Chapter 1066 - 1065 - Final War Begins

Lightning slashed across the open sky, tornadoes ripped up the ground, and all manner of attacks slammed into the shimmering wards of the war towers in the ruins of Crescent City.

What refugees were stable enough were armed and spread out to intercept any invader but thus far they had no worries.

It was actually quite pretty as the pristine white towers slowly rose to their various heights due to their state of repair. Katara had been able to restore a complex formation using all the towers to further increase their defenses.

In other words, it would take at least a 5 man team of Sliver or Shard Tiers to breach their defenses.

At first, it seemed laughable that so many Immortals were free to anger the Fionan Empire, but they seemed cursed by fate.

A large force showed up to support the mix of sects allied against them. The once barren ruins now teemed with tents and figures getting a good location to conjure Qi or cast Arts.

In that number was a mix of Sliver and Shard Tier Immortals!

"It was as Lord Cord said. The enemy had come for us." Nana was on the top floor of the most completed tower, currently the 7th, with Priestess Chu beside her. A teenage seeming Jur was next to them but she was still only in the World Realm.

She was nearly ready to face her Sky Tribulation but they had run out of time.

"Their attempts to breach the defenses are futile but will drain our resources in time. I will head out with the dragon and human Prince. We will deal with the Immortals. The rest of you begin to attack once we are out there." Chu was clad in chainmail and leather armor. The leather plates were stronger than any metal even Katara knew of.

Husband had made it for her!

Lady Teegan, a worthy follower from what she could tell, would join them. Prince Petryn refused to stand aside as they were invaders to his Empire.

Their soldiers were only Sky Realms and a few Heaven Realms so they would be more helpful controlling their offensive formations.

Katara could not touch those in her current condition but she could delegate temporary authority.

"Mom, I want to fight!" Jur's ears flickered back and forth in frustration but Chu patted her head fondly.

"Soon, my daughter. You are learning to fight but Immortals are too much for you. You have yet to even see your father and I when we spar, so you cannot see them." Chu was not boasting.

They sparred for everyone to watch and learn that could see them. Oz, stunningly, could perceive them despite being a Diamond Tier. Jur simply needed more experience and time would not let them give it to her.

"You will still fight from inside. War Maiden Katara entrusted you with an important job." It was no lie. There were certain functions Katara could not entrust even to the Fionan soldiers but Jur was technically the daughter of a trusted guest elder.

It was a fine line but it helped Jur had been observed by Katara all the time they were rebuilding. Chu was actually curious how her daughter would do but she would see soon enough.

"Go to your positions. We go to war!" Chu vanished and the world shifted around her until Teegan and Petryn were in front of her by a shimmering ward. It was as bright as the sun but none of her instincts reacted.

She sneered that they could not even get Husband's wards to flicker with thousands of attacks.

"We are ready." Teegan spoke up and Chu saw amber scales shimmer on her pale skin. Her own skin was covered in black scales as well but Petryn was nothing to scoff at. His silver armor he now wore increased his battle strength by a half a minor realm!

Anyone thinking he was a simple Sliver Tier would be in for a shock!

"Prepare yourselves. Moving through space is not like a gateway." She touched both of them and felt the strain of her body and dantian instantly. It was far more difficult to move multiple people for her than for Husband but the lower the realm, the more she could do at once.

It seemed 2 Immortals were her limit!

The world changed as they appeared in a copse of trees on the other side of their enemies. Teegan seemed fine but Petryn was wide eyed in shock.

"Go!" They had no time as she could feel Immortal Qi moving in the air! No matter how much power Husband could put into his creations, the tainted Qi would weaken it over time and it still needed resources to function.

Petryn actually blurred to her sight which was impressive but the trail of air Qi made it all too clear how he did it. He could not hide himself well.

Teegan, on the other hand, launched herself straight up with not even a ripple of Qi! Chu smirked as her own body shifted to allow for larger limbs and stronger scales. She found her current form all the more deadly as the broken ground raced under her body.

She saw a few attacks sent her way but they might as well have been standing still! The roar of a dragon shook the battlefield not long after.

