Chapter 1007 - 1006 - Useless Battle
Chapter 1007 - 1006 - Useless Battle
Dragons. They were one of the mightiest beasts in any realm but they were not alone at the top. Divine bloodlines were present in all races to a varying degree of quality but there were 4 at the top.
The dragon, phoenix, black shelled tortoise, and the white tiger. Even though humans believed that meant they ruled over other beasts, it was not wholly accurate. It simply meant that they grew at an alarming pace few could keep up with so their strength became massive compared to others.
Even so, other races could beat them if they had enough power or numbers. No one was invulnerable or absolute.
There were exactly 1 exception to that rule. A True Lord invoking Heaven and Earth. If they did so, no beast in existence could stop them. Heaven and Earth were not so lax that petty wills could be invoked, yet no beast in their right mind would cross one.
It was best to not invite the Wrath of Heaven on your bloodline!
So when 2 dragons appeared in the middle of the beast tide, one with a pure Divine Bloodline and at the Crystal Tier, few beasts felt like crossing it. Further, that beast was unlike anything in their race memories.
A Progenitor was a potential True Lord. There were rumblings that a True Lord dragon had appeared so the beasts were quick to halt their actions.
The shock that the emerald dragon followed the weaker amber one was complete as she stepped forward to the Starhide Wolves. Her wings were furled back as her single horned head looked at them.
"I am Teegan, Ruler of the Blessed Amber Scale Dragons. Who is the ruler or rulers of your pack?" Her voice was crystal clear and a strange feeling came from her. It was hard to separate but she was a divine dragon too!
"You dare to come here, Last Princess?" A gravelly voice boomed as the wolves parted to let 3 gigantic wolves through. The leader had an ear missing and the eye on the same side blinded but his power was clear.
Peak Crystal Tier!
The other 2 were also equal to him. Both were female but had patches of scarred flesh as well. Considering the legend of their hides, the power to hurt them was not small!
The wolves all had bluish eyes that seemed to sparkle. The feeling of looking at living starlight was stronger but Teegan stood tall before them. Maester Cord was behind her but said nothing.
This was her first official act and she had to go through with it.
"I was brought to the Eternal Blossom Sect to focus on my cultivation and left before the fall of it. I came back to rescue my fellow disciples. During this, I learned of the incoming beast tide." Per Maester Cord's suggestion, she told the truth.
While he had operated to pull off the rescues, he would not have known to come back unless she told him. In a way, she had saved the people that way.
She still thought he was being stubborn about giving her credit but that was not important at the moment.
"Oh? If you have such honor, I will not stop you, but the other humans are ours?" The gruff voice was disinterested and not even directed at her. All 3 were looking at Maester Cord. She had expected it but she felt frustrated at being ignored!
The ground rumbled as she felt a breath on her back. She turned back to fine Maester Cord looking at her.
[Do you wish me to kill them all?] His voice was in her head! She glanced around and felt all the beasts were trembling. He had spoken to them all at once.
"Telepathy?! How does he have telepathy?!" One of the females spoke but the last one seemed to prepare to attack but the gruff one swished his tail to stop her.
"Why do you follow such a weakling? You have power, power like I have not felt since before the Corruption. I would obey you." The last words seemed to shock the wolves but no objection was made.
Teegan felt like it was all pointless.
"You are not to kill anyone. Maester Cord, you protect life, I would rather you not take it." Her words made the gruff wolf laugh.
"Cultivation is the path of death, child. You are young. There is no way that mighty being does not have a pile of corpses behind him." Teegan felt peeved at being treated like a child.
"My ancestor died for me. My very existence is burdened with that fact. I do not want useless battles. If Maester Cord fought you all, you would die for no reason. There are only enemies inside that Law Binding." She spoke more from her heart than ever before.
The wolves bristled at her words but a single glare from the emerald eyes left no doubt death awaited them if they caused trouble.
The 3 leading wolves now looked directly at Teegan.
"You do not know the path of others Hilzen. Do not judge or we are no better than those human parasites." The gruff wolf flattened his ear and bowed.
"Junior Teegan, you call him Maester Cord, why is that? Dragons do not pursue the production fields like others. Beasts have no need of such." The final of the trio spoke up. Her scars were more than the other 2 combined but her age felt less than either.
Rumbling laughter came from Maester Cord but he nodded at Teegan she could proceed.
