Chapter 74: Troublesome News

Chapter 74: Troublesome News

They stepped through the portal and appeared right in front of Lilian.

"What is this bitch doing here?" Sofia snapped the moment she saw her.

Lilian was about to retaliate, but Orion stepped between them.

"Come on, let’s not do this now. We only have a couple of hours before we need to go back," he said, looking at both of them.

"Hmph." Lilian pouted and looked the other way.

Orion sighed. "By the way, where should we go now?"

"Why don’t we go to the park near the lake?" Sofia suggested.

"Oh? There’s a lake?"

"Uh-huh." She began leading them toward it.

Soon, they reached their destination.

Orion took in the view—the night lights reflecting over the vast lake, the cool breeze brushing against his skin. And having two beautiful women beside him only heightened the feeling.

"So, now can you tell me? What was that portal? And how were you able to teleport us?" Sofia asked. She had been holding back her excitement for far too long.

"Well, just as you guessed, that was a teleportation portal..." Orion began, then proceeded to tell Sofia everything.

Her eyes widened little by little every time he spoke, while Lilian giggled at her reaction.

Although Sofia didn’t react the same way Lilian had when he mentioned his goal of breaking the Demon Queen’s seal—

After all, she was kind of a demon herself.

"Wait... does this mean me being a succubus is connected to you?" Sofia asked.

Orion instantly looked at her, then slowly turned toward Lilian.

Lilian had gone silent.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" she shouted. "No, no, there’s no fucking way." She turned to Orion. "Why does everything with you have to be so complicated?"

Instead of answering her, Orion looked at Sofia. "Now, why would you say that in front of her?"

"Oops... I thought you already told her about me." She glanced at Lilian. "Maybe he didn’t trust you enough to share this little secret." A wide grin spread across her face.

Orion’s eyes widened as he finally understood what she had done.

"You are a spiteful woman," he said with a chuckle. He understood she didn’t actually mind Lilian knowing about it. As much as the two of them hated each other, they both knew they couldn’t keep secrets like this anymore. After all, they were now sharing the same man.

Lilian, however, was not amused. "You demon bitch... you’re dead."

Sofia only laughed, clearly enjoying herself.

And just like that, they began another fierce catfight.

"Wait, wait, stop... people are looking at us!" Orion tried to intervene.

But his words fell on deaf ears.

They continued for a while, pulling significant amounts of hair from each other’s heads and scratching wherever they could reach, until they finally stopped from exhaustion.

Now they sat on a bench, both on opposite sides of Orion.

He sighed again. "I know you two can’t be friends. But think about my mental health here. Can’t you at least stay civilized around each other?"

"Nope."

"Absolutely not."

Orion let out a deep breath.

"Anyway... is it true that she’s a succubus?" Lilian asked.

"Yes, it’s true. But she’s only half succubus." He paused. "Is that going to be a problem for you?"

"Not really," Lilian replied casually. "It’s not her fault she was born that way." She paused. "And I believe she only found out about this after meeting you."

Orion blinked. "How do you know?"

"Well, how else would she find out? Being half-demon means they can go their entire lives without ever realizing it. Something has to trigger that dormant side of her for it to truly awaken. And you being you... The rest is easy to predict."

"Umu." Sofia nodded. "She’s right, you know. You are quite a freak of nature."

"So anyway," Sofia suddenly brightened, "how far have you progressed? In your goal so far."

"Well, I’m just laying some groundwork right now. Increasing my strength, getting involved in business..." He continued explaining everything he had been doing.

"I can’t believe it," Sofia said, clearly impressed. "You’ve done far more than I expected. And to think you’ve already made quite a few recruits. By the way, I know Esteban is my brother and all, but can we fully trust him?"

Orion nodded. "I think so."

He showed them the subordinate panel in his system, and in the process revealed some of its other functions to Sofia as well.

"Wow... is there anything this thing can’t do?" Lilian muttered. At this point, she was losing the ability to even be surprised by Orion’s antics.

"Oh, right!" Sofia suddenly slapped her forehead. "I totally forgot to tell you something important."

Orion’s eyes narrowed. "What is it?"

