Chapter 372 - 350: Why are you here?
In the shadows, an inconspicuous black car was parked by the roadside. The man inside the car kept his eyes fixed on the woman standing by the road.Dudu stood there for a long while before heading into the building. The man’s gaze followed her, his hand resting on the door handle, wanting to chase after her. But in the end, he could only watch her leave.
Even though he missed her, he didn’t know how to appear before her again. During those accidental encounters at work, they passed each other as strangers.
Perhaps her feelings for him had slowly faded in this marriage. If he disrupted her life now, it would seem too much.
He stayed downstairs all night. The next morning, seeing her come out of the building, he was curious that she had gotten up so early. He noticed she looked unwell and was walking briskly away.
Shen Yiran got out of the car, following her from a distance.
He watched her walk into a nearby convenience store and followed her inside, seeing her head straight for the sanitary pad aisle.
Is it her period? He knew she had issues with menstrual pain, and she loved eating ice cream despite his reminders.
Did she run out of sanitary pads at home?
Such carelessness was indeed like her.
What about that man? It seemed he didn’t come home with her last night. Wouldn’t she call him back for such a thing? She’s out here running around while feeling unwell.
He so wished he could take care of her like he used to when she was in pain. But now he could only watch her suffer from the shadows, unable to help.
While she was paying, he heard the cashier say, "Girl, you look terrible. Are you okay?"
Dudu waved her hand, barely able to speak, took the change from the cashier, and with the bag in her hand, walked back.
Shen Yiran followed her, seeing her enter the community and squat by the roadside, clutching her stomach in discomfort. He frowned, took a step towards her, but ultimately stopped.
She squatted for a while before standing up, but there were already bloodstains on her dark-colored skirt.
Dudu took a couple of steps, her ears ringing, her vision darkening. She fell to one side, landing in the greenbelt, the branches scratching her body.
With her remaining consciousness, she tried to prop herself up, but it was difficult. Her hands also hurt, and she vaguely saw bloodstains on her palms.
As she struggled in the greenbelt, her body suddenly lifted off the ground. She saw a blurry yet familiar face. Regardless of whether it was an illusion, she smiled with satisfaction, murmuring his name, "...Su Bao."
Shen Yiran quickly walked to his car, placing her in the back seat.
She laid there for a while, still frowning, but her consciousness slowly cleared. She sat up, looked outside the window at the scenery, then at him, clearly not believing she would encounter him here; the joy from earlier was gone from her face.
She looked at him, at a loss, even appearing a bit frightened and uneasy. She didn’t say a word. In the eerily quiet atmosphere, the car stopped at the hospital. Shen Yiran got out, walked to the rear door, opened it, and immediately met her gaze, fixing on him steadily.
Shen Yiran swallowed the words on his lips. He silently looked down at her.
"...Why are you here?"
He didn’t answer, just moved aside a bit, signaling her to get out of the car.
Dudu just stared at him, seemingly dazed. Shen Yiran then bent down, lifting her out of the car, and walked towards the hospital.
