Chapter 190: Support

Chapter 190: Support

As the signature divine art of the Precept Church, the Precept Art was incredibly difficult to dispel using other spells.

The best countermeasure was to stall until the spell's duration ended, or simply kill the caster.

The demon butler was originally human. Unlike the summoned demons, he was fiercely loyal to Ben.

Even after relying on the method of desires to transform into a demon, his loyalty to Ben remained unwavering.

Therefore, when it came to breaking the Precept Art for Ben, he was the most aggressive.

His entire body pitch-black and cracked, looking as if he had been burnt to a crisp, the demon butler lunged, his hand reaching directly for Dong He.

His scorching palm radiated an intense heat capable of reducing anything to cinders.

Before it even touched Dong He, the blistering air singed his hair.

When he transformed into a demon, he gathered the fear of burning.

He would occasionally incinerate the servants and maids within the estate who had made mistakes while serving Ben's family. He would then drag out their charred corpses and display them before the other servants.

Because of this, many servants were filled with absolute terror toward him, and this fear fueled his ascension into the demon he was today.

However, at that very moment, the other clerics sprang into action.

Despite their dread of the demon warlock's overwhelming power, the Church never lacked people of courage.

A blade shining with brilliant white light slashed downward, severing the demon butler's hand. After saving Dong He, the sword swept horizontally with an unstoppable momentum, slicing straight toward the demon butler.

The Captain of the Fifth Paladin Brigade had arrived to provide support!

Surging white light radiated outward, transforming into pillars of illumination that descended from the sky. They enveloped the rushing lesser demons, reducing them to ashes.

The other Iron-rank priests from the Missionary Department had arrived to provide support!

A body as sturdy as steel lunged forward. The paladin dual-wielding small pumpkin warhammers appeared before a stone golem. As the twin hammers crashed down, the golem shattered instantly.

The Captain of the Second Paladin Brigade had arrived to provide support!

A blade parried an attack, and a figure leaped high into the air, appearing above the castle to deliver a diagonal slash.

The Standard Demon atop the castle frowned. It extended its demonic hand, and a shield flashing with red light flickered into existence.

The sweeping sword qi seemed to meet some resistance, deflecting slightly as it careened downward.

A slanted sword mark appeared on the castle structure before it collapsed into rubble.

The Captain of the Third Paladin Brigade had arrived to provide support!

"It really is... endless!" the demon warlock's voice echoed from within the dust of the collapsed castle.

A ripple expanded from the center, blowing all the dust away. The androgynous demon slowly retracted its hand, its exquisite face displaying displeasure at being interrupted from gazing at the sun.

However, he made no further moves. He merely stood on the largest piece of the castle's ruins, continuing to gaze into the distance.

It was as if this battle had nothing to do with him.

Conversely, a gleam of excitement flashed in the eyes of the Six-Armed Naga Demon.

"The soul of a swordsman, I love it!" Its serpentine tail thrashed as it swung its six arms. Wielding multiple longswords, it hacked toward the captain of the Third Paladin Brigade.

Meanwhile, the Standard Demon stood beside the demon warlock, chuckling as it extended its claws.

A dense crimson hue erupted from its claws, forming red spears that thrust toward any cleric in the vicinity.

Demonic Art: Crimson Control!

In an instant, dozens of clerics found themselves under the assault of these crimson spears.

"The time to vanquish evil is now!!" many paladins shouted. White light flared across their bodies, making it clear they had all activated the Esoteric Breathing Method. The difference between paladins and other Life Aspect warriors who practiced breathing methods was that paladins were required to possess a certain level of faith and be proficient in the various Esoteric Breathing Methods imparted by the Church.

The Esoteric Breathing Method was not meant for cultivation. Instead, it was used to channel their faith, detonating their potential and rapidly converting it into temporary combat prowess!

In this state, even Black Iron Rank paladins could pose a tangible threat to demons.

Naturally, Iron-rank paladins could also utilize the Esoteric Breathing Method. Because their Iron-rank bodies were exceptionally robust, channeling the faith amplification would not deplete their life aura as long as the duration was kept short.

Furthermore, their faith could endow their swords with divine properties.

Spells erupted to form protective barriers, yet they could not halt the piercing strikes of the crimson spears.

Fortunately, the shields managed to decelerate the projectiles, allowing the paladins' swords to effectively deflect them.

On the other side, a mass of shadows leaped forward, using the chaos of the battlefield to lunge straight at Dong He in the crowd.

Regardless of his motives or his arrogance.

At the very least, Dong He had undeniably become a key figure. His actions made it impossible for the demon warlock to leave immediately.

"Grandfather!" Dong He snapped back to reality. He quickly took a deep breath to adjust his mental state and cast the divine art, Dispel Evil.

Dong Luo's entire body was racked with pain. The dispelling light washed over him, yet it failed to completely purge the residual curse of malice festering within his body.

Dong He prepared to cast the spell multiple times, but it was already too late.

The shadow surged from the ground, morphing into several angled spikes aimed at skewering both Dong He and Dong Luo into human kebabs.

Enduring the agony, Dong Luo swung his notched greatsword and plunged it straight into the earth. An intense white radiance erupted, driving back the shadows.

"Old man, tell Dong He to dispel the divine art!" The demon warlock stepped out from the shadows. Pitch-black mist spread outward, obstructing the light and casting deep darkness.

"You have absolutely no chance of winning this battle." Yet, Dong Luo knew perfectly well that retreating was not an option.

If they retreated, the Church would hold them accountable, making their future in the organization utterly bleak.

Even though he knew Dong He's bid for the bishop's position was not necessarily right, he was still willing to risk his old life to buy his grandson a future!

"I have foreseen it. You have absolutely no chance of winning!" Like Westbin, Dong Luo hailed from the Lillian Family and possessed the Fae Bloodline.

The difference was that Dong Luo was merely an individual whose bloodline remained dormant, whereas Westbin had fully awakened his ancestral heritage.

However, even with an unmanifested bloodline, reaching the Iron-rank had granted Dong Luo a trace of unique Fae abilities—his premonitions were incredibly acute.

Moreover, there were times when he could perceive the 'favor' bestowed upon different people.

Those with high favor were far more likely to succeed.

While for some, this favor was a negative value.

Right now, the demon warlock was radiating an intense aura of negative 'favor.'

The demon warlock paid no mind to Dong Luo's words. He simply continued to manipulate the massive amount of shadows, turning them into a dense darkness aiming to swallow Dong Luo and Dong He entirely.

On the other side, the demon butler was being forced into a continuous retreat by the relentless sword strikes of the Fifth Brigade's captain.

His charred body rapidly ignited with blistering flames, and his severed hand twitched, flying back to its stump to reattach itself.

The next moment, a ferocious blast of fire erupted, hurtling straight toward the paladin.

But just as the paladin prepared to fall back and dodge, a figure suddenly materialized.

It was none other than Morkania from the Investigation Team.
