Chapter 453 - 183 An Unknown Side_3
Gao Yuyue gave a thumbs up.
"A person of few words but a ruthless nature—way too cool."
Liu Runxi looked at Shen You’an with an expression that was calm yet softly luminous, his gaze gentle and bright.
Gu Bichen seemed to be examining Shen You’an as though meeting her for the first time, scrutinizing her carefully.
Shen You’an stood cloaked entirely in darkness, her whole presence blending into the mystery and subtlety of the long night, like the hue she wore.
The impression he had of her, as his deskmate, was of someone who rarely spoke—sometimes not uttering a single sentence in an entire day. Despite them facing each other daily, the words exchanged between them could be counted on one hand.
For the first time, he was seeing another side of Shen You’an.
She was unlike the shy, timid stereotype of a typical schoolgirl. Instead, she resembled an unparalleled sword concealed in its scabbard—restrained yet deadly sharp, striking invisibly the moment drawn.
Among thousands upon thousands of women in the world, she was the most unique—mysterious and intriguing, making others long to lift the veil and uncover the brilliance hidden behind the lens.
A man screamed like a pig being slaughtered, drawing curious stares from those nearby. Gao Yuyue grinned and waved them off casually, saying, "Just friends messing around, nothing to see here, folks."
Most passersby hurried by, glancing briefly before turning back to their paths.
"You... you’re doomed! Brother Chen won’t let you guys off the hook!" the man threatened through gritted teeth, his face twisted in pain.
Shen You’an loosened her grip and said calmly, "All right. I’ll be right here, waiting for him."
Clutching his broken finger, the man’s face contorted further.
Gao Yuyue yawned. "Time is precious, dear. I’ll give you all five minutes tops; once the clock runs out, I’m out."
The man sneered coldly. "Running your mouth now, huh? Enjoy it while it lasts."
Right at the five-minute mark, a group of people swaggered over.
Leading them was a muscular man with a cigarette dangling from his lips. He looked down on everyone, sizing people up through his nostrils and said, "Qiangzi, so it’s these five wimps messing with you? Do we really need Brother Chen for this? Biaozi alone can take care of it."
A tall man covered in tattoos stepped forward, his face twisted in a menacing grin. He cracked his knuckles loud enough to punctuate the tension; the vibes were certainly on point.
Liu Runxi instinctively stepped in front of Shen You’an, exchanging a glance with Gu Bichen.
Gu Bichen said firmly, "You three, stay back."
Gao Yuyue glanced between him and Liu Runxi before asking skeptically, "You two... gonna be okay?"
It wasn’t that she doubted them—it’s just that these two looked like feeble chickens, while the other guy seemed capable of knocking out four of them with a single punch.
Yan Lu pulled Gao Yuyue back and whispered softly, "Don’t underestimate them."
Within noble upbringing, self-defense training is emphasized heavily; it’s likely both of them were rigorously trained in combat from a young age, equipped with skills to rescue themselves in dangerous situations.
She didn’t know much about Gu Bichen, but as for her desk partner? Though he appeared silent and unassuming, his physique was undeniably impressive—a hint that he might be secretly lifting weights every night.
These gangsters were probably all bark and no bite.
The tattooed man laughed coldly. "Playing with fire."
With that, he squared his stance.
Liu Runxi slowly shrugged off his jacket, just about to toss it when a slender, elegant hand reached out and took it, draping the jacket over an arm.
Liu Runxi froze momentarily, then a tender smile appeared at the corners of his lips.
"Be careful. Don’t let yourself get hurt," a soft voice warned gently.
The boy’s gaze gleamed like rippling spring water as he replied, "Since that day, I swore I would never let harm come to you again. I meant it."
Shen You’an stood silently, watching him.
The tattooed man scoffed impatiently, "You two are flirting in front of me like I don’t exist, huh?"
Gao Yuyue, Yan Lu, and Gu Bichen simultaneously turned to look at Shen You’an and Liu Runxi. The first two wore gossip-filled expressions, while the latter’s gaze was more complex.
Liu Runxi coughed lightly into his hand and turned away, calmly saying, "What does it have to do with you?"
Gao Yuyue exchanged a knowing look with Yan Lu.
Oh, he didn’t deny it—there was definitely something going on!
The tattooed man snorted. "Enough chatter. Take this!"
With that, he swung a massive, ferocious punch directly at Liu Runxi’s face. The sheer strength behind the blow made it seem like he could take down a tiger.
The boy stood tall and refined, his posture as graceful as a sturdy pine tree, exuding the demeanor of a gentleman as gentle as jade. Even as the whirlwind of the powerful punch closed in, his expression remained unchanged, his composure awe-inspiring in its serenity.
As the fist neared his handsome visage, Yan Lu couldn’t help but nervously cry out, "Careful...!"
Liu Runxi shifted deftly to evade, then swiftly turned and reached out to grab the back of the tattooed man’s collar. He executed a precise move, striking the man’s lower half with calculated accuracy. Almost instantly, the hulking figure—nearly twice his size—was toppled, crashing unceremoniously to the ground.
The tattooed man lay there, stunned and speechless.
Gao Yuyue clapped her hands, unable to resist praising, "Impressive!"
Today was well worth the trouble—every one of these overachieving students had revealed a hidden and surprising side of themselves.
With one foot pressed against the man’s back, Liu Runxi turned his head and said coolly, "Who else?"
