Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1148 - 1147 - Same Choice

Chapter 1148 - 1147 - Same Choice

Bori tried to find anyone alive but their bodies were strange. Some were severely wounded but not lethal. Yet, all were dead.

Their bodies seemed smaller too but the look of horror on those with intact faces left him shivering.

He did not call out or shout as he made his way to his mother. He had to save her! He had to save someone!

He finally saw his house not too far away and it was not on fire! She was safe!

He was about to call out when he slowed down. A large man with white hair was holding someone by the throat off the ground. Their legs were kicking but Bori felt his throat locked up as his heart thumped like thunder in his chest!

His body was breaking out in a massive sweat beyond his exertion just looking at the back of the man but then his eyes saw his victim! His mother!

"NO!" His body moved before he realized what was happening yet the world tilted instantly as he was slammed through the wall of his home!

His body was numb as he forced it to stand up and crawl out of the hole in the wall. He saw his mother covered in tears and staring at him. She was worried about him but the man filled his vision as he emerged as he was a monster!

Ash gray skin, white hair, and eyes that felt like it saw him as just another meal.

"So, one of you brats survived. I gave that girl a chance but she seems to have messed up." His voice made Bori's ears scream in pain and his soul shivered.

Bori had to think hard to get his mind to move but he recalled the description his Master had given him long ago.

A Fiend!

He had only heard legends of them until his Master told him the bald truth. It was far worse than he had heard before.

How could one be in front of him?!

His mother's whimper snapped him out of his stupor. He moved his wounded body and blood flowed like rivers from his injuries. The Fiend sneered at his efforts.

"You are in shock so it is not surprising you can move but that will not last. Sit still and I will get to you in a moment." His mother locked eyes with him and smiled as her body began to shrink!

"NO! NOT MY MOTHER AGAIN!" Bori remembered his mother's death when he was little. Their village had been raided and they could not stop them! Now he was an adult but still powerless.

He could not let it happen again!

He needed power! He needed to be strong enough to save her!

Time seemed to slow down as Bori realized the world was actually not flowing forward in time anymore.

What was going on?! Why couldn't he move?!

[Impatience is not a good start when you are the one making a demand my descendent.]

A voice boomed in his mind but he had no idea why.

[You asked for more power. You tapped deep into your soul and I heard. What else would I be bothering to help you for?]

Bori realized it was an ancestor! His bloodline had answered his call!

Hope bloomed but then he frowned. He felt like it was all too familiar to him.

He felt like he had already been through what he was experiencing when it slowly dawned on him as he looked at his mother.

His mother! She had faced the exact situation he was in at that moment!

She had faced her village being wiped out and had tried to awaken her bloodline to save her family. She had failed but gotten enough power to kill her enemies.

[You are able to invigorate your traces boy. Do you wish to proceed?]

His mother had failed to awaken her tiger bloodline but could he succeed? Was that the point of the trial?

Bori frowned deeply as he internally shook his head.

"I cannot awaken the tiger but I want power. I want to be strong enough to save my mother and my Master!" He spoke aloud his deepest wish. His mother failed so he could not hope to succeed.

[Humility is not a bad thing but what you wish to awaken is dangerous. Do you really want to deny my offer?]

Bori felt sure as the voice asked him. It was the tiger ancestor but he looked at the Fiend and knew he was going to have to risk it all.

The presence faded but then Bori felt his body nearly collapse as a pressure unlike anything he had ever felt appeared.

[You are a presumptuous boy! I have a tenuous connection at best but you are willing to sacrifice everything for power?]

A new voice slammed into his mind.

Compared to before, it felt like it was infinitely stronger!

"I will not compromise on my future! I want to save my mother!" His heart had no qualms and the presence seemed to approve.

[Then we will see if you can endure.]

His veins began to burn as time resumed. The Fiend paused its actions as it turned its head to him.

"So, you are adding some spice to my dessert? Let me see what fate grants me." The Fiend sneered but his mother looked hopeful at him as the burning only increased to a painful level he could only scream at.

Bori could only scream as pain flayed his meridians and blood vessels open at the same time! It was tearing him apart as it burned!

Fear began to fill his heart but he did not resist. He would rise or he would fall. There was no in between!

His skin began to blacken and fall apart but Bori endured the pain as he screamed. He refused to bow to his pain! His mother's life hung in the balance!

The Fiend began to frown but did nothing to stop the process as Bori burned to death right in front of him. Bori felt darkness close in but he never gave in to his fears.

He endured until his body was completely consumed by the burning sensation in his blood.

A pile of ashes were all that remained as his mother and the Fiend looked on. Their reactions were worlds apart.

"Pathetic. Reaching beyond his means. You should be ashamed to have sired such a pathetic child." The Fiend sneered as he turned back to finish off the woman in his grip.

She wept at the loss of her son and her death but she did not panic anymore. The Fiend smiled darkly at her strength as it only made his results more tasty!

He was so focused on consuming the human in front of him that he missed the shifting wind in the ashes of the dead boy. Wind began to build before a bright orange flame stopped him once more.

Shock filled his face as he felt the power of the flame in front of him. What was it?! Why did it inspire fear in him?!

"Primordial Flame? No, it is the Source Soul Flame!" The Fiend felt the truth of what he was seeing but it was impossible! That flame was long extinct!

He tossed the woman to the ground. He had stolen much of her life force but her soul remained intact.

Dark energy coursed along his body as vile lightning blasted out ward at the power of peak Crystal Tier Immortal. The air dimmed where it passed and any insect nearby would be reduced to ash as the life was sucked out of them.

The newly lit blaze. It should be scattered once hit but instead the Fiend saw the would birth a sun!

[YOU DARE?!] A voice boomed in the air and the Fiend flew like a ragdoll into the burning buildings on the far side of the village. Black blood stained the ground and sizzled as it consumed the plants there.

There were 2 gigantic golden eyes staring out from either side of the blaze. Their power distorted the very air as they looked down at the fallen Fiend.

"I–impossible! You are extinct! Your bloodline was extinguished!" The Fiend rose up from the rubble. His injuries healed so fast it was like nothing could be done to stop him.

The golden orbs narrowed in amusement.

[So long as life draws breath, my flame endures. It is so very thin, true, but it endures. You vile things are an abomination that have thankfully found a worthy candidate to awaken!]

The 2 orbs vanished as the flames died down and a naked Bori stood there. His body was perfect! The muscles and flawless skin were quickly covered in shimmering orange gold feathers that merged with it.

The Fiend sneered as he felt the power of the boy. He was only a Heaven Realm but he could not know how to use his power!

"DIE!" The Fiend blurred but Bori simply snapped open his right hand and grabbed the air to his left. The Fiend's fist was stopped cold as Bori opened his eyes.

Rage filled molten gold looked out from them now.

"You first, bastard!" Bori let his rage flow from his heart and heat filled his body as flames of orange gold seared the entire arm to ash!

The Fiend screamed as he fell backward but Bori did not stop. He had been a Heaven Realm for a short time relatively speaking but he had been forged in the flames of war.

It was as easy as breathing to master his power.

The Fiend tried to run but Bori felt like space was clay to him. He was not letting the bastard get away!
