Chapter 76 **
Chapter 76 **
Finn
I'm so screwed—what the hell have I done! Why couldn't I keep my cock in check for one night? Ugh, I'm so mad at myself!
I glance down at Maya, see the woman my two best friends have created, their freaking daughter, and I want to hit my head against the wall! I'm sick, and the worst part is that I still like her!
What a fucked up world I live in!
I kick the door open to June's lair and send ten men blasting out through the window while trying not to remember how beautiful Maya looked naked with her porcelain skin and even brighter hair, like an elf but entirely human. She is such a dirty girl, too—god, the sounds she made in bed will keep me awake for days!
"Who is there?!" June, the blind, old hag, is panicking and ringing her bell for more guards. "I'm being assaulted!"
Maya taps me on the back. "Finn, can you fight all of her guards? Because if the answer is no, then we ought to leave quickly!"
I hear her, but my mind is somewhere else. Fuck me, not again! I'm drifting away to that lonely place again, the void where my head travels when I think about going back to my world alone. I hate it there—the other fairies are so brutal and bloodthirsty, and I'm not like that.
I'm kind, and I crack vulgar jokes, and sure—I love the location and the weather and the tall trees stretching for the skies. Flying above the clouds is lovely, but I want to share that life with someone.
Maya is coming with me, but she needs to return to her family once I deem it safe enough to kick her through a portal. She will probably want to leave soon, considering my fairy life isn't modern or flashy, and there is no Starbucks coffee, only fruit.
And then there is the fact that all my neighbors are bloodthirsty monsters, including me. I can stay in human form for a while, but my bones and wings seem to beg me to return to a full-fledged fairy after some time.
"FINN!"
Maya screams, and I return to earth. My eyes roam the room until landing on the orb, which must contain Maya's wolf. I summon the water element in haste, using the liquid in the air to create a whip. I grab the globe and throw it at Maya.
"Catch!"
Maya lifts her arms above her head. "Got it!"
I smile but grimace when werewolves and vampires alike are coming in through the doors, surrounding us.
"Stop this right now!"
A werewolf who hasn't shape-shifted yells at us—he looks so dumb wearing shining armor. "We got you surrounded! Don't fight back if you wish to live!"
I raise my hands with a grin. Maya gawks at me like I've grown two heads—the word "surrender" probably doesn't exist in her head, and I wink at her before turning to face the guard.
"How about dancing instead of fighting?"
The guard squints at me. "Huh?"
"Well?"
I take a step forward, and the frightened man screams louder. "Freeze!"
Laughter erupts from my throat. "Excellent idea!"
I sidestep and kick up a wind, sending the men into a mini-tornado. Hail comes down from the ceiling like comets, making the men cry before everyone in touch with it freezes to ice.
Maya gasps at me. "Y-You froze them!"
"Yup," I look around. "We need to make it to the portal before Arvin arrives with the people who know how to fight. In my world, I will have an easier time defending us."
"R-Right!"
"Could you merge with your wolf? I think you would have an easier time running in wolf form."
Maya shakes her head. "No, my wolf doesn't trust me, and I'm not sure how to merge with her!"
"I guess we will have to figure that out later!" I grab Maya princess-style and spread my wings. We surge forward, past wolves that snap at us like crazy hyenas.
My passenger screams when a werewolf mauls her leg on the way down the stairs, and even though she kicks like crazy, the evil wolf isn't giving up. I summon the air element, but by the time I send the wolf blasting off toward hell, it's already too late—Maya's leg appears broken, and the skin is tattered and bloody.
Fear pangs in my chest as I squeeze her tighter to me. I'm running for the portal, followed by an entire pack of wolves and vampires.
"Are you alright?" I'm stressing out the words. No matter how hard I try to deny it, my heart belongs to Maya, and the thought of losing her is eating me alive. "I'm sorry, this is my fault—I should have held you higher above the ground-..."
"No, this is not your fault," Maya interrupts me and meets my eyes with a determined gaze. "Enter through the portal—I will be fine!"
Once again, I'm impressed by this woman. She is injured and bleeding in my arms, her freaking leg is sticking out, and she is barking me orders—I fall a little deeper for her. Now isn't the time to fuck her, but damn it, her bossy attitude turns me on.
"If you hold on, I can try healing you on the other side of the portal."
Maya passes me a quick smile, and then I rush through the portal, followed by Arvin's men. I can hear the growls of wolves, but as soon as the bright sunlight hits my eyes, I spread my wings.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of Finn's airlines, I am pleased to welcome you aboard flight number one with the service to get-the-hell-out-of-here."
"Wow..." Maya's saucer eyes are roaming the meadow below us. Every flower is the size of a human streetlight, and some petals are glowing in unique colors. "So pretty!"
Smiling, I gain altitude and race forward with tremendous speed. My limbs are growing larger, allowing me to head for the rainforest without worrying about the predators lurking inside.
Maya seems confused about what is going on, and I press her into my chest with a reassuring smile. "Everything will be alright. I'm just going through a normal growing phase, nothing to worry about—it's like puberty, but far more extreme."
I say that, yet a second later, I'm hit by lightning. A sharp cry escapes me, and then I glare behind my shoulder, spotting Arvin and his witch friends standing yards away from us. They appear as tiny little spots on the ground, but there is no mistaking that Arvin got the lightning fairy's powers in his possession.
I growl and then force myself forward despite my weakening state. Maya is speaking, but I can't focus on her voice. Getting hit by lightning isn't something you quickly recover from, and when I'm struck again, we tumble down from the sky like a comet.
"WE ARE GOING TO DIE!"
Maya is panicking, but there is nothing I can do to stop us from falling. My wings are electrified and broken, and my entire body is burning. It feels like I'm dying, yet I turn us around in the sky, so my back faces the ground. I laugh despite my barely functioning brain.
"It's weird holding you in my hands."
A soft smile spread over my lips. I've never interacted with a friendly human in this state before, and it's super weird. I feel like a freak. Hopefully, Maya won't treat me like one.
The human squirms underneath my palms that hold her in place, and I crack a wide grin when her head pops out from between my thumbs. Her face turns pale upon seeing me, and the rest is history—the impact with the ground knocks me out.
