Chapter 217: The Pace of Meeting the Parents with Elara Don
Chapter 217: The Pace of Meeting the Parents with Elara Don
Elder Hawthorne and Madam Hawke sat at the table, accompanying the two little ones for breakfast.
Once they’d almost finished eating, Elder Hawthorne took out a napkin and wiped the corner of his mouth.
"Damon, I’ve already spoken with the directors of the two kindergartens. Today, Bea will transfer to Charlie’s kindergarten; it’s good for the kids to have a companion."
Upon hearing this, Damon Hawke remained silent, instead looking at Elara Don.
This was to seek her opinion.
Elara Don pursed her lips, her fingers curling slightly.
As expected, upon acknowledging, the Hawthorne would intervene in all matters concerning Bea.
"Does Miss Thorne have any concerns?"
Elder Hawthorne looked at Elara Don and asked calmly.
Elara Don shook her head, "I have no objections. It’s undoubtedly best for the children to access better educational opportunities."
Ordinary kindergartens certainly can’t compare to elite ones in terms of educational conditions.
She wasn’t so selfish as to compromise her reputation at the cost of taking away her son’s right to a better school.
"Alright, we’ll take the kids to school later, and in the evening, I’ll send a driver to bring them back to the family residence."
Elder Hawthorne was pleased with Elara Don’s understanding, "Miss Thorne, join Damon at the family residence for dinner tonight."
Upon hearing this, Elara Don assumed that the two elders intended to separate the children from her.
Her heart sank a bit.
"Elder, you can bring the kids back for dinner at the family residence, but after dinner, I hope they can stay here."
Seeing Elara Don’s tense expression, Elder Hawthorne said, "Don’t worry, we have no intention of separating the kids from you. On the contrary, we hope you seriously consider matters with Damon; for the sake of the children, marry Damon soon and move into the Hawke residence. This way, the children will have a more comfortable environment."
These words slightly eased Elara Don’s mind.
As long as the kids weren’t being taken away.
However, the idea of marrying Damon soon was something she hadn’t decided.
"Alright, Dad, Elly is shy; let’s discuss marriage once we’ve talked it through. It’s getting late, let’s take the kids to school first."
Damon Hawke spoke timely, helping Elara Don out of the situation.
Elara Don glanced at him, feeling a slight stir in her heart.
This time, he hadn’t deceived her and was quite considerate.
So, should she forgive him for deceiving her in the past?
"Elder, Madam Hawke, I’ll leave it to you to take Charlie and Bea to school then."
Elara Don wisely stepped aside, understanding the elders were particularly fond of the newly found twins and thus refrained from taking them herself. She allowed Elder Hawthorne and Madam Hawke to accompany the kids to school.
"No trouble, taking the grandkids to school is very delightful."
Madam Hawke smiled sweetly, holding each child’s hand, while Elder Hawthorne carried their backpacks.
"Grandpa, Grandma, we can carry our bags ourselves."
Bea spoke obediently.
Dominic Hawke nodded.
"It’s fine, let your grandfather carry them. He’s idling at home all day; it gives him something to do."
Madam Hawke laughed sweetly.
"Yes, let your grandfather have a chance to move around."
Elder Hawthorne cheerfully followed behind, looking very approachable.
What had become of the once formidable business magnate to whom the mere mention of his name commanded respect in the business world?
Now, he seemed more like an ordinary family man, doting on his grandchildren.
Elara Don’s lips curved, leaving her with a favorable impression of the Hawthorne.
After waving goodbye to the elders and the little ones, Elara Don turned to the tall man beside her, her face soft yet showing slight contempt. "Mr. Hawke, why are you still here? You can leave too."
Though she could forgive him for deceiving her, for some reason, she couldn’t help but feel like criticizing him whenever she saw him.
Probably deep down, she still didn’t trust him.
"I’m waiting to go to work with you."
Damon Hawke was in good spirits, leisurely following behind Elara Don as she tidied up the tableware.
"No need, I’ll take the bus to work myself."
Elara Don replied.
"That works, I’ll take the bus too."
Damon Hawke nodded, recalling their past bus rides together, and smiled.
While the smell inside the bus was unpleasant, being with her made it enjoyable.
"Damon Hawke, what are you trying to do?"
Did he insist on coming and going with her?
Elara Don glared at Damon Hawke and asked.
"Can’t you tell? I want to pursue you again."
Damon Hawke gripped Elara Don’s shoulders, seriously saying, "Elly, I’m serious about you, as you heard my father earlier, for the sake of giving the children a healthy and comfortable family, how about us being together?"
Once again, it was for the children!
If not for the children, would he even glance at her?
Elara Don felt uneasy, wanting to immediately refuse.
But thinking of the two children’s bright eyes, she swallowed the rejection.
"Give me some time to think."
Upon hearing this, Damon smiled.
He embraced Elara Don joyfully.
"That’s better."
He would finally win her over!
"Let go, I need to wash the dishes."
"I’ll help you."
"No, I’m short on dishes, don’t break them."
"Elly, don’t underestimate me."
"Haha!"
Ultimately, Elara Don couldn’t resist Damon and went to the company with him.
Inside the corporation, under the scrutinizing gazes from all directions, Elara Don felt a bit of a headache.
Although the news was quickly pulled down, she imagined many had seen it.
In this information age, if one person knew, it would spread to hundreds, thousands.
She guessed that many within the corporation were curious: what was her relationship with Damon Hawke?
Was the child accompanying her actually Damon’s?
"Elly, come over here."
Damon Hawke called out from beside the elevator, directing Elara Don, who was waiting for it.
Numerous employees standing around turned their heads to look at Elara Don.
Elara Don felt speechless, glaring at Damon, gritting her teeth as she asked, "Mr. Hawke, what’s up?"
"I have a meeting this afternoon, might get back late, wait for me and we’ll go to the family residence together."
Damon replied unconcernedly, making the surrounding people widen their eyes.
Was this essentially introducing Elara to the family?
It seemed their good news was near!
They were getting a new lady boss!
Suddenly, everyone’s gaze towards Elara Don carried a hint of respect.
Elara Don felt so embarrassed she wanted to find a hole to hide in.
This man was definitely doing it on purpose!
He was deliberately declaring their current relationship this way!
Ding!
The direct access elevator and regular elevator both arrived.
With a long arm sweep, Damon Hawke pulled Elara Don, who was about to enter the elevator, into his embrace.
In full view of everyone, he led her into the direct access elevator.
"Mr. Hawke, what are you doing?"
Elara Don freed herself from Damon’s grasp and glared at him.
"What did I do?"
Damon displayed an innocent look.
Elara Don gritted her teeth, "This is a company; could you keep your distance?"
"Elly, you’re my girlfriend and future Hawke corporation young lady. Everyone will know sooner or later, right?"
Elara Don: "..."
She only said she’d consider their relationship; she hadn’t agreed to anything yet!
