Chapter 246 - 224: I Take Care of You During The Day, You Take Care of Me At Night

Chapter 246 - 224: I Take Care of You During The Day, You Take Care of Me At Night

Downstairs, Grandma was chatting and laughing with Shen’s mom. The moment she saw them coming down, she immediately greeted them with a smile, "Miaomiao, why didn’t you sleep a little longer?"Before Gu Qimiao could answer, Shen Yanchen spoke up for her, "I have to go to work, she can’t bear to be apart from me and insisted on getting up with me."

Gu Qimiao: "..."

Seeing the couple so loving, the elders naturally felt happy.

"Come and sit down, let’s have breakfast together, I just made it."

Shen Yanchen held Gu Qimiao as they sat down, and the servant handed them two cups of milk and two sandwiches.

Gu Qimiao picked up the milk and took a sip, trying to hide her awkwardness.

Shen Yanchen, however, was calm and composed. He looked at Shen’s mom and Grandma and said, "There were some things we didn’t tell you when we got married. It was too rushed at the time, and we haven’t had the chance to properly introduce Miaomiao to you."

Gu Qimiao’s hand holding the cup stiffened, and the smile on her face became strained.

Grandma gave Gu Qimiao a sidelong glance and said, "You’re already married, an introduction won’t change anything."

Shen’s mom also smiled and said, "That’s right, we’re all family now. Just bring Miaomiao home more often and we’ll get to know each other. There’s no need to be so formal."

Shen Yanchen smiled, "It’s better to be clear, but it’s just to give you an understanding and won’t change anything."

As if they sensed the deeper meaning in his words, Shen’s mom and Grandma stopped what they were doing and looked at him.

Shen Yanchen introduced like he was reporting a matter of fact, "Gu Qimiao, 23 years old, a national first-class artist. She didn’t have a family before, but now she does. Also, she has a special skill – she doesn’t feel pain." He finished lightly, then turned to examine Gu Qimiao’s face and continued, "She’s also beautiful, so she’s all positives."

Gu Qimiao was a bit embarrassed by his praise and cautiously glanced at Grandma. Grandma seemed to not immediately grasp it, and after a moment of being stunned, she asked Shen Yanchen, "No sense of pain?"

Hearing Grandma catch the key point, Gu Qimiao tightened her grip on the table subconsciously, and the next second a large hand covered hers, enveloping her tightly.

Gu Qimiao was startled for a moment, looked at Shen Yanchen sitting beside her, took a deep breath, and said to Grandma, "...It’s a rare condition, but other than that I’m just like a normal person..."

Grandma frowned and asked, "Why didn’t you say anything when you got married?"

Gu Qimiao pursed her lips, and Shen Yanchen said, "As long as I know, I have always known."

Grandma’s gaze towards Gu Qimiao turned even colder, "Will it affect your lifespan? Will it be passed on to the children?"

"She’s just like any other person, only needing more care, which I can provide," Shen Yanchen said unhurriedly, and with that simple sentence, Gu Qimiao felt incredibly moved.

"Even if our child is like her, I believe they will grow up beautifully just like her."

Grandma frowned, about to say something, but Shen’s mom interjected, "It’s okay, Mom. Look at how healthy and well Miaomiao is living. Miaomiao didn’t even have your care when she was little but grew up fair and clean. When her children are born, we will all take good care of them, so there’s nothing to worry about."

After saying that, Shen’s mom patted Gu Qimiao on the shoulder and said, "Miaomiao, it’s alright. Just let me hold a grandchild sooner. Look at this age, others are already surrounded by grandchildren, I’m quite envious."

Gu Qimiao smiled, but Grandma remained stern. She didn’t say more, but it was clear her opinion of Gu Qimiao had worsened.

Shen Yanchen made her finish the milk and sandwich, said a simple goodbye, and then took Gu Qimiao to leave.

Once the car had driven a distance, Shen Yanchen asked her, "Feeling better now?"

Gu Qimiao withdrew her gaze from outside the window, looked at him, and then back outside the car window, "But it seems like Grandma dislikes me even more now."

"Do you know why?"

Gu Qimiao thought he had some good advice and quickly asked, "Why?"

He chuckled softly, "Because your tummy hasn’t been cooperating. It’s been so long since we got married, and there’s still no news."

Gu Qimiao: "..."

"How about we go to the hospital for a checkup later? Maybe a little tadpole has already made it through."

"You weren’t like this before, not serious at all," she muttered.

"What’s not serious about it?"

Gu Qimiao turned to look outside the window, choosing not to discuss this with him further, or he’d just continue teasing her.

After Fang Shaobei left, Gu Qimiao had been going to the gallery for the time being, considering herself a half-owner.

Shen Yanchen’s car reached the intersection leading to the gallery and was stopped by the red light.

There weren’t many cars around, so Gu Qimiao casually complained, "There wasn’t even a traffic light here when I first arrived."

Shen Yanchen smiled slightly, his gaze falling on the countdown numbers, and asked her, "Do you know why a traffic light was installed here?"

Gu Qimiao muttered, "I also found it strange since there’s not much traffic."

He suddenly said, "Because you were hit by a car here once."

Gu Qimiao paused, thinking back to when she was hit. The green light turned on, and the car started moving again.

She remembered, it was when she first arrived here, the weather was quite cold, and she was in a hurry carrying a painting frame and got hit by his car...

So what did he mean by that? The traffic light was installed afterward, did he arrange for it to be installed? It seemed too extravagant just because she fell at this intersection?

It must be a coincidence, he was surely joking.

Shen Yanchen didn’t claim credit. There were things he did for her that he didn’t need her to know about each one.

The car arrived at the gallery entrance, and he got out to open her door. Gu Qimiao smiled as she got out of the car.

"Be good at work, I’ll pick you up for lunch."

Gu Qimiao nodded, took a step forward, then returned to throw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly and burying her face in his chest, "Husband, thank you."

"Hmm? What did you call me?"

She mumbled, "If you didn’t hear it, never mind."

Shen Yanchen chuckled, raised his arm to hug her, "Thank me for what?"

Gu Qimiao remained silent. Thank him for what? Thank him for saying what he did in front of Grandma’s opposition.

Thank him for being able to find someone with better conditions, but choosing only to marry her.

Thank him for accepting all her flaws and giving her a secure and happy home.

After holding her for a while, he pulled her away slightly, "Alright, I have to go, or I’ll be late."

Gu Qimiao hugged him tighter, joking, "Aren’t you the boss? Being late won’t deduct your salary."

"But the boss has to support his wife, and if the wife is pregnant now, I need to save for milk powder money too."

Gu Qimiao laughed, reluctantly letting go of him, "Then I’ll support you."

Shen Yanchen tapped her hand, "I’ll support you during the day, and you support me at night."

Gu Qimiao rolled her eyes, let go of him, and walked toward the gallery. Shen Yanchen pulled her back for a kiss on the forehead before letting her go.

Watching her enter the gallery, he then drove away.

Gu Qimiao stood by the window on the second floor, watching the tail end of his car, her hand touching her forehead, smiling as she looked down at her belly.

Will there be a baby in here?
