Chapter 100
Chapter 100
"Such beautiful girls," Camilla finally spoke, breaking through Edward's deep thoughts.
"Yeah," he said, clearing his throat and gesturing for her to take a seat.
"So, what do you want to eat?" he asked, and Camilla shrugged playfully.
"I don't know, I didn't plan on having dinner at a restaurant," she said with a grin, and Edward chuckled.
"Alright then, I guess I'll have to order for both of us," he said, signaling a waiter who approached the table with a friendly smile and confident stride.
"Bonsoir, mademoiselle et monsieur, (Good evening, miss and sir)" the young man greeted them, his charming Parisian accent adding an extra touch of elegance to his words, "My name is Pierre, how can I help you tonight?"
Edward, feeling a surge of confidence, responded in fluent French, surprising both Camilla and the waiter.
"Bonsoir, Pierre. Pour la charmante dame assise à la table et moi-même, je voudrais commencer par une Salade Niçoise. (Good evening, Pierre. For the lovely lady seated at the table and myself, I would like to start with a Salad Niçoise)."
"Comme plat principal, je choisirais le filet de bœuf avec une sauce au poivre, et nous aimerions également deux bouteilles de Bordeaux. (For our main course, I would choose the beef tenderloin with a pepper sauce, and we would also like two bottles of Bordeaux.)"
Camilla's brow arched in surprise as she observed Edward effortlessly conversing with the waiter in French.
After Edward finished placing the order and the waiter left to fulfill it, he turned to Camilla, who couldn't hide her awe and amusement.
"I didn't know you knew French," she remarked with a hint of curiosity in her voice.
Edward smiled, his eyes filled with pride and a hint of modesty. "Well, I'm quite multilingual," he replied.
Camilla looked intrigued. "Oh wow. I'm only fluent in Italian, English, and Spanish," she shared.
Edward chuckled softly. "Well, that's also impressive. But I happen to be fluent in four other languages besides Italian, English, and French... and hopefully, I can learn more in the future," he expressed, genuine curiosity for the world shining through his gaze.
Camilla was blown away, her eyes widening with admiration. "That's incredible," she said, clearly impressed. "You truly have a gift for languages."
Edward's smile grew wider, his heart warmed by Camilla's genuine interest.
"Thank you," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I've always been fascinated by languages, and I believe they help us connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds."
Camilla nodded, a newfound sense of admiration for Edward blooming within her. "That's a beautiful perspective."
After their orders arrived and they finished their meal, they continued their conversation, touching on topics ranging from music and art to their childhood memories and dreams for the future.
At one point, Camilla even playfully teased Edward about his music, asking him to sing a snippet of one of his popular songs. "Come on...You can sing a little low."
Edward hesitated for a moment, but then, encouraged by Camilla's infectious enthusiasm, he gave in and sang a few lines in a quiet voice.
"In the shadows of my heart, you linger there,
A love unspoken, a silent prayer.
A distant crush, I can't deny,
These feelings are hidden, but they won't die.
Ohhhh, dear crush....my secret flame,
In my heart, you hold a treasured name,
How I wish I dared to say what's inside,
But these words remain locked, a love I can't confide.
I watch you from afar, a dream I can't touch,
A bittersweet longing that I can't discuss.
I dream of moments we could share,
But you're a star, too distant to make you mine.
Ohhhh, dear crush....my secret flame,
In my heart, you hold a treasured name,
How I wish I dared to say what's inside,
But these words remain locked, a love I can't confide.
So, here I stand, my love concealed,
A song unsung, but in my heart forever revealed.
In the echoes of this song, you'll find me there,
A love unspoken, forever a prayer."
Camilla was taken aback by the beauty of his voice, and as the song concluded, she applauded with a warm smile.
"Wow... that was a very touching love song... What was behind the inspiration?" She asked.
Blushing slightly, Edward replied, "I wrote it back in high school...for a girl, I had this massive crush on but never had the guts to tell her."
"Oh, really?" Camilla asked, curious. "How sad." She said, genuinely sympathetic for him.
Edward chuckled softly, "Yeah, looking back, it does seem a bit sad. I was quite shy back then, and expressing my feelings was a challenge for me, especially when the girl in question happened to be a real beauty. Intelligent, bold, independent, a little sassy, and also had influential parents."
"So, I turned to music as a way to convey what I couldn't put into words. I never even expected the song to become such a hit when I finally released it,"
Camilla sipped on her wine, fully engaged in his story. "Wow, sounds like you still have some feelings for her," she teased with a smirk.
Edward averted his eyes, a light blush creeping onto his cheeks and neck. "Ugh..." he groaned playfully.
Camilla laughed at his reaction, and he couldn't help but join in, sharing the laughter with her.
"Well...to be honest, I did try to get over her by getting into different relationships, but none of those girls made me feel what she made me feel. So, I just stopped dating entirely," he admitted sheepishly, his gaze now fixed on his plate.
Camilla's curiosity grew, and she couldn't resist asking, "Do I know her?"
Edward hesitated for a moment, then mustered the courage to look up and meet Camilla's gaze with a touch of vulnerability in his eyes. "She's sitting right in front of me now," he replied softly.
Camilla's eyes widened, and her heart skipped a beat. She hadn't anticipated that response and the realization hit her with a wave of surprise and warmth.
"Me?" she whispered, her breath catching in her throat.
Edward nodded, maintaining an unwavering gaze, yet Camilla remained unconvinced.
She glanced over her shoulder, half-expecting to find another lady seated behind, or wondering if Edward was merely joking.
"Camilla," Edward called, brushing her hand gently, causing her to turn back to him.
A whirlwind of emotions surged within her, and for the first time in such a situation, she felt unsure about how to respond.
"You're serious?" she asked, her voice a mixture of surprise and uncertainty.
Edward nodded again, his eyes filled with sincerity. "Absolutely serious," he replied.
After a few awkward moments of silence, she mustered the courage to speak, her voice barely audible, "You...you wrote that song for me?"
Edward nodded once more, his eyes brimming with sincerity as he openly confessed, "Every word of it."
