Chapter 2264 - 2265: Covered by Snow
Chapter 2264 - 2265: Covered by Snow
"The Final Purification..."
Agunas looked at Veronia with an inscrutable expression. If it remembered correctly, wasn’t that a secret of the Mitradite?
"Mm-hmm, what I know about the Final Purification is that it expels and purifies all impurities. However, that extreme mechanism was never used in the end. If this is a variant of the Final Purification, then they really cannot let the snow touch anything."
Looking at Veronia, Feng Yuan hesitated, only for the other to smile freely and say,
"There’s nothing that can’t be said. The Final Purification was indeed a weapon researched by us, the Mitradite, but we eventually abandoned it. After all, it was an indiscriminate expulsion and purification of all deemed impure. At that time, not only was the definition controversial..."
Veronia paused, seeing that Feng Yuan didn’t press further, and continued with a disinterested face,
"Even our Mitradite Divine Beings fell within the scope of the Final Purification, for in the eyes of the world, false lies can never deceive."
Everyone laughed awkwardly, with no one responding. Qi Chen didn’t quite understand, and while Feng Yuan and the others did, they were mindful of Veronia’s feelings and said nothing.
"The Final Purification redefined the world rules, leaving only a new world aligned with Mitradite doctrine. Ironically, during the initial experiments, they discovered that if it were truly carried out, the Mitradite Divine Beings would be the first to vanish. Therefore, the Final Purification was abandoned before it was fully completed."
"Perhaps that’s why this thing differs from the Final Purification, given that from start to finish, the Final Purification was never completed."
"This snow should be the tool to exclude those not in accordance with the rules. So, don’t touch those snowflakes lightly, or else I can’t predict what might happen."
Veronia warned them and said nothing more. Though crafted based on that special weapon, Veronia didn’t believe this snow could achieve the original effect.
Otherwise, they would have been in trouble the moment they entered this Snow Domain.
"Expulsion and purification, huh? But what’s with the color change? This should fall under the realm of assimilation, right?"
Feng Yuan stroked his chin, not doubting Veronia, but something still felt off. This fading effect did not seem like purification but rather akin to assimilation.
At least that’s how it appeared to him. Thinking for a moment, Feng Yuan stepped out of the Barrier, reached out his hand, and let the snowflakes fall onto his palm. Though they appeared like snow, these flakes carried no temperature, neither cold nor hot, nor even any weight.
The snow landed on Feng Yuan’s palm, eagerly releasing its strange power. Unfortunately, that power seemed too weak to Feng Yuan.
If it were Qi Chen and the others, they might not withstand it, but for him, that’s not necessarily the case.
Crushing the snowflake forcefully, watching the pure snow disperse into black smoke, Feng Yuan sighed and said,
"Beneath this beautiful exterior, I really don’t know what’s hidden."
Turning to face the others, Feng Yuan said,
"The snow has corrosive power. Agunas, you all protect the others. Qi Chen, stay on the White Wolf Deity’s back. This snow may have assimilative power, but it doesn’t greatly affect Ah Mu and them for now. If anything seems wrong, withdraw them immediately."
The swirling white snow fell, perhaps not effective against Feng Yuan and his group, growing larger as if to erase the discordant elements within the whiteness completely.
Unfortunately, faced with Feng Yuan and the Divine Beasts, the snow’s power wasn’t that strong.
"This thing is indeed abnormal. But given even animals can’t survive, this experiment should be considered a failure, right?"
After walking for a while, with nothing but a vast expanse of snow and stalwart plants amidst the heavy snowfall, Feng Yuan glanced at Veronia, who thought for a moment, then said,
"I don’t think so. After all, the initial purpose of researching that was as a weapon, and using a weapon to transform the environment is obviously impossible."
"Hmm, that’s true. As a weapon, it does measure up."
Surveying the surroundings, Feng Yuan had to agree with Veronia’s words. Given the lifeless state of this Snow Domain, it couldn’t be considered a failure in weapon research.
Even if their strength were lacking, they might not have survived here.
"Should we check other areas? I feel like this place is probably where they experimented, differing from the Monari Forest."
Veronia asked Feng Yuan, always feeling there wasn’t much point in investigating this area, as apart from environmental differences, all the forests were based on the Monari Forest’s evolution.
As for uncovering clues or anything, Veronia didn’t think it likely.
"Not for now. I just feel there’s more to this place than meets the eye, and this Snow Domain has somewhat odd Energy reactions. With such a significant interference, the Energy fluctuation shouldn’t be so minor."
Feng Yuan shook his head and said, unsure of the situation here. Though it was a randomly chosen Parallel World, its internal space seemed peculiar to him.
There were multiple Monari Forests, sure, but the feeling Feng Yuan got from them was as if something was being tested. Yet, if there were tests, why was there no surveillance? Surely they hadn’t abandoned this place?
Not only Feng Yuan, but others also couldn’t fathom what was going on in this area. Different Monari Forests corresponded to different Mythical Era forbidden weapons.
If it weren’t for this place being far from the Reality World, they might worry about the safety of friends and family in the real world.
In silence, they trudged through the blizzard, and just as Veronia readied to persuade once more, a yellow-brown Ancient Tower abruptly emerged into view.
"What’s that?"
Agunas flicked its tail, voicing its curiosity. It sensed an extraordinarily strange power from the tower, which had appeared suddenly as their advance seemed to breach some barrier.
Due to the snow, Agunas and the others maintained a Barrier that could move with the group, and thus when maintaining it, Agunas and the others felt like the Barrier encountered something.
But because that feeling vanished in a flash, it soon quieted, and Agunas paid it no mind.
"That tower is very peculiar; it seems to connect to another space. This thing is not normal."
Gazing at the yellow-brown Ancient Tower, Tamur spoke, while Veronia waved a small hand, and Crystal Luminace Stones circled around the group, forming a loose Barrier. Coldly, he declared,
"Indeed, a world-crossing connection, even if only to a Parallel World, is quite a feat."
"The snow, perhaps a means to protect this place. Maybe by following this tower, we can find those people."
Looking at the yellow-brown Ancient Tower, Feng Yuan spoke with an inscrutable expression. Even without preparation, he had to face those people, for their actions now posed a grave threat to Reality World safety.
Though Feng Yuan wasn’t native to this world, there were things here he needed to protect.
With the Parallel World manifesting, Feng Yuan feared relying solely on Agunas and them might not resolve the event properly.
No other choice, for Parallel Worlds, to the Divine Beasts, approached equal standing or possibly surpassed them regarding Authority. Without Feng Yuan acting, perhaps, only Eclipse and Xilnais could contend.
Yet if they intervened, Feng Yuan feared being blindsided, leaving the Yin World vulnerable to attack, which would be truly troublesome.
In a bind, the Yin World could reset the Reality World and all adhering to it. However, the aftermath was immense, and unless left without options, Feng Yuan wouldn’t resort to it.
"Be careful. This tower isn’t simple,"
he reminded them tersely. Feng Yuan said no more, aware that none present were novices. Even Qi Chen and they had joined him in significant events, lacking in strength perhaps but not in experience...