"Maester Cord is not originally a dragon. He is a dragon soul Progenitor." She then glanced at him but he gave no indication if she could proceed from that. Her words were shocking enough.
"Indeed!" The female wolf began to wag her tail excitedly. Hilzen sighed and looked down while the other female wolf simply put her paws over her snout.
Teegan was confused.
"Miren, do not bother the–" Hilzen tried to stop what was to come but Teegan lost track of the female wolf. She simply appeared next to Maester Cord but his own tail was at her throat while an artifact appeared near Teegan to defend her.
[Do not do that again, senior.] Cord's voice was stern but the wolves focused more on the artifact. They could feel it was Law Grade!
Maester indeed!
"A Forger?! You live up to your reputation!" Miren seemed to wag her tail harder but Maester Cord never moved his tail.
Teegan felt the sheer power of the wolf in front of her. Her life could be snuffed out with ease!
"ENOUGH!" A new voice broke the tension as all 3 Crystal Tier wolves flinched.
They slowly looked to the back but it was not a wolf, but a woman that walked forward. She had azure, white, and black hair that sparkled which told Teegan she was still a Starhide Wolf.
Her aura was stronger than the other 3!
"I gave you 3 instructions. Kill all the humans! So why are you placating these 2 giant lizards!" Her eyes were blind but she could clearly still see! Her name for them seemed to cause discomfort in the previous 3.
"Leader, the young one aside, the emerald dragon is a dragon soul–" Hilzen was sent skyward with a single gust of wind!
Maester Cord narrowed his eyes but Teegan was the one that called out.
"Save him!" Elements danced in the air as Hilzen was caught with ease and lowered to the ground.
"Oh ho? You command that former human? Do you think I am blind?! You are his student! Why do you think they ignored you? He is clearly in charge!" Her words pierced Teegan but laughter suddenly came from behind her. She turned her neck back to see Maester Cord laughing!
[Senior is correct that I am her teacher, but I am not tied to these lands. She lived here and learned here long before I came along. Further, I have no authority here. She does. As you correctly identified. She is the Princess of the Blessed Amber Scale Dragons.]
His words warmed her but then all her instincts screamed of danger!
The artifact activated and Teegan found herself in a distorted space! A fist slammed into the shield and did not even scratch it!
"Ho? Not bad, but I will not have my will thwarted." She transformed one of her arms into a paw with giant claws!
The threat coming from it was much higher but that was when the world changed.
Emerald spikes slammed into the ground and shattered it like glass. The woman had to flip backwards to escape yet it was pointless. Emerald flames engulfed her entirely!
Two moves. It only took 2 moves for Maester Cord to corner the leader of their pack!
"Not bad but that little girl is right about you. You are not a warrior by trade." Teegan snapped her head back to the back to find the woman there completely intact! Her robes were not even singed!
[I am not a warrior, no, but you are just as dead.] The wolves bristled but then froze as the previous emerald spines were all at their throats! No one had seen them move at all!
The woman finally showed surprise.
"Useless battle indeed! Your words were not wrong Princess Teegan. My apologies. You have gotten yourself an excellent teacher!" The spines returned to Maester Cord with a thought. The artifact also ceased protecting her.
"I thank you for the compliment but I cannot take credit for the spirits' mercy. The reason we have come is 2 fold. The first is that there is a single man we wish to take from that place. The rest are yours to do with as you please." A feeling of joy spread among the beasts at that.
"And the second?" The pack leader was the only one still calm. She knew they were being softened up for something.
"I would like permission for Maester Cord to build a Gate to replace the one that is currently not working. It will connect to my lands as well to let the innocent humans flee to lands that can take them in." The blind woman tilted her head before looking at Maester Cord.
"You can work the kukan stone?" He nodded but said nothing else. She shrugged at that point.
"Very well, agreed." The instant that happened, the Law Binding snapped apart!
"DIE!" A single man appeared in fiery robes but whatever he was about to do was scattered like leaves on the wind.
[I have waited a VERY long time to meet you, Eternal Flame Sect Master. I have someone who wants to thank you personally for over a million years of imprisonment!] The tone from Maester Cord was no longer calm and it made all the beasts shiver!
The other beasts took that for their cue and swarmed the now exposed sect. Screams followed as the walls were ripped apart!
The beast tide finally came to an end.
