Chapter 1256: July Arrives
Chapter 1256: July Arrives
"No one else could do it quite like you." Laura Quinn took a sip of red wine, smiling lightly at Joseph. The mocking smile clearly teased Joseph’s self-satisfaction.
Joseph indeed had a knack for endurance.
But no other man would be so obsessed as to keep a woman who doesn’t like him locked up for a lifetime, just hoping she would grow to love him and marry him.
However, Laura Quinn only said half of her thoughts; she didn’t directly say the words that could really provoke Joseph.
She is a smart woman, knowing how to choose her battles.
Right now, she wants to live, return home to make a beef hot pot for her daughter and Richard Donovan, and watch her little grandson safely come into this world. Naturally, she cannot afford to rip apart with this shameless old fellow Joseph.
"Besides, what we were discussing was merely wine. There’s no need to elevate the conversation to judging people."
She smiled breezily, making Joseph grit his teeth in anger.
Because again, he interpreted Laura Quinn’s words as she deemed him unworthy to judge anyone, not even worthy to be called a human.
But what can he do!
Laura Quinn had been speaking such seemingly polite yet intensely disparaging words to him for nearly a lifetime.
He hadn’t managed to do anything against her before; is it too late to do anything now?
At that moment, the restaurant’s door was kicked open.
The group from the Alpha Mercenary Corps that had previously swept through the new Marsden Castle’s guard force rushed in swiftly.
Every one of them was armed, some even had blood on them, but clearly, it wasn’t theirs.
They immediately surrounded the dining table upon entering the restaurant.
The old butler attempted to speak, but Susan Carter shot him dead.
Witnessing the old butler getting shot in the heart and falling to the ground, Joseph appeared somewhat surprised.
He hadn’t expected that July Quinn would be so ruthless, not even sparing the butler.
What he didn’t know was, in July Quinn’s eyes, Laura Quinn had been delayed for so many years, and this kidnapping was partly owing to the butler.
If only he had offered a word of guidance, Joseph might not have continued down the wrong path so wildly.
But the butler didn’t just fail to persuade him; he had obviously participated in the schemes against July Quinn several times before.
Such a person cannot be kept around; keeping him is bound to be a disaster.
Just like Jennings before.
July Quinn walked in at the back of the group.
Upon entering, her first instinct was to confirm her mother’s well-being, as well as the steak and red wine placed in front of her...
Laura Quinn tried her best to squeeze out a comforting smile to reassure her: "Baby, Mommy’s fine. You go home first, Mommy will handle these things and come back to cook dinner for you."
"Laura, you’re mistaken. I went through all this trouble just to invite your daughter over for dinner."
Joseph smiled wickedly.
After taking Laura Quinn away, he didn’t notify July Quinn, because he knew with July’s abilities, she would soon find out Laura was in his hands.
You see, July Quinn showed up as expected.
Laura Quinn’s expression shifted slightly.
"There’s no need for the grudges of the past generation to carry into the next."
"Laura, I haven’t involved her in our grudge. But she is the Earl, the Earl who schemed to drain all the funds of The Marsden Family!"
Joseph gnashed his teeth.
Yet when he turned to face July Quinn, he smiled.
"Welcome, Earl. I’ve had tomahawk steak and sirloin prepared; which do you prefer? I’ll have someone prepare it, and we can eat as we chat."
