Chapter 1125 - 1124 - Samsara
Chapter 1125 - 1124 - Samsara
Lind had nothing left. His crystal was dim and just shy of being cracked while his body was in not much better state. His natural healing was barely keeping him awake and he did not dare to down an elixir at that point.
The pair carried him to the prone form of Delenn and Mills was recovering next to her. The pair of women guarding them were odd. He knew what they were supposed to be but unlike Lord Skinwalker or the dragons he met in the Divine Inheritances, they did not feel like Divine Realm cultivators.
"Projections?" The pair looked at each other in sync and sighed.
"You would not yet understand. Still, you have surprised us and likely marked yourself for further issues in the future. The bastard is not one to forgive defeat. I would take him at his word that he can get at your family." The blonde spoke as lively as before but she was far more serious than the last time.
The brunette looked him over and frowned.
"You need to stop doing that. Nearly breaking yourself may give opportunities to push beyond but you seem to have been doing that too often. The damage is accumulating without time to heal." Lind would have been glad to take time but time was his enemy.
His eyes must have betrayed him as the pair looked at him but then smiled.
"We can aid your recovery but it will come at a cost. You will not be able to advance easily at the time you try to break through to the Divine Realm. Do you want our aid?" They both assumed he would make it which was heartening but he did not immediately reply.
He had a glimmer of what they wanted to do but he shook his head.
"I will take time to recover as much as I can but instead might you be able to grant me a boon?" Both looked confused before looking at the wasted woman barely holding on as they became grim.
"She is beyond any hope of life. Even her soul is just a flicker of its former self. She is no longer Immortal. The heart demon has consumed her to the brink." Lind nodded but then nearly stumbled as he got dizzy.
"I am not asking for restoration to life. I am asking if you can help her like you did me." A crack of thunder was a clear warning but he did not care at the moment. The women also looked pale as the power was not normal.
The brunette knelt and her hand glowed but she quickly frowned.
"This is a complete mess. Nothing I know of can help her, even Divine Soul Master would have nothing to give at his full strength." Lind was shocked he did not feel a headache but both Bori and Chu suddenly paled.
His confused look made the blonde laugh.
"You just struck down a direct enemy of all existence. Heaven has granted you a boon to learn more beyond the limits for the time we are here. They, of course, do not have it." Lind nodded but then motioned to move him closer to Delenn.
He had nothing left but there was something he still had a lot of to give.
[I know this is bending if not breaking rules but you are fair. She was murdered. I simply want her to have a new life even if she forgets everything, I want her to enter the cycle. Am I allowed to offer this?] He was humble. He knew he was giving a big ask but he hoped the conditions would allow that much.
The clouds began to rumble but no wrath was felt. It was like they were thinking. It was always weird because he felt there was a will behind Heaven and Earth yet it seemed as tied down by the rules it set for everyone.
He had them lower his body until he could hold her hand. It was cold with death but he felt a flicker of life inside her.
"Delenn. I am here. I killed him. Nest is dead." It was not a lie as the man was not exactly going to live for much longer. Bori seemed to grasp his intent and raced off as Chu stood guard.
She seemed actually afraid of the 2 women nearby. She was wise for that.
A barely coherent face slowly formed above where her dantian was. Her soul was so mangled that she did not even recall how she looked!
"L–i–n–d?" Her voice was faint and he smiled sadly as it was likely the last time he would hear it.
"I am here, Master. I am always here." The partial face smirked before a disconnected hand brushed through his cheek. She likely meant to caress it but there was not enough left for even that basic movement.
He could only look on as the hand began to fall apart and then the face too became even fainter. She was almost entirely gone before the world froze.
Lind looked around and saw even the 2 Divine Realm women were not able to move.
He wondered what was going on when sparks of light began to appear around him. They felt far more real than even when he met Skinwalker! He also felt like all the questions he had about his harmony, Laws, and anything he ever wanted to know were just within reach!
"Spirits of Heaven and Earth?" The floating orbs seemed to dance around him in joy before gathering around Delenn. Something profound shifted and the partial face began to fill in and then a body formed!
It was so easy but at the same time Lind felt like his mind was trying to leave through his ears and nose as he watched. It was far beyond him! Far beyond anything he could ever do!
Delenn slowly opened her eyes and took in both her body and his condition before a tired smile crossed her face.
"They got me, huh?" He nodded. "Nest is dead?"
Lind nodded again.
"There was one more, Lind. Another traitor. I never found out who because Nest never led me to them. I only know they had to be high up in the Empire. High enough to protect Nest and manipulate the security of my pavilion. He did not have that access. Only a few did." Lind nodded as knowledge was suddenly imparted into his mind.
"Do you know what is happening?" He asked but wanted to be sure. He had seen Immortal souls without a body before. She looked nothing like them. Too faint and weak to have no presence at all was not how she should be.
She knelt down to his eye level and nodded.
"They granted me the only true immortality as a gift to you. Every time you send that bastard away, it helps. It is risky but you do it anyway. You need to take time to heal this time, Lind. They told me. If you try to force yourself to face the inverted mountain before you are healed, you will die. No karma, no last moment intervention, nothing will be allowed. You will have chosen to die." She looked at him seriously and he sighed.
He was not ready to die. He had too much to do aside from his main goal. He wanted to kill the bastard himself!
"This is not the end. We may meet again." He looked up confused before a powerful bright light flared and Delenn vanished. He thought time would resume but everything remained frozen as the orbs slowly disappeared until one remained.
It was familiar to him but he could not recall where he had seen it before until it took a shape.
A small man in fine robes floated in front of him looking tired.
"You are still a True Lord and Progenitor, Lind Frey, but you are relying too much on both. I am giving you this warning that forcing things will cause a fatal backlash if you continue. If you truly wish to make your goal, you need to step back and examine what you are doing." The tiny man's glowing eyes seemed to consider something before a spark touched Lind's body.
The aching feeling in his dantian vanished!
He looked shocked and confused but the man held up his tiny hands.
"You are not wrong about time running out. The Fiends are not defeated but if you can destroy their hold on the 2nd layer, their plans will be forever foiled in the Celestial Fields. Good luck." The sense of time resumed but Lind noticed his 2 visitors looked truly shocked.
They may not have seen anything, but they knew something of what passed. Lind had so many questions but he was sure he would not get any answers.
[Lind, did the Spirits come?] He nodded and the pair looked troubled. Still, they said nothing else before the sky rumbled once more.
"Our time is up but know that if he tries direct action, it will now invite us again. At the very least, you are safe from that going forward. Take care of yourself, Lind Frey." The pair began to glow before being pulled into the sky.
The clouds dispersed and Lind slowly stood up. Now that his dantian was back up to snuff, his recovery would speed up.
"Master." Bori brought a husk of a man to them. His once youthful features and sarcastic words were all gone. All that was left was the truth. He was a discarded puppet.
Still, he lived.
"Nest. I have a promise to keep but first I will get answers." The man tried to move but his body was useless as Lind summoned an elixir and had him drink it. It had been a seemingly empty vial but it had a special elixir inside.
Nest made noises but if he was fully capable he would be screaming.
His free will was being stripped away to lie.
"Chu." He was still too weak but she had her hands flare as Nest finally straightened out in pain. He was still trying to resist but in only a few moments it was over. His body was too weak to endure such a forceful extraction.
"I do not understand, Husband. He only had one thought when I asked him. It was of a young girl with similar features but not a name. She only had a title." Lind narrowed his eyes but had her transmit everything before shock overtook him.
The girl was unknown but her title was one he could not understand.
She was the Crown Princess of the Fionan Empire!
