Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1067 - 1066 - Shadow of the Fiends

Chapter 1067 - 1066 - Shadow of the Fiends

Jur was covered in sweat as she manipulated the formation at her command. She had thought she would be in charge of an original formation from the Heavenly Maiden Sect but it had been upgraded by Papa.

She still called him that in her heart. She felt happy to be of help but the human ally had nearly been turned into a weapon against them. The instant his bracelet died, a weaving tied into the formations lit up.

She had been able to direct it and understand it was a purification beam of some kind. Its effect on the human was startling.

His rampage was brought to a halt but it was clear he could no longer fight.

Her mother ordered him to retreat and she followed him with the beam until he was back inside the wards. The human collapsed but looked far better now that he was safe.

She returned to the outside battle and saw the survivors were reorganizing while still attacking them.

"You are good at this, Jur." War Maiden Katara was sitting on a comfortable chair near her. Her health was still not too affected by her current state but Papa had given strict orders to her and that he would know if she defied him.

Papa was scary when he was taking care of his patients.

"What is this thing?" She was currently looking at what had been a wall but the pedestal was what she was manipulating to work the formations and weavings.

"I am not entirely sure. Your Father said we needed a more efficient control room and just Forged it as if it was nothing. He needs to relax more." The teasing smile made Jur smirk but then she saw her mother getting surrounded.

She was about to help when amber flames scorched a neat circle around her. Relief flooded Jur as her mother did not even pause as she flickered across the battlefield.

She focused on the weaker foes and allocated some more resources to the areas getting dimmer on her wall display.

She had tried to understand all the things Katara and Papa said but essentially she was moving the levers on the pedestal while making sure the heart of the formations stayed stable.

"I am not kidding, you might have a gift for formations. You should have your Father test you when this is over." War Maiden Katara's voice was no longer teasing nor light. She looked serious.

Jur could not focus on her but she felt her tail swish in joy. She liked getting complimented.

She saw they were reaching a stalemate with the army attacking them as blood began to soak into the ground and streets outside. The crimson stains did not bother her much but she knew her Papa would not like that she was unmoved by dying people.

One of the advantages over humans she seemed to have was an instinctual grasp of complex concepts like death and killing. It was normal to her but her Papa valued life. He would kill as needed but he never enjoyed it.

Jur was not enjoying what she saw but she was not much bothered by it either. She did know if Papa or her Mother died, she would be devastated. She also felt close to the War Maiden and Nana. Nana especially was important to her!

Ranger and Oz were friends but she found she could contemplate their deaths with ease.

The various refugees did not matter to her at all. Still, they mattered to her Papa so she would fight for them.

The 2 tiger brothers were a different matter. She felt like they were kin in some way but she did not know how. Her Papa promised to address it but she focused on her task.

The dragon in the sky was bleeding from several wounds but not nearly enough to be concerned. Jur found her beautiful.

Flames and wind attacks shredded the weak foes but the black cloaked group resisted easily. It was clear that they were somehow negating the Qi.

She tried to stretch the detection arrays as Papa taught her but it could not quite reach.

"Here, use this." War Maiden Katara handed her a golden metal tablet. Jur infused her Qi into it and suddenly it was like she could see with her own eyes across the battlefield!

She turned her head to look at the area ripped asunder by the various attacks. Smoldering tears in the ruins obscured most of her sight but she could use her own instincts to push past simple visual input.

Her vision cleared and she saw artifacts shattering like glass and releasing something that made her throw up instantly.

She was caught by Katara as she stumbled and emptied her stomach entirely.

"Vile! It was so vile! What was that?!" Jur was repulsed by whatever was being released by the broken artifacts.

Katara was gently patting her back but did not know what Jur had felt or seen. The golden tablet was one of the original control pads for the formations but only barely worked in the current state of the war towers.

[It was Fiend Qi. Something it seems your world has not had to face but that pesky True Lord has.] A voice boomed in her head. [It would seem I owe that child a favor. Thus I will instruct you and that brat he brought back. The other one has to deal with your mother. I pity the poor boy.]

Jur did not understand what the voice meant but knowledge flowed into her and anger rose in her heart.

How dare they use such Qi?!

"Bad people must pay!" She suddenly understood much more about the formations in front of her, but the weavings were still beyond her she suddenly lit up with certain sigils.

[I will not let that ancestor out do me! Pay attention, Jur.] Papa's voice suddenly filled her head!

How did he do that?!

Even more knowledge flowed into her but unlike before, she also felt like she understood the principles behind what she was shown! She smiled sweetly as her Papa was always so careful not to simply force knowledge on her. It was more like condensed lessons!

[I have to focus on my next task so I will not be able to help you. Burn those fools, Jur!] His presence left but Jur felt so happy!

She realized she could help now! With the ancestral spirit's help and then Papa explaining things to her, she knew what to do.

"Why are you grinning all of a sudden?" Jur snapped out of her thoughts and realized hardly any time had passed! Her mother and the dragon had hardly moved from before!

Jur's fingers danced across the controls and the formations began to sing with emerald Qi!

The wards began to condense discs of strength that were draining the reserves and cultivators alike but none could stop it!

Roars drew the attention of all the warriors on the battlefield as massive emerald tigers formed! Many were confused but Chu smirked as she continued to dodge the attacks from the Immortals.

"Go, my daughter." Jur heard her words. She smiled as she set loose her attack!

There were 5 massive emerald tigers that launched over the thousands fighting them. Just like her mother and the dragon, their attacks did nothing to the constructs.

It was because they were not created by Jur's Qi, but her Papa's! They were Law Grade constructs!

ROOOOOOAAAAARRRR!

Shockwaves made ears bleed in all directions. The paws smashed aside the army like they were so many sticks! Nothing could stop them but the black cloaked Immortals did not pause to attack them.

Much more powerful lightning and other simple attacks were unleashed that finally did some damage to the constructs, but not nearly enough to stop them. They were not alive so they did not bleed nor feel weakness!

The group suddenly tossed out black artifacts that shattered as soon as they were exposed to air. Vile Qi flew outwards but the expected result did not happen!

Instead of shattering the tigers, they became stronger! They also transformed the Qi into natural Qi!

"What are these things?! How can they–" A man screamed before he was rendered into tiny pieces by the shadows! Chu appeared in a mist of blood smiling like the devil himself!

"Strike now!" A woman spoke up but Chu vanished once more as the tigers dispersed all the Immortals. They could not stop the damned things!

The 5 tigers finally arrived at their location. It became a bloodbath! They shredded Immortals like they were paper! Chu danced alongside them as if she had done it hundreds of times before!

Where they went, death followed but unlike before, the Immortals could not fight back so easily! Their trump card of Fiend artifacts was rendered moot!

"Run, run for your–" An amber scaled tail smashed into a man screaming retreat orders. The vast army could only look on as Immortals were treated little better than cattle!

Jur was feeling confidence rise as she was now exhausted. The resources and cultivator swapped out to maintain the wards.

The wards were almost back to full strength when a massive force slammed into the northern section! If it had been at full strength, Jur would have felt a reaction and that was all, but it was weakened due to her conjuring of the tigers!

"Prince Petryn, they are coming from the north!" She relayed the message to the nearest relay point and hoped it would reach him in time.

Jur felt the south fluctuate as well so she was forced to consolidate faster! Their enemies had not wasted an opportunity but the tigers were not done. They raced to the south while Chu and Lady Teegan headed north.

The war was just beginning.
