Divine Beast Creator

Chapter 2263 - 2264: "Snow

Chapter 2263 - 2264: "Snow

It is unclear whether the petrification is the reason, but the animals in the petrified Monari Forest exhibit high resistance to the oppressive presence of the Divine Beasts. Even when Agunas and the others join forces, these animals fearlessly charge forward.

"Truly bothersome."

Once again shooting the Arrow Rain, Feng Yuan’s face showed helplessness. Due to previous actions, Xiao Ji and the others are now able to deal with the attacking beasts, but considering the vast size of the Monari Forest, Feng Yuan suspects they might end up trapped here if they stay too long.

There’s no choice; Xiao Ji and the others can’t maintain their peak combat state indefinitely. Even if their physical strength remains fine, mental fatigue is unavoidable.

"We must shift to another area immediately, or we’ll be trapped here."

Qiu Hanmo shouted to Feng Yuan, having identified the current problem, although he couldn’t find an appropriate solution for the moment. Charging through might not be much of an issue with their current combat power, but Qiu Hanmo could estimate how long they could maintain this battle capacity.

It’s not that they lose their combat ability after surpassing that duration, but that their actual fighting strength would consistently decline. He didn’t know how close the nearest boundary was, and if it was too far, danger could be lurking.

After all, they are currently deep within the petrified Monari Forest’s depths, making retreat along their original path quite difficult.

"Keep moving forward, about another half an hour."

Feng Yuan glanced at Qiu Hanmo and shouted to the others. He understood Qiu Hanmo’s meaning, as Veronia waved her little hand, unleashing a torrential stream of Glittering Stones that bombarded the incoming animals, blasting them into fragments.

Unfortunately, these animals are continuously forthcoming like monsters in a game. It is unclear whether they’ve attracted all the animals from the entire Monari Forest or if these creatures could respawn like game monsters.

Since these animals leave no corpses upon being hit by an Ultimate Move, instead turning into a heap of stone fragments that rapidly weather and are blown away, Feng Yuan is baffled by their nature.

After gauging the approximate distance, Qiu Hanmo felt a sense of relief. Based on his estimations, their team could maintain peak combat strength for over two hours. That duration should suffice for them to reach the next area, provided it doesn’t entail constant battles as this one does.

Nothing unexpected occurred en route, but to everyone’s surprise, the nearest other side of the Monari Forest turned out to be snow-covered.

"Indeed, it looks very cold at first glance."

Veronia casually pulverized a pursuing creature while saying as she drifted into the vast white expanse, here even the trees adopted a different hue.

White and grey dominated this realm’s primary colors. Although the petrified Monari Forest also largely consisted of rock hues, compared to the seemingly color-wiped Snow Domain, the petrified land appeared much more varicolored.

The pristine leaves bore no trace of impurities; even the sand and gravel here were white or grey.

"This place greatly affects one’s spirit."

Examining the Snow Domain, Qiu Hanmo spoke, behind him, the relentlessly chasing animals halted at the boundary of the color demarcation line. Although there were no tangible walls present, to those beasts, it seemed like an insurmountable chasm.

"For now, we can take a breather. Let’s set up a Barrier for prevention and gather our thoughts; mindlessly running like this isn’t a solution."

Feng Yuan glanced at everyone, motioned with his Sickle, while Agunas and the others took action, conducting comprehensive protection from above and below to prevent sneak attacks during their rest.

Multiple layers of Barriers enveloped them, but having witnessed that massive chimera before, even such a setup brought limited reassurance.

Everyone understood that relying solely on these layered Barriers might not suffice against those entities.

"Even though this is also the Monari Forest, the changes here are exceedingly significant."

Rubbing his chin, Feng Yuan looked at Veronia, who nodded and said

"Indeed, the Monari Forest doesn’t have winter, this change is rather peculiar."

The Monari Forest resembles a tropical rainforest, lacking seasonal alternations. This pertains to the region the Monari Forest resides in as well. Therefore, both Feng Yuan and Agunas, who had some understanding of the general situation in that area, couldn’t fathom the intentions behind conjuring a snow-covered Monari Forest.

If the petrified Monari Forest was an experiment for the undead soldier project, then what kind of experiment could this Snow Domain facilitate?

Thinking about this, they all turned to Tamur, knowing only it would be most knowledgeable about matters from the Mythical Era.

Gently swaying, Tamur calmly said

"I have no idea what’s going on here."

"Not something akin to undead soldiers?"

Feng Yuan was taken aback, not anticipating that Tamur wouldn’t understand the underlying cause, circling around Feng Yuan, Tamur said

"No, the environment here has nothing to do with any Mythical Era secrets."

"At least, not apparently."

Tamur wasn’t very sure, as this place indeed was somewhat unexpected.

It was at this moment that the wind gradually picked up, letting the snow fall wildly. Feng Yuan scanned his surroundings and said

"This place is strange; the snow just started falling suddenly. Although it’s a Snow Domain, it doesn’t feel particularly cold."

Looking at the others, Feng Yuan was uncertain whether this was a mere perception error or reality.

Qi Chen carefully sensed the surroundings, suspiciously saying

"It seems to be true, why could this be?"

"Perhaps, it isn’t snow at all, our presumption that this place is a Snow Domain might be misguided."

Qiu Hanmo spoke solemnly, initially mistakenly assuming this area as a Snow Domain. Upon closer examination of the trees, he recognized discrepancies.

The plant characteristics of different regions varied slightly. Though he wasn’t entirely acquainted with the authentic situation of the Monari Forest, he knew one thing: the Monari Forest should appear akin to a tropical rainforest.

However, within a Snow Domain, numerous tropical rainforest plants would struggle against such an environment, necessitating alterations to their form for survival.

Yet, this Monari Forest differed as the vegetation here barely diverged from the previous two areas. This defied reality.

If the Mythical Era could completely disregard modern rules, he had nothing to say, but Qiu Hanmo felt the situation wasn’t as straightforward.

"Yes, saying so is indeed reasonable. This Snow Domain looks peculiarly odd, not merely temperature discrepancies."

Surveying the area, Feng Yuan uncertainly said, as the snow fell thicker, visibility rapidly diminished. Dou Yanlan pondered aloud

"The plants are unusual! The plant species here show minimal variance with those in the Monari Forest."

"Well, no wonder I felt something was amiss. But, if this isn’t snow, then what is it?"

Just as Feng Yuan considered inspecting the snow, Qi Chen noticed anomalies and pointed at the Barrier, saying

"Look, the color of the Barrier seems off."

Due to the Barrier’s layering, everyone initially overlooked the outermost Barrier’s color, furthermore, to avoid curses or similar interference, Feng Yuan and the others didn’t maintain an energy connection after setting the Barrier, instead leaving it supported by isolated energy.

This led them to overlook the ongoing changes in the Barrier. At Qi Chen’s sudden reminder, they realized the outermost Barrier had unknowingly altered color.

"Fading? Or rather, this isn’t snow, but some strange substance, capable of fading objects—not just that, if it were merely fading, such a large area wouldn’t be used for experiments."

Reflecting on similar phenomena, Feng Yuan said, as Veronia recalled something, she then looked at Tamur saying

"Could it be final Purification?"

"Somewhat similar, but not as extreme."

Tamur uncertainly replied, even having detected clues, it still couldn’t associate this anomaly with anything from the Mythical Era. This implied it probably wasn’t purely replicating something from that era.
