Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1006 - 1005 - Immortal Beast Tide

Chapter 1006 - 1005 - Immortal Beast Tide

Lind had witnessed the aftermath of beast tides in his mortal realm. The Floating Isles really could not have them as the islands were too small or isolated to be caught off guard.

Further, the islands had been divided up so much there was a stark separation of beast and non-beast powers.

Beast tides in the mortal realm could be devastating to any power. The Lotus Empire had lost the Western District in total a few million years ago from what he had learned.

The ones he had witnessed were in the Heavenly Maiden Sect lands. They flattened forests and damaged villages. People died but formations could help mitigate them.

The cause was usually a manifested aether beast claiming territory from the existing beasts. A manifested beast had incredible power as the salamander he had fought on the Fortune Way.

Thus it was a bit random for it to happen in settled lands.

In the wild forests it was due to the death of a great beast and the new generation fighting for domination.

The displaced beasts moved outward and triggered beast tides that would eventually reach settled lands. The more powerful forces hardly felt threatened but anything below mid-level powers would suffer a tragedy.

The Heaven Realm lands had been a vastly different experience. Beasts actively had more intelligence at a greater rate and due to the Fiend War, kept the lower beasts inline.

They also actively fled from the advancing war front so beast tides only happened in the far east.

He had seen a massive increase in destruction as even Star Tier beasts could be involved. They were more malicious as the intelligent beasts were using the beast tides to weaken human or demon forces for conquering.

The first layer of the Celestial Fields still lacked sufficient beast population to have a tide so seeing what happened to the ruins of Kun City floored him.

Teegan was next to him as they observed what had been a rebuilding city was turned into a clearing in less than a day.

He saw boars the size of hotels roaring as they used their tusks to smash metal and stone like paper before them. Deer with antlers that towered at least 10 meters into the sky destroyed any object like it was made of tempered steel.

He saw various birds and other beasts all moving together south. It was truly like a wave that swept all signs of civilization away like water on the beach.

He thought it would be shorter but it swept by them and was already moving on. The Golden Vermillion Inn was safe as planned but now there was little more than piles of stone and blood all around them.

The people tried to flee yet they were too slow.

"They were bad people, so why do I feel bad?" Teegan whispered but he put a hand on top of her bowed head.

"It means you are learning. You are not dead inside. We can hate enemies but watching a massacre should not bring you joy." She had had to mature facing the hellscape her home had become.

The stories of the rescued people painted a stark picture but Lind had faced far worse. Fiend farms were much more terrifying compared to slavers. It might be hard to grasp but slavery still retained the hope of life.

Fiends held a fate far worse than death over their 'crops.'

"Are the people ok in the caverns?" Her next question made him smile wider at her.

"They are doing fine. The facilities are not for human use but we have made do with what we can." Both felt the rumbling of the ground and turned to see beasts being crushed to death but those that were now overtaking them.

The crushing deaths were not intentional, the beasts were just running that hard from what came behind them.

"The beast tide is horrible." Teegan was a dragon, a beast said to stand above all others, but her unique existence allowed her more sympathy than normal.

Lind was both happy and sad to learn that. He had to tell her the bitter truth.

"This is only the precursor to the true Immortal Beast Tide to come. These were the ones that could flee, but the others are being pushed in a direction intentionally." As if his words were prophetic, a new wave of beasts barreled to the west of the city ruins.

Teegan looked coldly that way and any pity she felt vanished. All that was left in that sect were vile beings. The more she had heard from the rescued prisoners, the less sympathy she could spare them.

The beasts now charging in the distance were a variety from foxes to lizards, but all were massive in size. They were all Immortals!

The previous group was a range of Soul Realm to Heaven Realm but a handful of Immortals had been leading some of them.

They were all panicked and unfocused, yet the current group was different. No other being was trampled as they closed in on the Law Binding around the former Eternal Blossom Sect.

Dragon eyes were some of the best in the world. Unlike Immortals that needed to use Qi or Arts to enhance their vision, dragons had eyesight that could see clear details down to even a mouse in a forest floor!

Thus, the mere distance of a day between them and the sect was nothing.

The Law Binding lit up like a sun and held strong against the various beast attacks. Still, the sheer power left Teegan in awe. The fact Kun City could resist that since long before the Corruption told her how much power was taken for granted.

Her own Law Bindings of her home impressed her but she now appreciated the need for a deep foundation.

The support of any formation or Law Binding was only as good as the organization behind it. Further, cultivators themselves were needed as those things could not withstand the chaos of war.

"I was trapped in a Law Binding in the Heaven Realm lands. It was part of a plot that took millions of years to pull off. In that place it was nearly invulnerable as Immortals can only scrape their way to the Sliver Tier. Such power down there is but one aspect of great powers up here." Lind spoke of his past and Teegan grew a new appreciation for the world they lived in.

Their power was invincible to lower realms but there were plenty of Immortals in the Celestial Fields. The farther up one moved, the more common they became.

A Sliver Tier was an unbeatable God in the Heaven Realm lands but in just the 2nd layer of the Celestial Fields, they were one of many.

She saw as Immortal beasts weakened the Law Binding until it began to crack! Both of them turned their heads north as a new disturbance came.

"The true beast tide is here." She spoke and he nodded. A massive pack of wolves slipped through the destruction left behind by the other beasts. They were silent but their size was easily close to a small family house!

Their fur was strange too as she felt like she was looking at the night sky come alive! The blue eyes glowed to her vision and felt like moons piercing her soul.

There were hundreds of them and they were all Immortals!

She knew many clans had fallen but she recalled all the stories of the days before the Corruption. She was told how there were stretches of the wilds that teemed with life unlike the present.

Only seeing such a clan now did she truly appreciate the power of a full clan of beasts.

"How were they ever driven away?" Her question was valid but Lind smiled ruefully.

"Beasts do not always grasp the trickery of humans and demons. A direct battle is not the only way to win. If you are to lead, it is best to always assume your enemy has a trick. You may not be able to predict it, but do not underestimate a weaker opponent on strength alone." She slowly nodded.

He knew their lessons were bearing fruit but the current one would leave a deep impression on her more than any other.

The beasts' power was unquestioned, yet they had been driven out of their ancestral lands and kept out for over 50 million years.

The Law Binding was about to shatter when Lind finally had seen enough.

"It is time. Are you ready?" His words seemed to shake her but she took a deep breath and nodded at him. He took her hand and they stepped back into the world.

Both began to shimmer and their shapes changed. Lind grew to just over 9 kilometers in size as his emerald scales shone under the sunlight. His emerald eyes grew gigantic as 3 horns protruded from his skull. His mane flew on the air currents as he floated in the sky with some difficulty.

Now that he was in dragon form, it was less straining but the small dragon on his back stood out. Amber scales were like jewels as her wings spread wide before she could flap into the air.

Unlike Lind, she could fly physically for a time but she was only an eighth of his size. Still, she flew out and both roared.

The tide slowed down and froze. All the lizards knelt down or bowed as they could to the 2 overlords of their races. The others also felt fear in their hearts as one of the dragons was a Crystal Tier!

The pair of them circled the damaged Law Binding and then landed on the ground. What took a carriage to cover in a day was done in a few moments of their flying. Now the pair looked at the Starhide Wolves.

They waited for the leaders to come forth. It was time for understanding to be reached.
