Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 73

Chapter 73

Camilla lay motionless on the hospital bed, her complexion pale but serenely peaceful.

Her body was healing, slowly recuperating from the traumatic ordeal of the fall and the subsequent cesarean surgery she had undergone.

Her head was wrapped in a bandage, and her left hand sought solace within the confines of a protective cast, serving as evidence of the fractures she had gotten from the unfortunate incident.

The room was suffused with the gentle hum of medical machinery, its soothing presence intermingling with the soft hiss of oxygen as it flowed through the delicate nasal cannula placed in her nostrils, offering the vital respiratory support she required.

In the background, a faint voice from the television echoed, as a news reporter reported on the day's events.

However, those words were overshadowed by Alessia's anguished sobs, as she sat by Camilla's bedside.

Known for her deep sensitivity, especially when it came to her beloved daughter, Alessia was overwhelmed by emotions.

Tears streamed down her face, while her trembling hands tenderly held onto Camilla's, caressing and kissing it gently.

"I'm so sorry, my love... I'm so sorry that you had to go through this... but please wake up now... I can't bear to see you like this," Alessia whispered through her tears, her voice filled with sorrow.

Having experienced the heartache of two previous miscarriages and the complications surrounding Camilla's birth, she understood the profound loss her daughter would face upon regaining consciousness and learning about the tragic loss of her unborn child due to the accident.

Overwhelmed by the weight of her knowledge, Alessia's grief deepened, but it also fueled her determination to be a source of strength for Camilla during the challenging days ahead.

While gently caressing Camilla's hand and quietly sobbing, the door to the hospital ward swung open, unveiling the doctor's arrival alongside Alexander and Fernando.

In response, she hastily wiped away her tears and redirected her gaze toward the newcomers.

"Mrs. Kings," the doctor greeted Alessia, taking in her disheveled appearance and red-rimmed eyes.

Concerned for her well-being, she gently suggested, "For the sake of your own health, I believe it would be best if you allowed someone else to take your position for a while... You need to rest."

But Alessia shook her head in response, her voice filled with determination.

"No... please I'm fine, I want to stay with her." She replied, taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm her nerves.

Her gaze then shifted from Camilla and then back to the doctor, her worry evident in her eyes.

"It's been two days now, and she's yet to wake up, isn't there something you can do?" she asked, her voice filled with desperation.

Observing the scene, the doctor extended a reassuring smile, acknowledging Alessia's apprehension.

"I understand your concerns, ma'am," she expressed, pausing momentarily to exchange glances with Fernando and Alexander, who mirrored the same questioning expression.

"But it's not uncommon for patients with severe head injuries to remain unconscious for an extended period."

"Your daughter has been through a traumatic experience, and her body needs time to heal."

"While we can't predict the exact moment she will wake up, I assure you that she will regain consciousness eventually." The doctor explained.

A sense of relief washed over Alessia as the doctor acknowledged her concerns.

She exchanged a glance with Alexander and Fernando, sharing a small smile of reassurance with them.

However, their fleeting moment of solace was shattered abruptly by a sudden surge in volume from the television, causing their gazes to swiftly shift towards the TV screen, where an image of Camilla appeared on the side.

"...and in a tragic twist of fate, it has been confirmed that the unborn child of renowned Italian fashion designer Camilla Kings Cena, unfortunately, did not survive the accident."

"The family now confronts the heart-wrenching loss of the baby, further compounding the already devastating circumstances surrounding Camilla's current condition," the reporter solemnly remarked.

Following that, the scene seamlessly transitioned to footage of Camilla being transported on a hospital gurney, surrounded by a flurry of doctors and nurses.

"What the hell is this?" Alexander seethed, his anger evident, as he turned to the doctor.

"I thought this was supposed to be a private matter," his voice resonated with anger and frustration.

"How did this get leaked to the media?"

The doctor, visibly taken aback by both the unexpected news and Alexander's tone, paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts before responding.

"I apologize, Mr. Cena, but our hospital follows strict protocols to safeguard patient privacy, and I assure you that we are not responsible for this breach," she responded calmly.

