Chapter 1142 - 1141 - Show Off
The smell of herbs mixed with the various scents of the jade vials holding other ingredients. The seals were just fine but his nose was sharp and could still make out the various beasts from their cores.
He recognized a lightning dragon and furnace dragon cores as they were larger than the rest. The sparks of the former made it easy but the latter was a mix of darkness and fire. It was a dragon race that excelled at insane fire temperatures.
Even other dragons would be unable to resist them!
The other shelves held various grades of essence and even aspects! He did not know those could be stored at all!
How was that done?!
The demoness, Maester Atla, let him look around as she studied the slip he gave her. It was a lot of information but he had already spread the basic elemental theories long ago.
The last year had seen dramatic improvements in everyone's Arts and cultivation just as he had seen before. The Corruption slowed down the results but did not stop the qualitative change his theories always brought about.
"So you were the source of this information, Emerald Immortal. I don't suppose you would give me your name?" She brushed back her crimson hair but the eyes were those of a predator.
Thankfully, he had long since become immune to such suggestive tactics.
"Unless you want a very irate Shadow Scaled Tiger to come calling, I suggest you stop that." Surprised bloomed on her face before a smile spread from ear to ear.
"Surely such a powerful figure is allowed more than 1 lover?" Lind smirked at her. Dragons were notorious for taking more than one mate but she was far too late to try such an argument with him.
"My family is quite large enough. Now, stop using that charm technique or I will have to find another Maester." Her laughter made her body only more vivacious but Lind stayed deadpan.
His eyes glowed briefly before his fingertips followed. Sigils suddenly blazed as the entrance to the isolated space opened without an issue!
She shot to her feet in anger but then was frozen by his cold gaze.
"I am well aware you are the only demonic Maester in this kingdom but I am perfectly happy wrapping up my business here and going back to the Fionan Empire. I have business there anyway and will find another expert there." Maester Atla realized he was not joking or simply trying to get leverage, he was dead serious.
"You're insane. No expert can help you. Your elemental theories for natural and demonic are already superior so what could you expect from me?" Her grasp at straws did not amuse him.
"That topic is separate from what you just attempted." His other hand lit up and strands of demonic poison and dark light Qi appeared visible to the naked eye. It was a charming Art.
"Dark Seduction Art, seems to be at the lowest effect but still rather expertly dispersed in the room." His words made the blood drain from her face. "You also removed the harmful effect of the poison Qi to kill the target so you did not intend me harm. You were trying to get my secrets?"
Lind's voice was cold as ice but she seemed a bit lost.
"You really can use demonic Qi?" The wonder in her voice doused his anger. She had not believed him?
He had conjured his elements but did she think it was just an artifact or an excuse?
He closed his eyes as emerald light lined his body. Various arts in natural, demonic, and Celestial Qi were constructed clearly without any difficulty. His weavings were the easiest but she was an elixir master so he began to demonstrate his skill.
Three different spheres were constructed as herbs, cores, and Qi stones were arranged around 2 of them. The last one only had Celestial Qi as he had no materials to waste on a demonstration.
Water churned in each sphere as the materials crumbled as essence was first extracted but Lind took it to an extreme. He pulled out everything down to the Laws! He then combined the natural and demonic as he focused on the 3rd sphere of water.
The Celestial Qi danced in the air as he carefully manipulated the very air and water directly. It was the strange quirk of the Qi but Lind had learned a lot from the Celestials themselves.
They could not always explain in words what he wanted to know but allowed him to demonstrate what he wanted and corrected him.
The Qi could actually manipulate the very bedrock of the world and he used it to make an elixir of the soul. The golden glow of the water was a common effect but he wove his arms to carefully compress the Qi and Laws into the mixture.
A few breaths of time passed but 12 jade vials of elixirs were happily glowing in front of the demoness who now sat bonelessly looking at them.
"Any further questions?" Lind was hardly winded. Unlike other things, elixirs were as easy as breathing for him. If he really wanted to push himself, it would need to be more complex elixirs or at least 6 more spheres.
