Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Alexander found himself seated on the patio of his house, basking in the warm morning sun.

As he absent-mindedly scrolled through his phone, his thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a call from his father, George.

"Hey, Dad," he greeted, his voice a blend of anticipation and concern.

"Alexander, can you come to Clark's right away?" George asked urgently.

Alexander's brows furrowed in surprise. "Of course, Dad. Is something wrong?"

"No, they've just uncovered another lead on Red Saint, one that is sure to result in his capture this time."

A surge of hope flooded Alexander's heart upon hearing his father's words.

Renewed by the prospect of justice, Alexander responded with a resolute tone, "I'm on my way," and hung up the phone.

The arduous path he had trodden for so long now felt purposeful and invigorating.

As Alexander stepped into the headquarters of Jim Carrey Bureau of Investigation Agency.

A private investigating company, headed by a former deputy director for investigations at CIA, retired DDI Clark Jim Carrey, he pushed open the glass doors and found himself immersed in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

The atmosphere crackled with urgency.

The office space was meticulously designed, blending practicality with professionalism.

The walls were adorned with expansive whiteboards, adorned with intricate diagrams, timelines, and photographs of individuals who were subjects of investigation.

Rows of desks stretched across the room, each occupied by diligent investigators engrossed in their work.

Some were deeply engrossed in analyzing case files, making phone calls, or sifting through data on their computer screens.

Collaborative clusters of investigators huddled together, exchanging leads and insights, while others meticulously organized stacks of documents and evidence with utmost precision.

The bustling office buzzed with the symphony of ringing phones, typing keyboards, and intermittent murmurs of conversations.

As Alexander maneuvered through the dedicated professionals immersed in their tasks, his gaze settled on Clark's office situated at the far end of the space, an unmistakable nerve center of the operation.

The office's glass walls offered a glimpse into the hub of activity, revealing Clark himself, along with the silhouettes of his father, George, Violet, Charles, and his grandmother, Harriet, engaged in a discussion.

With a mix of anticipation and nervous energy, Alexander briskly made his way toward Clark's office.

His heart raced as he gently knocked on the glass doors, prompting everyone inside to pause their conversation and direct their attention toward him.

"...Good morning everyone." He said.

"Alexander, you're here. We've been waiting for you," Harriet greeted him with a warm smile, inviting him to enter the room.

Returning the smile, Alexander nodded and scanned the faces of everyone present.

"So, what's the latest development?" he inquired, his voice tinged with curiosity and eagerness.

Violet, positioned at a corner, was the next to speak after Harriet.

"You'll want to take a seat so he can begin explaining," she suggested, gesturing towards the chairs encircling the expansive table.

Alexander nodded and pulled out a chair, taking his place. "Alright, then."

Clark, standing at the head of the room, stepped forward to address the assembled group as each member of the family settled into their respective seats.

"As you all know, it's been about six months now since the last time we gathered here, and I informed you that my team and I were tracing the payment made to Red Saint a few months ago."

He paused, his gaze shifting across the room, capturing the attention of everyone present.

"Well, I'm delighted to share that we've had a significant breakthrough."

"We successfully traced the payment to an offshore account held by a woman named Megan Hayes."

He gestured towards the screen before them, displaying an image of an elegant middle-aged woman.

As their eyes narrowed in scrutiny, Violet voiced the thought that lingered in their minds, "Isn't she the woman rumored to have had an affair with Uncle Rey?"

Her question hung in the air, directed at no one in particular, but her gaze fixated on Harriet, whose brow furrowed with unmistakable disgust.

Despite Sophia and Clarissa's attempts to shield Harriet from the news, she eventually learned of it.

Although displeased with Clarissa and Reynold's decision to pursue a divorce, Harriet had chosen to let them make their own choices.

However, now that she discovered that the woman who had a part to play in ruining her daughter's marriage was also connected to their arch-nemesis, Red Saint, she knew she couldn't stay uninvolved this time.

"Please continue, Clark." Harriet beckoned, her voice steady and determined.

Clark straightened his posture, moving towards the screen and tapping on it, causing the display to transform into a complex network diagram.

"Well, based on our discovery of their connection, I had surveillance placed on her, and we were able to uncover how she works."

"...Megan Hayes is a professional social climber who leads a transient lifestyle, residing in hotels."

"Her sole occupation revolves around ingratiating herself into the lives of affluent and vulnerable men, gaining their trust, and then exploiting them financially."

Charles, who had remained relatively quiet alongside George, furrowed his eyebrows as he spoke, his arms crossed firmly over his chest.

"So, if Red Saint and this woman have some kind of financial connection, does it mean that she was intentionally placed in Uncle Reynold's life?"

Clark nodded in acknowledgment of Charles' question.

"That's one of the possibilities we are exploring. Considering Megan Hayes' pattern of targeting wealthy individuals, it is highly likely that her involvement with Mr. Becknard was not a mere coincidence."

Alexander lost in his thoughts, sat still in his chair.

His mind raced to process the information presented.

He finally spoke, his voice filled with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty, "So, what is the conclusion we can draw from all of this?"

Clark took a moment to gather his thoughts before responding to Alexander's question.

"Earlier, I mentioned that we had our team monitor her activities, we also managed to intercept and record one of her phone conversations."

"Let me play it for you." Clark pressed a button on a device that was placed on the table, and the room filled with the sound of a recorded conversation.

The voice on the recording belonged to Megan, who began speaking in an exasperated tone, "Hello... can you please stop calling me and just let me do my work in peace?!" She yelled.

A few seconds of silence hung heavy in the room as the chilling, gruff voice of a male figure pierced the air.

"You had one job, Miss Hayes... to ensure Reynold Becknard finalized his divorce with his wife, and you failed," he taunted, his malicious tone sending shivers down their spines.

Megan's voice resurfaced, this time a little calmer.

"Please, Mr. Red Saint... you gave me until the end of the year, and it's not yet the end of the year."

"Just have a little patience, and I promise you..." But her words were abruptly interrupted.

"Meet me at Woodcreek Dusk No. 21 by nightfall, sharp at 10 PM... I have other assignments for you," he commanded, before abruptly ending the call.

"Hello..." Megan's voice trailed off, and Clarke turned off the recording, his gaze falling on Alexander.

The room was filled with a mix of anticipation and apprehension as they absorbed the weight of the conversation.

"We have already made plans with the SWAT team, and at the mentioned time, they will be conducting a raid on the location specified by Red Saint," Clark announced with a determined tone.

"This is our best opportunity to apprehend him and put an end to his criminal activities once and for all," he concluded, as the others exchanged glances, a blend of relief and cautious hope reflecting in their eyes.
