Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 75

Chapter 75

Two weeks had passed since the unfortunate incident of Camilla's fall down the stairs.

While her physical recovery was progressing well, she still had a considerable distance to cover emotionally.

On a peaceful morning, the sun's gentle rays streamed delicately into Camilla's hospital room, casting a comforting glow upon her as she sat on the bed, her attention fixed on the window.

Lost in her thoughts, her mind wandered amidst the rays of light, seeking solace.

In that tranquil moment, the door to her ward swung open, prompting Camilla to turn her head.

There stood Violet, peering curiously into the room, wearing a puzzled expression on her face.

"Please, come in," Camilla weakly uttered, offering a slight smile as she welcomed Violet into the room.

Reluctantly, Violet stepped inside, her gaze wandering as if searching for something misplaced.

Sensing the oddity in her behavior, Camilla inquired, "Is there something wrong?"

Her observation prompted Violet to finally face her, shaking her head. "No... I..." Violet trailed off, appearing somewhat uneasy.

Letting out a sigh and moistening her lips, Violet mustered the courage to speak further.

"Clara and Isabel asked me to meet them here so we could visit you together, but..." She faltered, glancing around and shrugging her shoulders.

Camilla nodded, understanding the situation.

"Ah, I see. You're a bit late. They left about an hour ago. I wonder why they didn't mention your coming?" she remarked.

Violet let out a short, awkward laugh, her hands fidgeting in her pockets as she shifted uneasily.

"Believe me, I was wondering the same thing. They didn't even call to inform me that they had already left," she shared, attempting a smile that failed to reach her eyes.

"But since I'm already here, how are you doing?" she asked, and Camilla responded with a slight shrug of her right shoulder.

"Better... I suppose," she responded, momentarily averting her gaze from Violet.

She glanced down at the sheets for a brief moment before meeting Violet's eyes again.

"I hate being here... but fortunately, the doctors are already discussing my discharge, and soon I'll be able to go home," she said, a smile gracing her lips as she relayed the news to Violet, who stared back at her with a blend of genuine pity and concern in her eyes.

"And then what?" Violet inquired, her gaze intense and unwavering, causing Camilla to let out a sigh and shift her focus back to her lap.

Her fingers began to nervously pick at the loose threads on the edge of her blanket.

"Well..." She began, taking a deep breath.

"I don't know. After this, I suppose I'll continue my recovery at home," she replied, her tone reflecting a mixture of hope and uncertainty.

"And I might dabble in my work from time to time until I fully regain my strength," she added, nodding as if trying to convince herself.

Violet narrowed her eyes, staring at Camilla with a bewildered expression, overcome by a blend of disbelief, disappointment, and a hint of underlying anger.

"That's it?" she questioned, her voice conveying a mixture of emotions, causing Camilla to raise an inquisitive gaze.

"Yes, that's it... Why do you ask?" Camilla responded, her face reflecting her confusion.

Violet observed her for a moment, her expression softening as she carefully chose her words.

"Never mind... I suppose I was wrong about you."

Camilla's eyes widened in surprise, her confusion deepening.

"What do you mean, Violet?"

Violet took a deep breath, locking eyes with Camilla as she spoke.

"I can't believe you're just going to brush aside what happened with your baby as a mere accident..."

Camilla's brows furrowed, a mixture of emotions crossing her face.

"It was an accident," she said, her voice cracking under the weight of guilt.

"It was dark, I missed a step, and... fell down the stairs."

A few seconds slipped by as they both locked eyes, the tension hanging heavy between them.

Then, Violet let out a humorless chuckle, filled with bitterness, the sound fading into a somber expression.

Shaking her head, she displayed a mix of sadness and compassion in her eyes.

"Did Alexander tell you that?" she questioned, but Camilla stared back, her eyes narrowed in confusion.

Leaning in slightly, Violet's voice lowered. "Well, let me share a little secret... he is a liar. Every single one of them is a liar."

Camilla's eyebrows furrowed. "They are your family. Why would you say that about them... and why are you telling me this?"

Violet took a deep breath, her gaze unwavering as she met Camilla's eyes.

"Because even though I don't like you Camilla, we share a similar pain. I, too, lost a child because of Red Saint."

Camilla's mouth fell open in shock as she stared at Violet.

