Chapter 987 - 1026: The Imminent Reality of Marriage
If she’s not, then let all of it just be his mistaken assumption. He will continue to treat her well as a cherished niece. After all, this child bears a resemblance to Clover, and is the child Asher protected with his life. Both emotionally and logically, he would treat her well.
Mabel Quinn finished cleaning the kitchen and saw Edward Quinn lost in thought. She asked, "Uncle, what’s wrong?"
"Ah, it’s nothing..." Edward Quinn replied, "I just remembered there’s something I need to take care of. I won’t be staying for dinner. I’ll be going now."
Edward Quinn said this and left in a hurry, leaving Mabel Quinn alone, feeling perplexed. She felt that her uncle seemed a bit odd today.
When she finished preparing dinner, Kyle Kinston came over. He glanced at the teacup on the coffee table that hadn’t been cleared away and asked, "Did someone come by?"
"Yes, my uncle was here. He said we’d have dinner together, but he left for something urgent." She replied, "Wait a moment, I’ll bring the dishes to the table."
As she was about to head into the kitchen, Kyle Kinston suddenly grabbed her hand and said, "How did you get hurt?" His brow furrowed, his eyes fixated on her bandaged index finger.
"I accidentally broke a bowl earlier and cut my finger while picking up the pieces." She explained.
His thin lips tightened, "Don’t get hurt so easily again, does it still hurt?"
"It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore." She said, seeing his worried expression, as if he was the one injured. She knew that it was because he cared about her.
If it weren’t for Alice’s situation, she would probably be happily preparing for the wedding with him now.
"You sit down, I’ll bring out the dishes." Kyle Kinston said, then went into the kitchen himself, bringing out the dishes Mabel Quinn had prepared one by one.
During dinner, Kyle Kinston said, "If there’s anything left to pack here, I’ll help you sort it out. I’ll take some of your things to the mansion, and this weekend, make some time to go back with me to Falling City. We only took our wedding photos in J City, we haven’t taken them in Falling City yet. This time, we’ll get that part done, and the wedding dresses you chose before have been made and are kept in Falling City. You can try them on when we go, see if any alterations are needed."
"Oh, okay." She responded, realizing once again that they were actually getting married soon.
"Not happy?" he asked, looking at her.
"No," she forced a smile, "Being able to marry you and become your wife, I’m very happy, really." Indeed, she was willing to marry him. If it hadn’t been for that unexpected breakup before, she and he should have been married already.
But her heart still kept circling around Alice, around the matters of the Conley Family, which were a heavy burden for her.
On Friday night, Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston took a flight to Falling City.
The Kinston mansion in Falling City was still as grand and towering as ever. Somehow, upon returning to this mansion, Mabel Quinn felt a mix of awe and nostalgia.
Although she only stayed at the Kinston mansion for a few days back then, it left a deep impression, especially the ancestral hall behind the mansion, which was particularly striking for her.
