Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1001 - 1000 - Flitting Shadows

Chapter 1001 - 1000 - Flitting Shadows

The ruins of Kun City no longer smoldered but at night many fires sprang up for the various groups working to rebuild the city to be used in the future. The majority of people in the city were warriors rather than construction but their leaders were not in the mood to care.

The faster they could establish themselves, the better.

It would be a few months before a few teams arrived that could speed up the process but now more issues had sprung up.

The slaves they had been planning to sell were all gone! The shadows seemed deeper than usual at night but the men were on guard as the weavers were at work.

Now that they knew their enemy had a weaver on their side, they had to act against him.

Lind looked on from above where none could sense him. He was not using weaving to hide but simply an illusion formation plate from Annabelle. It was a risk but not at the height he was floating at.

He had limited time but had used a few of the ruins to get up high before flying a bit more out of their range.

His raid with the other Immortals from the inn had been massively successful with only 1 kill needed.

The Sliver Tier guard around another weaver had been necessary to pull off the raid with his peak skill.

He wove silence, distorted space, and made an aura cancelation field so all the people could be swiftly moved into the Golden Vermillion Inn.

It had taken all his Qi to pull it off and several dozen elixirs on top of it. The Golden Vermillion Inn had massive capacity he had never imagined. Aside from the opulent suites, it had massive space for kitchens, storing resources, and general support staff that easily surpassed the remaining population of the city.

A city once easily surpassing 40 million was now reduced to just 1.

He watched the weaving they performed and actually found inspiration. Vile as they were, they were still experts. He also sneered at their pathetic attempts to circumvent the Corruption and bottlenecks like a half-Fiend, half-Soulmancer.

They were failing miserably.

They could achieve some results but his Eyes could see they were damaging their souls.

There was 1 exception to that issue. The Eternal Flame Sect Master. Delenn called him several choice names but Lind began to suspect the man had intentionally watered down the techniques for others.

The closest comparison he had seen was Shi. She had been taught a far better technique compared to other Soulmancers.

He could not be sure but the man clearly had learned a perfected technique and adapted it for others to always be dependent on him.

Lind narrowed his eyes as he saw some shadows move unnaturally. He let his Qi flow and his sight pierced the moving shadows.

He saw beasts. They were not simple creatures either as they seemed able to hop from one shadow to the next. He tried to identify them but they seemed part snake and part insect.

They had reptilian bodies but their heads had the multifaceted eyes of an insect. The wings were also like gossamer but the final thing was instead of fangs, the tail had a stinger on it.

The smooth movement was very much like the snake. They slithered and merged with shadows before appearing in another.

[Senior Tsunade, we seem to have new guests.] He reached out to his host but she could not respond to him. He did relay what he saw and would confirm with her on his return.

His purpose tonight was to bring fear.

The Shandor Syndicate held the city ruins but the Eternal Flame Sect was mingled with them. The former Eternal Blossom Sect had been taken over and still held a lot of innocent cultivators.

He could not pierce that security so easily.

He flew over to the main camp and frowned as he found 3 Immortals. There were 2 Shard Tiers and a Crystal Tier.

They were not being foolish or indolent either, but clearly planning out their next moves. He hated competent enemies the most.

He scanned the tents and rebuilt structures. Formations and traps were clear as day but the true threat were the new weavings.

They were on par with his own!

"If you think I will hold off, you are gravely mistaken." Space was ripped apart but he tossed a black bar into it before it sealed up.

He then counted down from 10.

As he reached 0, the tents lit up like the sun. A thunderclap followed as the ground shook like 10,000 tons slammed into it. The cloud rose into the sky but Lind was already resting on a broken tower.

It withstood the blast perfectly and he saw the majority of the camp was the same. He had simply released a direct explosion. It had little effect on the buildings but on the people was a vastly different matter.

While a lot of science was alien to cultivators, shockwaves were well understood. What was not so well understood was intensity from a small device.

In other words, the defenses were focused more on exterior attacks rather than internal ones.

As the energy settled, he looked at the grim damage to nearly 50,000 cultivators. They were not dead but many were crippled. The device was essentially a Qi bomb.

It not only created an explosion but a shock wave of Qi at the peak of the current Law Grade he could produce.

The fact almost all the buildings still stood kind of shocked him but the people were much more in line with his hopes.

Of all the victims, the Immortals came out the best.

The 2 Shard Tiers lost limbs but were already recovering. The Crystal Tier was covered in wounds but also was doing fairly well.

He had never tried it on Immortals for obvious reasons and his harmonic Qi was devastating to Fiends so it was a good benchmark to use in the future.

"Time to strike." Three more tears opened and three daggers dove into them. He watched as they reacted to the attack that time. He praised their response but the 3 were shocked as the daggers sliced through their weapons like a hot knife through butter.

Lind controlled the daggers but they were also spirit weapons. It was the only way to have them resist the Corruption for any useful length of time. The 3 Immortals were doing their best but the Corruption actually became his ally.

The tallest one was the Crystal Tier and should have been able to easily conjure Qi to surpass Lind. His close cropped blonde hair was covered in soot and sweat as blood began to fly.

The dagger was made of dark metal that absorbed aura like a sponge. It made it hard to detect but also could weaken the enemy without striking them!

The other 2 were doing far worse. Shard Tiers were barely able to summon Immortal Qi level strength.

Lind was draining his own Qi, however, to keep controlling his weapons against them.

The first to fall was the crimson haired Shard Tier with broad shoulders. He was well muscled and seemed like a body cultivator but he realized that the man simply had a strong body.

The short daggers sliced him up like bread. His limbs went flying as the other 2 became more desperate. If not for the Corruption, the soul of the first Immortal could have become a headache for Lind, but the tainted Qi sealed their fate.

From the time the explosion had been set off to the Crystal Tier being dismembered to death, only a handful of breaths had passed.

LInd was covered in sweat but smiled as he retrieved the daggers. He set up the formation plates and waited.

It only took a few more moments for his enemy to come looking for answers.

Lind watched as 3 more Crystal Tier Immortals came tearing over at speed while others followed later to find many of their number crippled or severely wounded. It was not until they found the main tent that the 3 dead Immortals were found.

He smiled as they screamed at their weavers and generally tried to blame others. They could not understand because it had been too long since they had to think in terms of all 3 dimensions for a threat.

He stayed where he was and watched as the sun rose to reveal the chaos he had unleashed. They were tearing apart the ruins to try and find him but only looking below or in somewhat more intact structures they did not currently occupy.

He waited until night fell and calm returned before tearing through space back to the inn. He could not bite off more than he could chew. He also found there were more Immortals than Tsunade and the others had told him.

The world shifted but just as he was about to close the tear, he saw the man he had been looking for!

His robes of living flame were vibrant but his black eyes drew the most attention. It was the first time he saw him without the aid of his Immortal Eyes.

The man was handsome but felt wrong just looking at him. Lind narrowed his eyes but took no chances and slipped away. He had taken enough risks to achieve his goals for one night.

There would be more nights to come.
