Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy

Chapter 183: I Can’t Go Back Tonight

Chapter 183: I Can’t Go Back Tonight

Arriving at the apartment door, Elara Don stared blankly at the large bouquet of red roses on the ground, momentarily speechless.

Roses?

Did Damon Hawke buy these?

Damon Hawke set Bea down and then picked up the bouquet from the floor, handing it to Elara Don.

"Flowers for the beauty, Elly, these are for you."

The man’s handsome face carried a hint of a smile, looking particularly affectionate under the light.

Elara Don stared at him blankly, forgetting to react.

Beside them, Bea giggled and clapped her little hands, "Wow, how romantic. Dad, are you going to get down on one knee and propose to mom next?"

Elara Don: "..."

This kid, what nonsense are you saying!

Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow slightly and instinctively touched his chest.

There was a gift in his inner pocket, but unfortunately, it wasn’t a ring!

"Ahem, Mr. Hawke, no need to go overboard, I like Charlie and it has nothing to do with you."

Fearing Damon Hawke might actually say something alarming, Elara Don hurriedly took the flowers and pulled out her keys to open the door.

The room was pitch black, Elara Don pressed the switch by the door.

However, the light didn’t come on as usual.

Elara Don frowned, pressing it a few more times.

The light still didn’t come on.

No way!

Could it be a power outage?

"Mommy, why isn’t the light on?" Bea asked from the side.

Elara Don felt a bit helpless, "I’m not sure, it might be an outage, or maybe there’s a problem with the wiring. Let me call for help."

She dreaded power or water outages the most.

Because she wasn’t really good at dealing with issues like changing lightbulbs.

And she wasn’t sure if someone would even respond from the help center at this hour.

"Elly, did you forget I’m a man?"

Damon Hawke spoke quietly from the side, somewhat dissatisfied.

If there’s a problem, wouldn’t it be natural to ask him for help?

Instead, she only thought of calling for help!

"Haha, yes, with dad here! Dad, help mommy check and see where the problem is."

Bea grinned, his dark eyes particularly bright in the night.

"Alright, tell me where the electrical box is?"

Damon Hawke looked at Elara Don and asked.

"Uh, this, I don’t know."

Elara Don said embarrassingly.

Ever since she moved in, nothing like this had happened.

She had never paid attention to the wiring issues at home.

Damon Hawke glanced at her, saying, "So, how can a home go without a man?"

Elara Don: "..."

She really wanted to tell him the world would keep spinning fine without anyone in particular.

But since she needed his help now, she just griped silently to herself.

Damon Hawke quickly found the electrical box.

He fiddled with it a bit and said, "Try turning the light on."

Elara Don responded with an "Oh," using her phone’s light to turn on the wall lamp.

The room instantly lit up, and Elara Don breathed a sigh of relief.

Damon Hawke turned off his phone’s flashlight and said, "Your home’s wiring seems to have aged. Make do just for tonight, tomorrow I’ll have someone come over to fix it."

Hearing this, Elara Don smiled gratefully.

She opened her mouth to thank him, but then thought better of it, swallowing her words.

"No need, I’ll call an electrician to check it myself."

No need for his help!

She needed to keep a distance from him.

Damon Hawke’s face showed a trace of displeasure.

He stepped a bit closer and said, "Don’t want to be indebted to me? Elly, sometimes don’t be too stubborn. Don’t forget, you’re not just a single woman, you’re living alone with two kids. If the electrician who comes has bad intentions, seeing just a lonely mother and her kids, what then?"

His words, spoken so righteously, left Elara Don unable to refute.

Beside him, Bea timely tugged at Elara Don, "Mommy, Dad’s right, better let him find someone to look at it."

Elara Don glanced at the little guy, catching his bright black eyes, she pursed her lips and changed the topic.

"Damon, Charlie, sleepy yet? Want to go to bed?"

Since her son spoke up, she reluctantly had to accept someone’s suggestion.

"I’m not sleepy yet."

Bea’s eyes turned, pulling Damon Hawke to sit on the sofa.

"Dad, you sit, I’ll get you some water."

Damon Hawke’s lips turned up slightly as he obediently sat down.

Elara Don watched the little guy dash off to get water for someone, feeling a bit speechless.

"Mr. Hawke, it’s late, have some water and head back early."

This little one, don’t be so eager to please!

Couldn’t possibly want someone to stay over again, right?

"I can’t go back tonight."

Damon Hawke looked at her and said.

Elara Don frowned, "Why can’t you go back?"

Really going to stay over again?

"Because your home’s wiring is unstable, what if it trips again?" Damon Hawke said confidently.

If it trips again, I’ll just turn it back on.

"What if the pipes leak, or the lights don’t work again?"

Elara Don: "..."

This man, he might as well say outright he’s shamelessly staying over.

Find so many excuses, for what?

Elara Don rolled her eyes, watching her son already bringing over a cup of water.

"Dad, here."

"Hmm."

Damon Hawke took the cup, his face full of approval.

Bea giggled, sitting beside him, his big eyes sparkling.

At this moment, someone’s stomach growled.

Bea blinked and looked at Damon Hawke’s stomach, "Dad, was that your stomach growling?"

Damon Hawke put down the cup, cough lightly, "Yes, been busy till now and haven’t had dinner."

To free up the evening, he rushed every moment, just to enjoy this warm moment now.

Busy indeed, but he deliberately skipped dinner too.

Just wanting the little woman to make him dinner.

"Dad, you’re working so hard, Mommy, is there anything left at home to eat?"

Bea’s big eyes turned, looking at Elara Don and asking.

The question so clearly meant to have her make Damon Hawke something to eat?

Little smartie.

Elara Don glanced at the little guy, then at Damon Hawke, "Mr. Hawke, your status is distinguished, I only have noodles, I’m afraid you won’t enjoy them."

"I won’t mind, as long as you make it, I can eat anything."

Damon Hawke said, touching his stomach.

Elara Don’s eyes flashed, recalling how she added pepper to the noodles the other night, causing him stomach pain, feeling inexplicably guilty.

She cleared her throat lightly and walked towards the kitchen.

"Wait."

Fine, considering he just helped her out, she’d reluctantly make a normal bowl of noodles.

"Haha, Dad, give me five."

Bea was full of excitement, offering his little white hand to give Damon Hawke a high five.

Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow, watching the little guy’s smiling face, only feeling the son’s personality becoming more cheerful.
