As Alexander returned to his hotel suite that fateful night, a whirlwind of emotions consumed him. He sat on the edge of the bed, his thoughts in disarray.
How was he going to rescue Camilla?
How would he even begin to break the devastating news of her disappearance to her parents?
His hands instinctively rose to his hair, ruffling it in frustration, and he hung his head low in despair.
Amidst the tears glistening in his beautiful blue eyes, he noticed a purple, sparkling device on the floor. His mind raced as he realized it was Camilla's phone.
Slowly, Alexander reached out and picked up the device, a face-down iPhone. He turned it over to reveal the blank screen.
With a soft double-tap, the phone came to life, prompting him for a passcode.
Without hesitation, he input the code, granting access to the phone's contents. What he saw on the interface not only shocked him but sent chills down his spine.
"Alexander, it's urgent. You need to know that Charles is Red Saint. He's behind everything. Meet me at the hotel ASAP. I'll explain everything," the message read, and for a few seconds, he froze, the weight of the revelation sinking in.
The shock of Camilla's message and the revelation about Charles being Red Saint left Alexander trembling with disbelief.
Dropping the phone, he couldn't fathom what he had just uncovered.
It was inconceivable that his own cousin, someone he had grown up with, was responsible for all the torment and suffering his family had endured, not to mention the loss of his own child.
Anger surged through Alexander, and without wasting another moment, he snatched a pen and a book from the bedside drawer.
Ripping a sheet of paper from the book, he scribbled down some urgent notes as quickly as he could.
Finished with his hastily written message, he grabbed his jacket and hurried out of the hotel room, determined to take action.
As Alexander got into his car, he started the engine and sped out of the hotel parking lot. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.
How could he not have known?
Memories flashed through his mind, particularly the time he had left the hospital with Charles and Isabel.
Charles had behaved strangely, bombarding him with questions about Camilla and then abruptly zoning out when he inquired about their aunt's husband, Reynold.
He slammed his hand against the steering wheel in frustration, seething with anger, not just at Charles but at himself.
How could he have been so careless, especially given how cautious he had always been?
With one hand on the steering wheel, Alexander retrieved his phone from the console and double-tapped it to wake it up.
"Call Isabel," he instructed the device, his tone firm.
The phone rang for a few moments before she answered, "Alexan..." but he didn't let her finish her sentence, interrupting her.
"Isabel, can we meet, please... I need to talk to someone urgently," he pleaded, intentionally adopting a tone of desperation that caught Isabel's attention.
"Where are you?" She asked, skipping any further questions and sensing the urgency in his voice.
"14th Avenue... Ghost Town," he replied before hanging up the call. Placing his phone back in the console, he stared ahead, his thoughts racing.
With the revelation that Charles was the Red Saint, as Camilla's message had stated, Alexander knew he needed to carefully devise a plan to bring him to justice for his wrongdoings.
Thirty minutes later, he found himself walking along a deserted and dimly lit street.
He had left his car and phone far behind, choosing to proceed cautiously. As he continued his brisk walk, a flashlight ahead suddenly flashed in his direction.
It was Isabel, and fear tugged at her heart as she approached. She couldn't understand why her brother had requested that they meet in such a desolate and dark place like this.
The eerie surroundings of Ghost Town lived up to its name, sending a shiver down Isabel's spine as she spotted a figure approaching.
"Alexander?... Is that you?" she called out, using her phone's flashlight to illuminate the area.
"Put the light away... Are you trying to get me blind?" Alexander's response came swiftly as he shielded his eyes with his arm.
Relieved to see her brother, Isabel rushed toward him and enveloped him in a hug.
However, instead of returning the hug, Alexander deftly and swiftly removed her phone from her hand and smashed it onto the hard asphalt ground.
The shattering noise jolted Isabel back from her brother, and she watched in dismay as her phone lay in pieces on the ground.
Anger flared in her eyes as she confronted her elder brother, demanding answers.
"What the hell has gotten into you? Why would you do that?" she questioned, but Alexander merely stepped on the shattered device, further crushing it, much to her dismay.
"Stop! What are you doing?" she yelled, pushing him away. She crouched down to gather the shattered pieces of her phone, only for Alexander to suddenly and forcefully pull her back up.
"Let it be... it's safer that way," he urged, and Isabel's anger momentarily gave way to confusion at his cryptic words.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her brows furrowing in puzzlement and Alexander looked around uneasily, as if they were being watched.
"We are bugged..." Alexander whispered urgently, "Every device, everything tech on us is used to trace our location and monitor our conversations."
He had quickly realized this after the revelation that Charles was the Red Saint.
He knew Charles was a skilled tech person, so he had to assume the worst.
Isabel stared at him in disbelief, her brows furrowing. "What are you saying?... What do you mean?"
Alexander sighed and grabbed Isabel's shoulder. "Listen, we don't have much time for me to explain," he urged.
Releasing her, he reached into his pocket and retrieved the paper he had scribbled on earlier, then handed it to her.
"Here... I need you to give this to Grandma tonight without fail," Alexander instructed urgently.
"Make sure she's alone when you give it to her, and make sure it's in a section of the house with no surveillance cameras."
Isabel continued to stare at him with confusion, looking at the neatly folded paper in his hand. "What's in it?" she questioned, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Alexander impatiently stamped his foot on the ground. "Just take the damn thing already," he urged.
Reluctantly, Isabel accepted the paper from Alexander's hands, her concern growing. He was acting so out of character, and she couldn't help but worry.
"What's going on, Alex?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine concern. Alexander sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his frustration evident.
"I can't explain everything right now, but just know that Charles is not who he appears to be."
"He's been orchestrating all the chaos in our family, and we need to put a stop to him," Alexander explained, his words laden with urgency.
Isabel's eyes widened in shock, struggling to fully comprehend what her brother was saying.
Charles, their own cousin, the person they had grown up with, was responsible for all the pain and suffering their family had endured.
"That's... no... That's not possible?" Isabel stammered, her mind racing. "You mean Charles is..." She trailed off, and Alexander nodded.
"Oh my God!" Isabel blurted out.
Before she could react further, Alexander quickly covered her mouth, fearing that their conversation might be overheard.
"Keep your voice down," Alexander cautioned in a hushed tone, and Isabel nodded in understanding before he released her.
"How did you find out?" She inquired.
Alexander stared at her for a moment before replying, "Camilla... she left me a clue just before that bastard took her from the hotel." His words were laced with anger and bitterness, causing Isabel to furrow her brows in concern.
"Camilla is in Los Angeles?... I thought you two were..." Isabel began, but Alexander interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.
"Look, Isabel, there's no time for these questions... Just make sure you give this letter to Grandma," he urged.
Despite her lingering questions, Isabel knew that the situation was urgent, so she nodded and pocketed the paper, ready to carry out her brother's instructions.
"I promise I will," Isabel assured him, her determination evident. Alexander managed a tense smile, grateful for her support.
"Good... but be careful," he emphasized, his tone firm and serious.
"If what I have planned goes well, then we might just be able to rescue both Camilla and Uncle Rey and also bring down Red Saint once and for all this time."