The aura of an Immortal dragon was more than enough to freeze the 5000 strong army! Chu felt the need to roar as well but repressed it. She would not give in to the instincts. She could do far more damage as the other 2 began to shred the weaklings before them.

Blood flew in the air as limbs scattered in all directions.

Despite the success of their attack, she felt her instincts scream in danger as violet lightning flashed across the sky.

Demonic lighting at the Immortal level!

Chu saw it struck a massive amber scaled dragon as its wings caused the air to flow like a tempest. Teegan was not as comfortable in war as she should be but she was not unfamiliar with battle. The lighting was conducted out of her body with ease!

She saw a spike of earth suddenly rise in front of her but she sneered as she felt the world dim in her vision. When everything became normal she was on the other side of it! Shadows were like stepping stones for her.

Ranger may have an exquisite detection Art but her natural skills included teleportation via shadows!

Her claws extended like deadly swords to sever the fools in front of her. They screamed and cast Arts like sand on a beach but nothing they did mattered. Only a handful of beings were a threat to her and they were reacting!

The black cloaked Immortals focused on the 3 of them but Immortal Arts were not so easy to conjure in the current world. Still, grade 7 artifacts were just as deadly if used correctly.

A crossbow lit up with light Qi as the bolts began to fly from it. Her shadows were being taken from her!

Chu only sneered more if they thought that was enough but one of the bolts cracked her scales! She could not take many hits from it!

"Focus on the formations, we will deal with the Immortals!" A voice spread in the air. She narrowed her black and emerald eyes. A commander with such confidence bothered her.

Either they were fools that did not mind losing people or there was something else going on.

Her instincts were right.

Crimson lines lit up around her! The spirits cursed array!

She could not dodge that!

She felt her soul shiver as something brushed up against it but emerald light lit up in her dantian! Her Husband had cleansed her body and thus left deep traces of his harmony in all aspects of herself.

Her worry was the other 2!

She looked up at the amber scaled dragon and saw a dimmer but no less potent emerald flare around her body. Husband had clearly stated she was the only other person cleansed by harmonic Qi but she did know tempering had a similar effect.

It seemed to keep the dragon safe for the moment.

The Prince, however, was concerning. A bracelet flared emerald yet died very quickly!

[Petryn, fall back!] She put all her strength into a mental message and saw him barely nod before he froze in place. Pain was clear in his face as something was wrong.

Frustrated, Chu had to go after him or things would go badly very quickly! An enraged dragon was not a helpful thing plus Husband valued the human for his blood relation to his master.

She felt like time was playing tricks on her as Petryn was struggling with a crimson energy slowly encircling his body but she could not seem to move any faster! Shadows were denied her by the thrice cursed crossbow bolts of light Qi!

She brought out dark light to combat it but it still did not give her what she needed!

She was almost to him when he seemed to calm down. Her instincts flared as the sword in his hand flared with intent and came swinging at her!

"Enemies of the Empire must fall!" Chu cursed as the human now became a liability!

They did not know they could use the array so overtly!

She was forced to dodge and felt her fur shaved off despite being stronger than him! That sword was a grade 7 weapon!

It had to be a peak mid to high grade to hurt her!

She was not sure what to do when a bulge came from the wards around the towers. It slammed out a column of emerald light stunningly but she knew Husband was not in control!

It engulfed Petryn and his eyes cleared in horror as he looked at his surroundings.

"Flee! Get back inside the wards! You cannot stay here!" He nodded and leapt across the battlefield. There were no Immortals in front of him and the strange beam stayed with him until he was inside the wards.

She felt the vile feeling on her soul try harder but she shook it off. She could not hold still as a massive metal bar came slamming down where she stood!

Amber dragon fire vaporized it as well followed by a scream.

Chu saw a man trying to swat out the flames but he was burned alive like dry kindling!

"Is Petryn ok?" She only glanced up at the soaring dragon and nodded before racing back around to try and get at her enemies!

"Kill them quickly and retreat. We cannot stay out here." She heard a roar in response and narrowed her eyes ahead. It was time to decimate their foes!