Alexander fixed a penetrating gaze on the doctor, his eyes narrowing.

"And if I were to uncover evidence that your hospital indeed breached patient confidentiality and leaked this information to the media?" Alexander challenged, his voice filled with a resolute determination.

The doctor swallowed audibly, her expression shifting to one of apprehension as she detected a dark intensity in Alexander's eyes.

"I will immediately inform our hospital's administration to initiate a thorough investigation and identify the source of the leak," she replied, her voice tinged with concern.

"Please excuse me," she added hurriedly, exiting the room.

As she left, an uneasy silence settled among the trio, leaving Alessia and Fernando glancing at Alexander with a blend of admiration and astonishment.

Having witnessed his unwavering protectiveness toward their daughter on previous occasions, they were nonetheless taken aback to see it displayed so openly, accompanied by an intense and resolute determination that only served to deepen their appreciation for him.

Alexander then turned back to both parents, the anger in his eyes subsiding a little.

"I'm sorry about that... I was just..." His voice trailed off, his frustration evident as he struggled to find the right words to convey his emotions.

"It's alright... you don't need to explain yourself. Everyone is on edge right now and your anger is completely understandable." Fernando reassured him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder and Alexander nodded.

He took a deep breath, making an effort to regain his composure before speaking again. "Thank you, sir. It's just..." However, his words were abruptly cut off by the ringing of his phone.

"Sorry, please excuse me." He said as he quickly reached for his phone and answered the call, stepping out of the ward to have some privacy.

"Hello," he greeted, and Isabel's voice came through.

"Have you seen the news?" she asked, concern evident in her tone and Alexander let out a tired sigh.

"Yes, I just saw it now. I was just about to contact some of our private investigators to identify who leaked it to the media," he replied, exhaustion evident in his voice as he ran a hand through his hair wearily.

Isabel audibly sighed, her voice tinged with worry.

"Well, that's not our only problem now. The press has caught wind of it too. They're camped outside the hospital, trying to get a statement."

Alexander's frustration grew as he listened to Isabel's words.

The last thing he wanted was to deal with the press during such a tough time.

"Damn it," he muttered quietly.

He immediately ended the call and walked back into the room, his face determined but burdened by the mounting pressure.

Alessia and Fernando looked at him with concern, sensing something was wrong.

"What's the problem?" Fernando asked.

"The press found out about what's going on. They're outside the hospital, trying to get a statement," Alexander informed them, his voice filled with frustration.

Alessia's eyes widened with worry, and she instinctively placed a hand over her chest.

"But it's okay, you don't need to worry about anything," Alexander responded, his tone filled with assurance.

"I'll speak to the hospital administration and we'll find a way on how to handle the situation."

"In the meantime, it would be wise for us to avoid direct contact with the media," he advised, glancing at Alessia and Fernando, who both nodded in agreement.

He stepped out of the ward again, and just as his phone rang once more, he groaned and answered it.

"What is it, Isabel?" he said, his anticipation tinged with unease, expecting to hear her voice.

Instead, a malevolent voice oozed through, its sinister undertones sending a shiver down his spine.

"Hello, Alexander... I was wondering if you liked the gift I gave to your dear wife?"

Alexander's heart raced as he recognized the voice on the other end of the line.

"You... you despicable bastard," he muttered through gritted teeth, his fingers clenching the phone tightly, a maelstrom of fury coursing through his veins.

"It was you...You're responsible for all of this," he accused, his voice filled with venom as the realization sank in.

The voice on the other end chuckled darkly.

"Oh, come on. She never wanted that baby anyway... I did her a favor by helping her get rid of it."

A surge of coldness shot through Alexander's veins, and he gritted his teeth in frustration.

"I swear, I'll make you pay for this," he muttered, his voice a mix of anger and desperation.

The mysterious voice let out another chilling laugh.

"Well...not until I make you suffer and witness the destruction of everything you hold dear."

"Be a dear and send my regards to Camilla, because this is only the beginning..." the voice added ominously before abruptly hanging up, leaving Alexander seething with a mixture of rage and.