"That name... How did you..." Her words trailed off, her brow furrowing as she regarded Violet closely. Then she whispered, "You were there that night."

Violet shook her head, moving over to sit beside Camilla on the bed.

"No, Camilla, I wasn't. But the man who did this to you... the man who took your child away from you, his name is Red Saint," she replied firmly, looking at her with a serious expression.

"You're lying..." Camilla whispered, even though Violet's words aligned with her fragmented memory of that fateful night, clouded by the narrative Alexander had planted in her mind.

Camilla's trembling hands, and Violet held her tighter offering her unwavering support.

"I understand how hard it is to accept, but deep down, you know it's the truth."

"Regardless of Alexander or the rest of my family choosing to hide it from you, you deserve to know the truth."

"Red Saint is the reason behind your child's death.

"He is a dangerous man, a psycho."

Camilla's eyes welled up with tears, her heart pounding in her chest.

"And I don't believe he will stop at just taking your baby away," Violet continued, her voice filled with determination to expose the truth to Camilla.

Camilla seemed lost, her gaze drifting away as tears streamed down her face. Violet gently shook her, trying to bring her attention back.

"Camilla, listen to me... You can't stay married to my cousin."

"You will only become more entangled in the darkness of our lives," Violet urged, her hands squeezing Camilla's with empathy.

"You deserve happiness and safety. Remaining with Alexander will only bring you more pain and danger."

Violet pressed on, her voice resolute. "You need to file for a divorce and distance yourself as much as possible, at least for a while, to ensure your safety."

Camilla's mind spun with Violet's revelations, tears streaming down her face as she stared at her.

Her voice barely above a whisper, she choked out the words, "Get out..."

Violet's eyes widened in surprise at Camilla's sudden demand but she sensed it was the overwhelming emotions gripping her, and knew she couldn't be deterred.

She knew that speaking the truth, no matter how difficult, was essential for Camilla's well-being.

"Camilla, please, try to understand," Violet pleaded, her voice tinged with deep concern.

Camilla's hands quivered within Violet's firm grip, her mind reeling to comprehend the overwhelming information laid before her.

A conflicting turmoil raged within her, torn between discarding Violet's claims as mere fabrications and clinging desperately to the familiar illusion Alexander had carefully crafted for her.

Yet, buried within her being, a tiny ember of uncertainty flickered to life, and the gravity of the truth slowly seeped into her consciousness.

"Please, just let me be," Camilla pleaded, her voice trembling with a tumultuous blend of trepidation and anguish. "I don't want to hear any more of this."

Violet's expression softened, and she gently released Camilla's hands, giving her the space she seemed to need.

"I understand this is a lot to take in, but please..." she began, only to be interrupted by Camilla.

"I told you to leave," Camilla affirmed, her voice growing louder and filled with finality.

Just then, the door swung open, revealing Alexander entering the room, his face a mix of concern and surprise.

"What's happening here?" he inquired, his eyes darting between Camilla and Violet.

Sighing, Violet turned towards him, forcing a smile.

"It's nothing... I was just leaving," she said, casting one last lingering look at Camilla before slowly rising from the bed and making her way to the door.

Before exiting, she glanced back at Camilla one final time.

"Take care, Camilla, and please consider what I said."

Violet's departure left Camilla feeling torn and overwhelmed.

She watched as Alexander approached her afterward, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"What was that all about? And why are you crying?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

Camilla's mind raced as she struggled to articulate the complex whirlwind of emotions engulfing her.

"I... I don't know," she stammered, her voice trembling.

Alexander sat beside her on the bed, gently reaching out to hold her hand, offering a reassuring touch. "It's okay..."

Her gaze then shifted towards Alexander, uncertainty clouding her eyes.

She longed to believe his comforting words, to find solace in his presence, yet a seed of doubt had taken root in her mind.

"That night," she finally mustered, her voice barely audible. "My fall... it wasn't an accident, was it?" Her gaze locked onto Alexander's face, his brow furrowing in response.

"Camilla..." he began, attempting to dissuade her from delving into that night, but she persisted, her voice quivering with a mixture of fear and determination.

"Who is Red Saint Alexander?" she demanded, her eyes searching his face for the truth, while he met her gaze with a fleeting glimmer of unease.
