Chapter 1130 - 1129 - Laws of Harmony
Chapter 1130 - 1129 - Laws of Harmony
Lind's Law Eyes allowed him to see the makeup of the world on a more fundamental level than just the Qi that was everywhere. The Laws were what dictated those relationships.
It was the same as understanding fire made a room impossible to breathe in but later grasping that oxygen was what was consumed in flames.
It was why Immortals needed them to advance as their bodies and souls had blended. Simple surface level comprehension was no longer enough to refine their dantian at that point.
Only the more powerful forces behind the universe could advance their cultivation. Immortal Qi had to be refined by those same Laws to make it more powerful and fill the crystal.
Lind had never questioned what he saw but now he was in a strange place. It felt familiar and alien all at the same time. A forest like any he had seen before surrounded him but the feeling of the trees were like Gods.
A single leaf could destroy him! That feeling filled him but no fear came with it.
He walked around and realized he could not even crush the grass beneath his feet. It was stronger than him too!
The sounds of birds and other animals were missing but there was still a background hum of some kind. He could not quite grasp it but it did not distract him from moving.
He felt a pull. It was towards the heart of the forest, or at least towards what he felt was the heart.
The bright blue sky had fluffy white clouds and even these felt like they could withstand the strongest attack of any Immortal he had ever read about. That included Sovereign Tiers!
A thought finally stopped him. Lord Skinwalker did not feel as real or as strong as the forest around him! Where was he?!
The stray thought did not stop him long as he moved forward. He tried to see his body several times but it was like his aura could not leave his skin. His head would not move the way he wanted either.
He had seen human hands but he could not tell if they were tanned like they usually were after his many millennia working outside or pale white as when he had first started his journey.
Time did not seem to flow correctly. The sun definitely moved but night never came as he continued down the shadow dappled pathways.
He saw signs of animals everywhere as he should but not a single hair on their heads. No broken twigs or even the usual sound of the cycle of life and death.
It was just a feeling beyond his reach the entire time yet he never felt uncomfortable by the inconsistency.
He suspected if he did see a beast, his draconic instincts would overload him or he might die as he grasped something he should not. He understood plants but they had natural lifespans far beyond most living beings.
It was easier to accept greater power in them.
Why had he never thought of that before? Many plants serve as homes, protection, and even sustenance for so many living things but they were quietly always in the background.
The few dangerous plants only reacted, they did not entice or wander the land to do battle. They simply waited out the centuries and millennia quietly growing in strength. Fires and harvesting happened but they did not revolt.
It was always understood but he had never really contemplated at how foolish people seemed to kill each other as the quiet plants lived generation after generation until no one could harm them again.
The forests, given time, would outlive them all.
After that unexpected revelation, he came to a hollow. The trees were thick around a dark opening into a space that dove down into the earth. It was dark but he felt like it was a barrier.
He could finally look down but he was in shock! He was wearing dark suit pants and his white button up shirt from Earth!
He looked at his hands and noticed they were far older than he had ever seen. Only because he was a cultivator could he see the fine aging lines that were forming even when he was in his late 20s when he died.
He could not find the path he had walked there but the forest looked serene. What was going on? What was this place?
He swallowed his saliva as he realized he was sweating and sore as well. He was mortal!
He walked to the dark entrance and stepped down into the hollow. The world changed in that single step.
He felt it. He felt like he was somewhere he had definitely been before. He found the valley was lit up but not with sunlight.
Flames, many flames, were orbiting around a large pyre right in the center of the valley. It was not only that but balls of pure elemental Qi were connected to all of them. Different paths led to different colored flames.
"Harmonies? No, not harmonies, but Laws?" He was mortal but he saw the truth instinctively. His emerald harmony was missing until he got near the pyre at the very heart of the valley.
It was there he found a man he knew well. It was himself!
A young man with wild emerald hair, crimson robes lined in black and gold with the Frey Clan symbol emblazoned on the front. His skin was well tanned and muscles pure. His eyes were also closed but for some reason, he was not surprised to see himself.
A pair of stunning emerald eyes with vertically slit pupils looked up at him and he froze. It was not a friendly gaze at all!
"So, we are here again? You are not supposed to be here at all until we reach the Divine Realm." A sudden chill went down Lind's back. The Divine Realm?! Who was he speaking to?!
His confusion must have been clear.
"This is not the future nor the past. This is a place you cannot reach yet. You have touched on it before when you face tribulations and advance but only briefly. The fact you are human shows you are not ready to comprehend what is here." Lind was confused. The man had his face but he had the feeling it was not actually a man.
It was more distant and the pacing felt stilted. It was like the man did not really grasp speaking well.
"Are you a spirit?" A silence descended as the now his cultivator self seemed confused.
"That is not entirely inaccurate but also wrong. Essentially all souls are spirits but not all spirits are souls. Does that answer your question?" Lind felt like a thunderbolt went off in his head.
All souls were spirits? Harmonies were merged with the soul so 6 elementals could advance. It was a requirement none could avoid.
Lind slowly looked around and saw the 18 elemental orbs connected to the various harmonies before something clicked into place.
"Spirit Laws." The 2 words left his mouth but the cultivator version looked surprised at last before a slow smile spread.
"So, you experienced something that put you on the right path. Do you remember what it was?" Lind tried to recall and described his walk up to the Fire Law Crystal and the cultivator version frowned.
"If it was really a Fire Law Crystal, it would have fractured and ripped apart the entire area for 1000 square kilometers. None could escape in time, but if it is only damaged and holding on, it is not one of those." Lind slowly felt shock spread as he recalled how the royal family had some technique tied to the crystal and now suffered due to it.
"Crimson Harmony Law Crystal?!" The forest shook but the cultivator looked at him in grim seriousness before nodding.
"Harmonic crystals exist, if the right environment was found, it could be nurtured into such a thing but the odds against it are so ridiculously high you would have better odds of building a palace out of Law Crystals." Lind began to understand.
The damaged crystal resonated with his harmony but then where was he? The moment he thought of the question his head nearly split open as he also fell.
"You are not ready but are getting closer. One day, we will truly become one." The words were faint but Lind felt they were critically important as he opened his eyes and looked around at the complex array of harmony flames.
At that moment, his emerald harmony was refined exponentially as Laws of the various Harmonies became much clearer to him! He soaked up the knowledge and felt his cultivation would advance by leaps and bounds!
The world faded as he saw his cultivator self resume sitting in front of the pyre. So many questions plagued him but the knowledge of the place was fading like a dream.
Once Lind was gone the cultivator version looked at where he had been and smiled.
"Closer each time but he keeps coming here outside of tribulations. None of the others do but they are far from his level. He is not as good a teacher as he thinks." The tone was still steady but clear amusement was there.
The man closed his eyes and the emerald harmony floated around him once more. If Lind had been there, he would have seen faint tendrils of Qi and Laws flowing out to all the harmonies from the cultivator version of himself.
His ambition was enormous but both time and data were needed. One day, he may even recall all the times he came to the strange forest but only the future would reveal that truth if he survived.
