes also gave off a vibe of danger to her.
The man had a bald head but his eyes were like putrid earth. A sickening dark brown with a vile green mixed in. His intensity was great as his muscles flexed smoothly like a viper.
The demoness, by contrast, seemed like she was ready to ensnare the unwary heart. Her lavender skin practically glowed with health and her eyes were a mesmerizing aqua color to soothe the soul.
Her lips were just barely touched up to draw the eye but not overpower her face as a feature. Her body seemed so frail but Chu trusted her instincts.
The demoness could kill with a swipe of her hands!
"Gil, you are as much of a bully as ever. Lady Chu is the wife of the Triple Maester Emerald Immortal. You should know your place!" A handsome man with golden hair and silver robes stepped forward as he held a goblet of wine.
His pale eyes and fine features likely drew attention but Chu did not like the scent of him at all! The demons were blood thirsty but they felt clean to her, while the human man did not!
His smirk seemed inviting but felt vile to her. Was he a Fiend ally? She was not sure as she had no real experience with Fiends. Their agents were only human or demons so they could not be found so easily.
Yet, the human in front of her made her want to kill him for some reason.
"Adan, you were not invited to our little chat. Your wife would be angry to find you talking to strange women." The demoness smirked as she summoned a jade goblet to her hand. The liquid was far stronger in scent to Chu but she was more shocked the human had a mate!
It was not just her animal instincts that made her wary. She knew one thing about the human in front of her. He hated women.
"Your filthy mouth should never speak of my wife, Tia. Go back to your brothel and leave civilized conversation to your betters." Chu suddenly realized the trio did not even see her.
A tired sigh came from her back right as a woman with a dark veil and fine golden robes stepped up to her side.
"It is always like this with them. Their powers are not just at odds, even the individuals hate each other on sight." Chu knew another beast had come to stand next to her but the scent was unfamiliar to her.
Her race memory provided the shocking answer.
"A Nightflame Phoenix of all things is a surprise." The veiled face turned in shock to her but then a giggle left her. Her hands were tanned but glowed with the light.
"We are a rare breed but moonlight is still light. My blood is not that pure but I was able to refine it when I face my Immortal Tribulation. I am not familiar with your race, however, but I sense both a dragon and a tiger in you." Chu narrowed her black and emerald eyes but said nothing.
"You are from the Golden Vermillion Inn, I take it?" The woman nodded and Chu finally saw fiery orange eyes glow above the veil.
"I am Grand Elder Feng. It is a popular name of my race but my Feng Clan can trace our ancestry back to the Primordial Night Phoenix. The first phoenix to harness the moonlight." Chu did not know of such a phoenix but beasts grabbed at power like all cultivators.
She was a living example of that!
A spike in auras made the pair notice the trio were actually close to fighting!
Personally, she was on the demons' side but before it could escalate, the sound of metal slicing air was heard before all the auras shattered.
"We are not on a battlefield, you 3. Behave or die." An old man spoke as he calmly sipped at his wine. His hair was as white as snow but his body was heavily muscled. Chu felt a cold sweat break out just looking at him. He had no sword but she had distinctly heard one! Where was it?!
The 2 demons bowed low in respect but the human, Adan, sneered before turning away in a huff.
Were all of the envoys so dangerous?
"Hannibal, you are as direct as ever. Why did the Divine Sword Sect send such a direct person to a political meeting?" An old woman with several artifacts hanging from her waist and on her body laughed from the table with food piled high on it.
She had silver hair instead of white but unlike the rest, Chu did not feel as much danger from her, yet an instinct Lind had honed in her made her wary. Something about the woman was dangerous in a different way from a warrior.
"Tck, old hag, why don't you just die already?" Hannibal looked over at the old woman who only seemed more amused. She smiled wide as she wolfed down more food.
"That is one of the ancestors of the Stonelight Guild. She is nearly 10 mill–" A sharp aura washed over the pair of women and even Adan across the room looked nervous.
"It is impolite to speak of certain things you giant chicken." New tension rose but Chu was growing tired of their squabbling.
"Little Feng and Old Hag, I will kill you also if you start fighting." Hannibal spoke up once more but his sharp aura was clear that time. His aura was the sword!
How had a bloodbath not broken out if they were all like this after she arrived for a short time?
A new aura washed over the room like an ocean. Chu was excluded but all of the people fighting turned as one to the woman in white. Her golden blonde hair stood out sharply as she sat in a chair at the side looking at them.
Aside from Chu, only Hannibal seemed to ignore it but did not retaliate either.
"If you are all done posturing, go back to your corners and cool off. We are waiting for the true guest and no one else. Stop trying to show off to the decoy." Her eyes were like dark pools but felt like ice as well.
Chu had had enough.
Black and emerald Qi swept the room, shattering the aura of the Heavenly Maiden like it was glass. Her aura crushed all previous power that even Hannibal swept his head over sharply.
The 2 demons were stunned but Princess Fyre simply sighed as she looked on. The worst case scenario was now unfolding before their eyes.
She could just feel her father's amusement as her grandfather was likely holding his head in his hands. It was too late to stop her but before things got out of hand, a surprising person stepped forward.
"Mistress, Master Emerald Immortal stated to entertain the guests. They have come all this way and despite their immaturity, they may have things we need." Oz calmly appeared next to Chu and she felt surprised as she had not sensed him move at all!
He was only a Diamond Tier but she had somehow lost track of him?!
He stroked his white beard but Chu noticed a few strange reactions.
Hannibal actually looked with shock at Oz, the 2 demons seemed very happy, but the final person was Adan. His blood thirsty scent skyrocketed.
Before she realized, the human had launched across the room only to have shadows ensnare him tightly.
Oz was sneering at the now entangled Adan.
"So impatient, bastards are such touchy people it seems." Shocked gasps came from the other guests. A Diamond Tier dared to insult an Immortal?!
Oz then turned to the rest and his smile felt like the most dangerous thing in the whole room!
"Ranger, you can let him go. He knows better than to strike at the personal servants of Lord Emerald Immortal. He would not want to miss a chance at an elixir to solve his Emperor's bottleneck issue. Of course there is also the issue of the young Duchess of Zant." Chu saw veins throb on Adan's face but he did not try to attack again.
"How are you still alive?" Hannibal spoke from his seat but Oz only shrugged.
"How are you still bending to the will of that old fool? He is just using your reputation like always." Chu could not follow but Hannibal was now the one looking at him with rage. The sharp aura did not form but only just!
"Anyone else want to waste time?" Chu knew there had been dangers in the groups coming but it seemed the true threat was a man she thought she knew. Just who was Oz?!
"Ozymandias, the Traitor of the Sword, and assassin of the Five Black Rivers Guild. You are supposed to be dead." The Heavenly Maiden finally spoke but it was with righteous anger. Oz merely looked over at her and smirked wider.
"Little Peng, you have grown cruel in the last 2 million years." Chu finally could not keep silent but a blur of white was the only warning as a golden fist slammed outward to Oz. Chu felt time slow down as she saw resignation in his wrinkled face but a massive emerald scaled claw slammed the Heavenly Maiden into the floor.
"Chu, when I said entertain, I did not expect bloodshed. King Risselle, my apologies but I think it better we let heads cool. Also, Vice Sect Master Peng, you will not impress me with True Maidens nor your rank. War Maiden Katara literally sacrificed everything for her convictions and earned my undying respect. Do not waste her good will." Lind had returned but he looked displeased.
Unlike before, however, the crowd seemed to sympathize with him! He collected Chu and the rest before leaving the banquet.
There were too many hidden daggers in the small group she met but the most dangerous of all was Oz! Just who was he?!