"Well, today when I was coming back from school, a strange lady in a veil approached me and said she knew my secrets." She paused and looked at Orion. "Do you think she meant my succubus heritage?" Her expression turned fearful.

Lilian’s eyes narrowed. "A veiled lady?"

But Orion was already seething.

"To think she’s targeting you now..." His aura grew oppressive. "That bitch is playing with fire." He gripped the backrest of the bench so hard it cracked.

"Wait, you know her?" Sofia asked.

"Yes. She’s part of the New World Order organization." He paused and stared at Sofia. "And she’s also a succubus."

"Huh?"

"What?" Lilian shouted. "You’re telling me the Madam is a succubus? And she approached you?"

"Yes... That’s about it."

Lilian stepped closer to him, her expression serious. "Listen to me. You have to be very careful from now on. Getting the Madam’s attention never ends well. She’s not just dangerous—she’s eccentric too."

"Wait, wait... things are getting too serious for me," Sofia said. "Can you explain slowly?"

Orion then told them about his meeting with the Madam—Sabria.

"Oh, I can’t believe this," Lilian said, genuinely shocked. "You need to keep your dragon’s pride in check from now on, okay? The stunt you pulled could easily get you killed."

"Anyway, we can think about this troublesome matter later... let’s just enjoy the night for now," Lilian added, clearly exhausted from all the information. Her brain could only take so much.

The rest of the night passed relatively peacefully. Without realizing it, Lilian and Sofia began getting along little by little, now sharing common ground—their mutual disbelief at Orion’s freakish abilities and absurd background.

After escorting Sofia home, Orion and Lilian returned to the fortress. Since it was already midnight, they went straight to their rooms and fell asleep.

The next morning, everything seemed normal. After getting ready, Orion and Lilian headed downstairs, where they ran into Rachel.

"Oh, you’re already awake. Good. Could you two come with me for a bit?" she said. Orion noticed her grim expression.

’Something definitely happened,’ he thought as they followed her into a room on the second floor.

Evelyn, Josephine, and Revo were already seated at a long table.

"What happened?" Lilian asked, her eyes narrowing as she took a seat. Orion sat beside her.

"Listen carefully. What I’m about to tell you is extremely confidential—and alarming. You understand?" Evelyn said.

Everyone nodded, confusion written across their faces.

Evelyn folded her hands in front of her mouth, her expression deadly serious.

"We believe ’that person’ has already made their move. Someone just entered the Dungeon of Justice." She paused. "And it wasn’t any hero candidate."

Silence fell over the room.

"What? You mean it’s already started?" Josephine shouted.

"Oh God... up until now I thought the prophecy wouldn’t happen. Now that it is—oh God..." She broke down.

Rachel quickly moved to comfort her. "Calm down. Just calm down for a bit. We’ll figure something out, okay?"

’What? What’s happening? I thought I was the tagged person...’ Orion thought. Things just got more complicated for him.

"Wait. How can we be sure it’s that person?" Lilian asked. "Couldn’t it be another hero candidate? I mean... they can be eccentric."

She side-glanced at Orion, hoping for some kind of answer, but he looked just as bewildered as everyone else.

That was when she truly understood the gravity of the situation. She had assumed Orion was the person from the prophecy—and a part of her had even hoped that was the case. If it were him, then at least she wouldn’t have to fear the unknown.

But now things had become far more troublesome.

’Wait... if that person breaks the Demon Queen’s seal... does that mean Orion won’t have to?’ she thought, glancing at Orion again.

Orion understood what she was thinking and shook his head in disapproval. It wasn’t that simple.

"No. We checked," Evelyn answered shortly. "It wasn’t any hero candidates. It was undoubtedly ’that person.’

Revo, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. "So what’s our move?" He swallowed nervously.

"Josephine and Revo, you will continue exploring our dungeon. We’ve called the adventurers—they’ll arrive tomorrow. We need to speed things up. We’re running out of time." Then she turned to Orion and Lilian.

"And you two... we’d like to send you to that dungeon."

She paused.

"What do you say? If you don’t want to, we’ll understand. No pressure."

Before Lilian could respond, Orion spoke.

"We accept."
