Chapter 1257: Here to Bring My Wife and Daughter Home
But even if Joseph acted as if he were simply inviting July Quinn for a meal, July directly pointed the gun at his forehead."Release my mom, and everything is negotiable."
Her voice was even colder than her gaze.
Yet facing eyes so similar yet entirely different from Laura Quinn’s, Joseph smirked, "Do you think if I let your mom go, you would still negotiate with me?"
"Even if you say you would, I wouldn’t believe it." Joseph reached out and pushed away the gun pointed at his forehead by July.
Though July was full of murderous intent, ultimately the gun was pushed away by Joseph.
It wasn’t that July was physically weaker than Joseph; it was because she saw the bomb strapped to her mother.
She didn’t dare to take the risk, so she could only stall with Joseph.
"Alright, don’t be nervous. I just want to talk about funding issues," Joseph said.
Susan Carter rolled her eyes dramatically at Joseph’s words.
Only a child would believe such nonsense.
Yet July really did take a seat at the dining table.
Even Laura Quinn was taken aback, "July, I will handle the funding issue with him. You go home first; I’ll be back soon."
Joseph excelled in biological experiments, mostly developing poisons.
So the meal he prepared for July surely had hidden intents.
July was pregnant, and eating something like this was unthinkable.
July was about to respond to Laura Quinn, but the restaurant door was pushed open once again.
A man with a head full of silver hair stood against the light.
Yes, it was Richard Donovan.
He had also hurried over.
But he wasn’t alone.
Beside him stood another person, Johnson, the official captain of the Desrozin City Vanguard War General team.
"Johnson?" Joseph quickly shifted his gaze to the silver-haired man.
Indeed, Joseph had investigated July Quinn’s biological father, Richard Donovan, and had seen photos of the man in his former presidential glory.
So he couldn’t immediately connect the silver-haired man to the man in those photos.
Until he saw Johnson, and the official Vanguard War General team that had almost surrounded the restaurant outside.
Yes, during the time Richard was president, he and Johnson had a good relationship.
So in many of the photos Joseph investigated, showing the man’s activities in Desrozin City, Johnson and he appeared together.
Seeing both men appear together in front of him, Joseph finally recalled the man’s identity.
Meanwhile, Laura Quinn continued to stare at the man standing against the light.
He was as tall as he was in his youth.
Despite his silver hair, he was still handsome.
And though he hadn’t been by her side all these years, his appearance in her moment of peril gave her a strong sense of safety.
More reliable than her daughter arriving with a mercenary group.
Maybe it was because of this that the tears she could barely hold back in front of her daughter now filled her eyes.
Seeing Laura Quinn’s tears as she met his gaze, Richard felt as if an invisible hand gripped his heart.
He thought of how Laura had been living in such constant fear and realized why she resented him.
Living every day in a treacherous and dangerous environment, he’d resent the person responsible too.
If only he had awakened sooner and rescued her, she wouldn’t have gradually lost hope in such an environment.
But regrets were pointless now; what he failed to do before, he could make up for today.
Even if it cost him his life, he was determined to safely bring Laura and July back.
Perhaps displeased by the look exchanged between him and Laura, Joseph coldly asked, "Are you Richard Donovan?"
"Yes, it’s me. I’m here to take my wife and daughter home." Richard cut straight to the point.
