Chapter 988 - 1027: Can It Really Be Hidden?
Mr. Kang is still working as the butler for the Kinston Family and is exceptionally enthusiastic when he sees Mabel Quinn.
At night, Mabel Quinn couldn’t fall asleep, and when she walked out of the bedroom, she saw Mr. Kang standing lost in thought in front of the old Mr. Kinston’s portrait.
"Mr. Kang," Mabel Quinn approached and said.
Mr. Kang snapped back to reality, "Miss Quinn, why aren’t you asleep yet? You have to get up early for the wedding photo shoot tomorrow."
"I couldn’t sleep, so I came out to take a walk," Mabel Quinn said. "Mr. Kang, why aren’t you sleeping either?"
"Seeing you back with the young master, I found it a bit hard to fall asleep," Mr. Kang replied. "Just thinking that the Kinston Family has now only the young master left, Miss Quinn... please don’t leave him, don’t be like his mother who left his father, otherwise, I’m afraid the Kinston Family will truly come to an end."
Mabel Quinn said, "Then Mr. Kang, you must also know that Kyle’s mother’s fiancé didn’t actually die?" After all, Kyle recently returned to Falling City, presumably to ask Mr. Kang about this matter.
Indeed, Mr. Kang nodded, "I know, that day the young master suddenly rushed back to Falling City and asked me to identify someone. I saw that person’s photo and was really shocked, I never expected that person to actually still be alive!"
Mabel Quinn keenly sensed something, "’Actually still alive’? Mr. Kang, did you originally suspect that this person might still be alive?"
Mr. Kang’s expression suddenly became somewhat unnatural, "This..."
"Mr. Kang, could you please tell me? What exactly happened? Actually, I’ve found it a bit strange too. Could that person’s false death really fool Kyle’s father? After all, it’s said that a rather grand funeral was held at the time, but if there wasn’t a body, how could Kyle’s mother have been misled into thinking that person was really dead?" Mabel Quinn asked. Some questions had been in her mind for a long time, but she didn’t know who to ask for clarification.
"It’s all in the past now; there’s no need to mention these things anymore," Mr. Kang said.
"But it hasn’t passed!" Mabel Quinn said anxiously. "The hatred in Kyle’s heart is still there, and that fiancé... is my good friend’s father. So I really want to know what the truth is!"
Mr. Kang sighed, "I don’t know if the old master knew about this. During the funeral, no one saw the body because the Hospital’s morgue suddenly caught fire. Although the fire was extinguished and no casualties occurred, the bodies were burned beyond recognition. Back then, the old master ordered the body to be cremated in advance, fearing the lady would be heartbroken upon seeing it. So when the lady knew about it, all she saw was an urn. Maybe because of this, she misunderstood, thinking the old master wouldn’t even let her see him one last time. I only found it strange because the old master was in a hurry to handle the bodies."
"So, it’s also possible that Kyle’s father knew the fiancé didn’t die?" Mabel Quinn said.
Before Mr. Kang could answer, another voice spoke up, "Alright, that’s enough about this matter. From now on, no one is to speak of it again in this house."
Mabel Quinn turned and saw Kyle Kinston standing close by, expressionless as he spoke.
She was startled, wondering how much of the conversation he had overheard.