The elixirs were all Law Grade but at the bottom rung of the grade. The natural Qi elixirs were Restoration Elixirs that shimmered with bright red liquid that sparkled with gold flecks. The demonic Qi elixirs were virulent yellow but for demons they were Rage Elixirs.
They were used for warriors to benefit from body techniques fueled by their rage. Demons could be empowered by their emotions but the elixir would magnify the effect even more.
The final elixirs were a bit difficult to explain.
They were Soul Solidification Elixirs. Celestial Qi is a bit difficult to control on its own. Weaving, however, was incredibly compatible. The cost of weavers often led to possible damage to their souls.
Lind had made elixirs that could speed up recovery but Celestial Qi had presented a unique resolution. The very damage could be consolidated and almost undone entirely using it!
Maester Atla examined them and finally took a breath as she recalled her Art.
"I will say it again, just what could I possibly teach someone like you? Show off." The last was delivered with a smirk but also the apologetic tone was accepted.
"I take it you deal with many annoyances these days?" She nodded at him.
"You have been isolated but you have surely seen how people change when they see what you are. A Triple Maester is even worse as I am sure you know. Powers would bankrupt themselves to win your favor or kill you to prevent their enemies from getting you. At least, in the old days." Lind nodded.
The Corruption had been a mixed blessing for Maesters. Where once they had to spend considerable resources to protect themselves from assassins or other sabotage, now they were so precious no one would dare defy them.
"I need help with this." A new elixir appeared in Lind's hands. It swirled with all 6 natural Qi but he let her examine it before she nodded.
"Elemental Integration Elixir. It has a much smoother effect from the Elemental Tempering Pill. It also seems to have been modified to–" Her voice froze as shock seemed to shake her whole body.
She slowly looked up at him and understanding was in her eyes.
"Your body is not compatible with the other 12 elements?" He nodded as an emerald flame burst in his palm.
"This Qi allows me to use them. It is an amalgamation of the 6 natural Qi. I learned it worked with demonic Qi surprisingly well too but it is unique to me. No one has been able to mimic what I do." It was plain truth but also a bit of falsehood.
Understanding harmonies would not help him at the moment. His body was the issue.
She leaned closer but now her gaze was pure professional.
"You are lucky and trapped. You might be able to become a Radiant Tier but no more than that. Do you know about that step in the Immortal Realm?" He nodded at first but then shook his head.
"I only know the theory, not the actual facts. It is an issue as well." She nodded but resumed examining his elixir.
"Did you ever make the Demonic Restructuring Elixir?" He tilted his head at the strange name but produced a similar vial to the first with all 6 demonic elements. She quickly examined it before nearly dropping it!
She swiftly summoned a crystal clear vial of very high quality. He then observed as she set up her work station with several demonic essences and Qi stones. He noticed a lack of beast cores but she moved her hands smoothly.
His Eyes followed the expertly removed aspects and Laws until a new elixir filled the vial. He frowned as she only made one with an amount he could make 4 at least with. Why was it so inefficient?
He pushed aside his questions as a similar demonic elixir to his now sat next to it but he noticed immediately that it was far dimmer than his. Even so, it seemed of similar quality.
"Yours is better, damn it. Yet it lacks the more rigorous restructuring of bone and flesh mine has. What is it called?" He grasped instantly what she meant.
"Demonic Infusion Elixir. It allows the elements to blend with the blood and spread throughout the body. It can achieve 100% fusion with the usage I have seen in the past." His words seemed to make her look faint but she frowned.
"Too gentle but effective. You may get the elements woven into the flesh but demonic elements are not so peaceful." He smiled at her misunderstanding of exactly how painful it was. Kexin had required it as well as Tessa later.
It might not make much sense from his description but it was extremely painful to transform a body on a fundamental level. Both elixirs were Law Grade now but the versions they were based on were from the Heaven Realm.
Still, the changed perspective was exactly what he was looking for.
"I would like to hear more." The pair took the elixirs and began to compare the various points of not only them but the entire legacy of demonic elixir history. Maester Atla showed her true colors as a researcher at that point but her elixir specialty was definitely towards battle support.
Lind was more of an all rounder yet he found the conversation enlightening. It had been too long since he could truly learn! Hopefully it would inspire him in the direction he needed to help his body!
