Dear Enemy, You're My Mate

Chapter 92 **

Chapter 92 **

Finn

When I watch the human girl, the first instinct to strike me is hunger and a watering mouth. I reach out my hand, ready for breakfast. Fairies eat her kind for dinner, but her teary eyes and joy-filled smile speak volumes, and although I have no clue who she is, my heart flutters.

"What are you doing?" The girl asks innocently and tilts her head to let her white hair fall to one side. There is a hickey on her neck, and she flushes when she notices where my eyes have landed. "Uh? Hello, earth to Finn?"

I take a deep breath, wincing at the sprites whispering around me. They seem invisible to the smiling girl, but a shock wave travels through me once one touches my shoulder, and then I'm a goner.

Images of the girl standing before me flash inside my head. She is either smiling or calling my name in a grumpy tone, and then I hear my voice chuckling before saying, "little wolf."

And then I hear the girl yell into my mind. "TEN YEARS?! THAT'S WAY TOO LONG!"

My eyes widen at the memory, which I swear can't be my own. I don't remember this girl at all.

With a growing headache, my lips part to ask the question burning inside me. "Who are you?"

The girl hums, and I take the shape of a human to study her face better, to see if maybe she is someone I've met and forgotten. The winds blow, and the girl laughs with closed eyes, taking a step back.

"How about a fair warning, Mr. Windy?" she tries to brush out the folds in her t-shirt, and then her fingers travel to her hair. I messed it up pretty well, and she pouts at me. "You're such a troublemaker."

I will be damned—my lips twitch into a full-blown smile, and I approach the girl with curiosity bubbling within me. My hands fall upon her tiny shoulders, and then I sniff her hair—nope, I would remember that flowery scent.

The girl's lips are quivering, and I peer down to notice her cheeks are tinted red. "W-What are you doing?"

I lift an eyebrow, blinking at her weirded-out expression. Don't humans greet each other in this way?

"Smelling you to see if I remember who you are. I mean, you know my name, so-..." I scratch the back of my neck, smiling sheepishly down at her with my teeth showing. "Uh..."

By now, the girl is glaring up at me. Her expression picks my interest. Why isn't she afraid of me? I'm a fairy, a dangerous creature to be around, and yet, I can't sense an ounce of fear in her.

"Humans don't do that, and you're inside my bubble. I might know who you are, but you're too close."

She crosses her arms, and the challenging glint in her eye sends shivers down my spine. Her aggressive tone and steady feet—fuck, her eyes alone feel like a hand wrapping around my cock to give it a slight thug.

Who the hell is this girl?

Or should I call her a woman?

Her facial features speak of her perhaps being eighteen, or twenty at most, but she is tiny—a tiny terror. My lips curl at that, and I forget myself and let a chuckle escape my lips—bad idea.

The girl's eyes turn sharper, and oh boy, she is trouble alright. I love her elf-like features, although she is supposedly a human. And my brain is having trouble functioning whenever she speaks.

"Anyway, my name is Maya, and I'm from the future."

Regardless of her earlier words, I step forward and take her hand in mine with a smirk. "From the future, huh?"

She looks up at me. "That's right."

My tone is all tease and flirting. "And what exactly are we to each other in said future?"

Please, pretty girl, tell me you're my wife. I've spent a few minutes in your presence, and I'm already sold. If every human woman I've met in the past had been as charming and confident as this one, perhaps I shouldn't have eaten them.

"We are-..." Her eyebrows furrow, and her smile falter. I think I've made her think of something unpleasant. When she talks again, her eyes seem to shelter secrets. "You're my best friend, and I come from the future to prevent you from making the same mistake twice."

I play with her hair, unbothered by Maya's discomfort. "So, Maya, tell me—what terrible mistake did I make in the past?"

She opens her lips but then closes them. A hundred thoughts seem to race through her head, but there is one emotion that can't I can't figure out—her unbridled affection.

Maya told me we were best friends, yet the vibes I'm getting from her tell me an entirely different story. Her heart is pounding, and her pulse is picking up speed whenever she glances my way—whatever history we share in her future, we aren't only friends.

Maya raises her voice. "You trusted your human mate Beatrice too much, and she ended up betraying you. I'm here to prevent that from happening!"

I laugh and give her a dimpled smile. "Well shit, things turned serious pretty fast..."

"This isn't a laughing matter!" Maya argues, entirely red in the face. "You have to believe me—I'm not lying, Finn! Your life is in danger, and if you don't-..."

I tire of Maya's talking and pull her in for a kiss to test a theory. And what do you know? Maya immediately mewls into my mouth like we are lovers reunited, and I pick her up from the ground without hesitation.

I'm not sure what type of person I am in the future, but the Finn right here isn't afraid of taking what he wants, and Maya is on top of the list. Our chemistry is wild, and this woman is amazing.

Her tongue tastes sweet and addicting, and I smile against her lips. Maya should skip the bullshit and not call us best friends again because her lips and arousal are saying something else, not just through words.

My hands roam the small of her back, and her legs squeeze around my waist. I'm high on the shape of her and hellbent on making her mine already. She is my type of woman, and I push her against a tree trunk, desperate to get to know her.

Our kiss turns deeper, and the flutters traveling underneath my skin make it nearly impossible not to throw off my clothes. Maya and I are strangers, but chemistry is here, and the way her body responds to mine is downright overwhelming.

I dip my head and break our kiss, breathing hard while searching her confused eyes. Eventually, my lips curve into yet another smirk. "Best friends, huh?"
